Radi'Utengo was very far from his tree today. Laini, that darn lioness, had been waiting there for him, expecting him. But he did not want to play babysitter so he made sure he was elsewhere, a good deal elsewhere. She thought that because she had bested him in a fight that she was better than him. She thought she had ultimate control over him. Time to prove her wrong. Being here brought him a smug sort of satisfaction.
As it was, it had been a sort of desperation that made him stand by that tree everyday on that otherwise open Savannah, waiting for others to appear. But he was in complete denial about his ability to get along, or rather his inability. So not finding them was probably actually the best possible situation for him.
Radi looked around cautiously and then, assured, stopped to rest his tired feet and feed on this grass so far from his home. So similar and yet so different. ((it got a little ranty. Sorry, not the best at introductions))

Radi wasn't the only one far from home; Taika herself had taken it upon herself to take a long trip to the border of the Ela lands. She'd left Tsi'hilu Waya back home, having not even told the white lioness she was going to be gone for a few; neither of them had to talk to express their desires after all, and right as of this moment, both lioness and waterbuck desired the same thing. Of course, the buck in question was walking along the path of Denial, doing her best to try and convince herself that she was not walking the border in hopes of finding a certain male lion both she and Tsi had run into about a moon ago. Of course she wasn't; that would have been dumb of Taika - there was no way she was seeking out Nyota. No way at all.
Idly, she thought that perhaps, if she kept repeating this to herself as a mental mantra, she'd start to believe it.
Head held high, Tai rolled her eyes, mostly at herself before she stopped her walking to take in her surroundings; after all, the fact she was in inner turmoil did nothing to lessen her great sense of survival. Nothing was going to take HER down till Nyota came back. She'd make sure of that, she thought with a flick of her tail. It was as she surveyed her surroundings that she spotted a figure in the near distance, it's white pelt reflecting the sun's rays, not unlike Tsi'hilu's own white one did.
She did not move however, watching him silently with a critical eyes, her green orbs narrowing, almost as if assessing the male's movements, ears flicking to listen all around her. The silence seemed to indicate that they were alone; her mind then supplied her with an idea. A game. She stood there, a smirk drawn upon her lips, watching, making a mental bet with herself as to how much time the male would need to notice her, and just what he'd do upon noticing her.

He lifted his head if only for the moment. It was the feeling one gets when they know they're not alone. But it was an eerie feeling more closely associated with the supernatural. And Radi associated such a feeling with memories. He rolled the feeling off of his shoulders like a stream over a smooth pebble: with ease.
Like he would find another waterbuck out here? Pahh! What nonsense that was! He had a flawed logic and it told him in such a situation that this place seemed too far away from a water source to support a herd. It was flawed in that he had no real clue about water, just a hunch, and that he did not realize they did not need to travel in groups. It was the logic given to one with the mind-set "woe is me" and "I'm a poor sod."
He glanced up and squinted into the distance as if daring himself to see another soul. Nope, no one. Now if he had looked a fraction to the left, things might have resulted differently. But, however, he did not. Heading straight in an almost determined fashion, he plodded onward.

He did not disappoint.
Never did the male notice her as she watched him, and where there had been a smirk curling upon her lips before, she now had to fight to keep herself from chuckling, mirth shining in her green hued eyes as another game occurred to her. This one however, should prove to be slightly more amusing, if everything worked out to her favour, of course.
Which Taika had long found usually did; things had a tendency of going her way. Tsi'hilu had once mentioned that she thought that the buck had been born Lucky, shrouded in magic that kept her safe, and even though she knew this could not be, the thought lingered at the back of her mind more often than not.
Moving with almost feline grace, movements that seemed to have rubbed off the lioness she spent so much time with, Taika advanced towards the male, her head lowering to reach out towards him. She made sure to remain silent, her hooves never once breaking so much as a twig as she stalked him. It wasn't till she was practically a mere few inches from his form, that she finally extended her neck, her maw opening to release a warm breath over the male's rump and back, her blunt teeth gracing the base of his tail in a sharp tug before she took a step back away from him, regarding him with mischievous eyes. The shine there seemed to indicate cunning, another feature that must've somehow rubbed off from the lioness she spent so much time with.
As it was, after her stunt, Taika merely waited for a reaction; there was no way he'd not see her NOW, "Hi there. Boy, do you look blue; what's eating you anyhow? Bright day out here, no hunting parties within sight.... cheer up! You look like you'd turn milk sour."

There were many things that defined Radi and fool was not one of them. Oh no it wasn't. That's right. She appeared with the use of witch craft. Yes, witch craft indeed. Radi had just been plodding along with the inkling something wasn't right. That feeling had been magic. What else could it be?
He swung his head around with enough momentum to move his body minimally too to stare at her with two very different colored eyes. He had the dignity to look offended and the upbringing to quickly follow that with mortal embarrassment. He took a few steps back to register that yes, indeed, he had run into a waterbuck. Out here of all places. And that this witch craft was performed by a female.
But he couldn't quite hold it against her although it did get a bad mark in his book. She redeemed herself by seeming quite interested in his well-being. In the middle of breeding grounds, a hormonal teenager tends to think of what happened there and sometime during his youth that was what he had done. And sad to say, he had built a philosophy around it. A female's purpose was to be a mother, to reproduce. That was it. Pleasing males was only right as that would be their job for their mate. And every female must want to complete her purpose and thus be nice to every male she meets. Surely that's how the world works.
"Well, indeed, I assure you, I am quite fine." Although his tail might say otherwise. "Nothing... is eating me," he said, checking around him instinctively as if something should be. "And where, may I ask, did you appear from?" And he meant so quite literally.

Ooooh... posh, wasn't he?
The smile curved upon her lips again, her head tilting to one side almost comically as she regarded him. True, he hadn't been the one she'd been hoping to find all the way out here, but at least he was proving to be highly entertaining. Poor, poor Radi; had he taken if only just a peek within Taika's mind, there was no doubt that what he'd seen there would've tossed his fully crafted world of ideas all to the ground, not to mention it'd have had him running for the hills.
Alas, as it was, he had no means to look into her mind, and thus the only indication of her clear amusement the twinkling of her eyes, mirth ringing within her every movement as she circled him, walking around him, inspecting him here and there, "Taika's the name, by the way! It means magic," again the obnoxious smirk graced her maw, sure of herself, full of ... something. Pride? Grace? Perhaps knowing? It was hard to tell, with the way she moved, swiftly, fluid, almost feline movements, "It's a metaphor, mate; it means you looked troubled. Because if something eats you, you'd be troubled, right?" a pause, her ear flicking as she wrinkled her face, obviously waving that idea away, "Anyhow, ironies aside..."
As he turned to glance around, the female paused her movements and turned to look around too, mimicking his movements before she allowed her gaze to return to him, one brow arching, as if asking what he was looking for, rather silently. It wasn't till he asked where she'd appeared from, that the mirth that had been dancing in her eyes seemed to burst into melodic peals of laughter that rung out softly around them, "Why, doesn't my name tell you that much? Magic!" she chirped quite happily, her head turning on profile so she'd be able to regard him out the corner of an eye. It was in her nature to be playful after all, and there was something about the male that made her want to tease him slightly, push his buttons, if she could.
The idea was slightly amusing.

Had this been a play, his response would have been quite dramatic, possibly even the sound of a frying pan in the background smacking against a solid object and then reverberating. For it was just as if he had been hit with one. She admitted it! She admitted to being a witch. Her name meant witch! Oops, he was getting carried away. He had to stop and correct himself. It meant magic ...but that was basically the same thing right? Magic and witches? Hand in hand, jolly stroll down the street, no? Oii
Lucky for him though, it was all quietly contained except for the twitch in his eye brows, or at least the muscle that was there. Which escalated to a serious lowering of said brow muscle as she played cat and mouse, circling him. "I suppose it would be trouble, being eaten," he said, moving his head to keep his eyes constantly focused on hers, which required a bit of skill and stamina. But she looked smug as if she wished to eat him. It wasn't a prospect he enjoyed considering. "Trouble is, we're alone." Yup, that was trouble alright. Sure he could handle a female, but you know... the whole gentleman issue... don't hit women unless you have to... And he really didn't want to have to put her in her place. That wouldn't be very enjoyable. They should be able to find it on their own. Then again, neither was her trying to eat him.

So intent was her gaze, and so intent was she on catching even the slightest movement of the male that the twitching of his brow as she mentioned 'Magic' did not go unnoticed. Of course, though she had no idea what he could be thinking, or what exactly his train of thought was, it didn't quite seem to matter to her. All what mattered was that he was nervous, that he was awkward and that, above all, he was amusing her.
Deeply so.
"Alone is good," she mentioned casualy, "Though hate to break it to you, mate, but alone is also kinda... not the word I'd pick; there's birds, and snails, and ants, see? Look," she lowered her nose to the ground, where it just so happened a trail of ants was passing by, and she still couldn't seem to erase the smirk that lingered her lips.
Had Radi turned to lash out at her, Taika might've just shown the male buck a trick or two (After all, she'd not escaped from a male lion's grip several times for nothing - she too held an ace or two up her sleeve, and would've had no problem with showing them if the time were to come). Mid-way her game, she seemed to reconsider, and the wheels in her head could practically be heard as they turned, cunning shinning in her eyes, "You're skittish," he said matter of factly, "I'm not a lion, you know," a pause as her head tilted to one side, and for a moment, the shine of the sun almost seemed to make her eyes flash, "Though I know my fair share; never succeeded in hunting me, they did. Poor lot," she paused again, however, for a sheer moment, "So tell me; what brings you out here?" she pointed down the oposite way, into the Ela lands, "I live way over there. Kinda a day's walk away."

The good thing about her comment was, of course, that it revealed a whole lot of intentions that she didn't have. That is, it revealed the lack of. Therefore, he felt safer. A witch but a seemingly powerless one. As if should be ...if they must be a witch at all. Or maybe it was because he hadn't given his name yet. Maybe she needed that to have power over him. Well then, he'd keep that to himself, now wouldn't he?
"Oh I know you're not a lion but you seem to have an affinity for them, it would seem," he commented looking almost as if his previous expressions had simply been part of the observation process. "I'm out here because it's pretty lonely back there." he gestured over his shoulder with his head back towards where he had come from. He saw no reason to lie about it. "There are none of our kind back there."

"Back there, you say?" he followed the direction of his nod, her head tilting to one side before she allowed her shoulders to roll with a shrug. The movement was graceful, almost feline, making it obvious she'd picked it up from Tsi'hilu, and even if the male was in fact, unaware that Taika was used to being around lions, it might've given him the inkling of the idea, "There's not that many of us back over there," she motioned towards where she had come from, only briefly moving her head, then she smirked and pointed forward, "There are, however, quite a few way up ahead," her body stopped moving then, her eyes focussed on this 'up ahead' as she pondered.
Only her tail moved, swatting at a random fly before she snorted through her nostrils, "I had half an idea to check out the mating grounds; I was on my way over there, but I've just realised something," she never mentioned just WHAT she'd realised, but she did motion up ahead again, "If you're seeking others, that's your best bet. It being the mating grounds... and all," she seemed to pause, only briefly however before adding, "And sure I have an affinity towards lions; I spend most of my time with a lioness," she smirked, waiting for a reaction, "Some of her movements seemed to have rubbed off on me over time; she's quite nice to be around, and no one else bothers me when I'm around her. It's quite a nice situation. I offer her smart talk and company, and she offers me protection."
Another pause, "Dude, you're so jumpy, what gives?"

What? Mating grounds? What did she mean "mating grounds"?! He had just come from the mating grounds. A shock hit him that could have near-sent him reeling. They had changed to a different location on him. Yes, of course it made sense. The one he had stayed at had burned when he was very very little so of course, they would find another one rather than wait for the grass at the old one to grow again. He felt cheated. He felt jipped. how could they? Radi'Utengo jumped on the opportunity of the moment. "Take me there?" he almost pleaded as though should she say no, he would melt into glue. It was something he had been waiting for his whole life and desperately wanting. He didn't like having been alone for so long always waiting patiently like a maiden waiting for her lover to return home from war to find that he's forgotten all about her and married to a princess. Only, he would resent such a comparison - any comparison, for that matter, that compared him to a female.
"And I'm not jumpy," he said. "Just... nervous." Like that was any better! The daft fool went making himself look even more inferior than he would have liked. "I'm not used to social interaction." Oh yea, some comeback there, Radi. Way~to~go he thought to himself, mentally rolling his eyes.

The pleading note in the male's voice was enough to make Taika arched a brow. This was, without a doubt, the most curiously-amused she'd felt in ages. Despite this, some small nagging thought at the back of her mind made her think the small, fidgety male was rather charming, in his own... almost childish way. That same part of her mind had decided it wanted to be greedy; that she didn't particularly felt like sharing him with other females, and thus, taking him to the mating grounds, was out of the question.
In fact, she'd decided only moments ago, that the mating grounds were out of the question for her too; she'd gone there time and time again, and had come back to the Ela lands empty handed. Or as empty-handed as a hooved creature could. Last time she'd set off a stampede, which hadn't really impressed the others; hen she'd come back home, growling over how the other waterbuck simply could NOT take a joke, Tsi'hilu had laughed at her and told her that the males there simply had no 'bite'. That she needed a male with 'bite'. Whatever the hell that meant.
"Huh," she said, her head tilting to one side in thought, "You can't go to the mating grounds if you're THIS fidgety," a small smile formed upon her maw as she shook her neck, almost as if trying to rid of some sort of inexistant dust from her well-groomed neck-fluff, "If you're not used to social interaction, the girls there ain't gonna look at you twice, don't you think?" her mind, as fast-working as it was, had already formed a plan. Now it was all about if he'd fall for the bait, or not, "Tell you what! I'll take you back with me to the Ela grounds, and train you! There's waterbucks there too; not as many as on the mating grounds, but there ARE some. And after I've trained you all good and proper, I'll take you to the mating grounds myself! Bet'cha you can get any girl you want after I'm through with you," she leaned in furtively, "There's nothing more attractive than a male that can actualy stand his ground and look cool, calm and collected around lions."
Smirking she leaned away from him and arched a brow, waiting for his decision on the matter, "So, what do you say?"

Radi imagined coming up upon the mating grounds, waterbucks as far as the eye could see, a cluster of color so beautiful, his heart readied to melt at the scene. Every one turned its head to gaze upon him in delight as if they too had waited their whole lives for such a moment to see his figure finally grace the scene. There was such a fantasy to the scene that he indulged himself by imagining that as he submersed himself into the herd, they all stopped to turn and look at him, giving him devilish - no, bad word, BAD! ...willing was the word. Yes willing looks that pleaded for him to take them with him and never make them leave him for the rest of their lives. As he pushed through the clustering females to make his way to the middle, they abandoned their current locations to press tightly behind him and follow as if mesmerized.... HUH?! Fidgety?!
Radi was zapped out of his daydream by such horrible words that he could never have imagined hearing EVER. Can't go to the mating grounds because he was fidgety?! Him and his damn words. Look where they got him! Training, why did he need training? He didn't. This was some sort of distraction and he didn't like it. If she was a male, he would have accused her of trying to steal all the girls for himself but she was a female. Why?! What was the issue? Did she plan on feeding him to her lioness? Oh gods no. That better not be the case.
He held up a mental hand to halt his thoughts. He was panicking too much. Radi was a male. He was superior in every way. A lioness may have bested him before but not again. Nope, never again. He adjusted his posture to hold himself almost regally to regain his self-confidence. There was nothing that could stop him. He was great. He was awesome. He was Radi'Utengo and everyone had been waiting their whole lives to meet him. "Alright," he said, "I'll go with you."

"Alright, I'll go with you."
She smirked; there was no way she could have helped herself from the act, and promptly had to turn her head to look over her shoulder in an attempt to hide it. He was just so easy to read... and so easy to tug at; all she had to do was to, obviously, poke at his male-ego and he'd fall for it, head-first and tail deep, she thought to herself. Taika found herself chuckling slightly before offering him a sweet smile, "Of course you'll come! Watch, you'll be the greatest male there ever was! That's what we females want; brave males to look up to!" she nodded lightly to herself, even as she snorted on the inside, "Not that you're not already magnificent, the way you are, but you see, there's a lot of competition as of late. Can't have such a fine piece of work lose against the others."
Truthfully? She wasn't all that sure how anyone could be this narrow-minded, or how he'd survived so long, with such a point of view. Alas, all the better for her! Because now, she thought to herself as she turned around and began to pad off, she had a toy. Her very own toy; and she hadn't even had to work much for it either! "Well? Come on! This way!" she called as she motioned towards the distant Ela'wadiyi lands, "You'll be the king of the rock, when you appear in the mating grounds and can prove you've got your own lions completely whipped! All the females will come flocking to you, and won't pay the other males a seconds' glance," as she walked on, she couldn't help but add, "You might be wondering why I'm doing this; see, I've been to the mating grounds, and never have I seen a worthy male. I want.... to belong to a herd," she nodded, and wondered if that sounded too much like a lie, "And you're the only worthy one I've seen; you just need a few brush ups."
As they walked, the female wondered how much she could appeal to his ego. Alas, only time would tell. Regardless, this was going to be... mildly interesting, at least.

Although a concern of Radi's was to be better than females -actually, that's a lie. He already believed he was better than females. But anyway, like most males, he did have an ego and she did stroke it rather easily. He had never thought about competing with males because there had never been a male OR a female to fight with/over. But knowing he was going to be given an advantage was a privilege he was more than willing to receive.
"I've... always wanted to belong to a herd also," he admitted. Not that it was much as an admission or anything.
And willingly, he followed her ...without a clue of what he was getting himself into.
