The Fortune RP engine is a 'beta' freeform RP ruleset that I
have created. It's free to use by anyone as long as
credit is not stolen from me. If you decide to use this
engine please put [Fortune] in the RP title, so I can
watch and gather data about the engine's use. Thanks.

The engine is currently in beta test in the Intermediate Rp:

Suggestions and Addons are welcome to be posted here.
Anything I deem a perfect addition will be added to the
RP engine and credit will be given to the rightful intellectual
property owner.

I hope you enjoy my new RP Engine. And try it out in one
of your RPs.

Game Mechanics:

Requires: 1-2 Game Masters.

There are many mechanics in this game. Please read to make
sure you understand what they are.

RPs using the Fortune Engine are generally Freeform.
However, it turns into a turnbased freeform style
after you accept a challenge.

News Clippings:

Basic news that is posted every day which can be
used as a conversational item. Or affect the actual RP.

Points System:


Over the course of the RP, you will be given challenges.
These challenges will give you points, these points will
basically represent your characters report card.
The more point you obtain, the more options that will
be available to your character.

[This is a dynamic use for the points system. In the
near future, I hope to create a stat/leveling system to
the game engine.]


Fortune System:


The fortune system is a daily posting of an index of
statistics. Every morning, unless the current RP
story specifies otherwise, will have a new fortune
posted everyday.

This fortune system will be primarily used to for
challenges.

The stats that will be covered with the fortune
system are. Money, Romance, and Personal.
Money - Refers to Challenges that gives points.
Romance - Refers to Challenges that gives items that modify
the amount of points you get for other challenges. (Multipliers).
Personal - Refers to Challenges that gives you benefits.
(Benefits are anything that helps your character along the
year. Jobs for instance.)
[These are dynamic naming conventions.
Basically they are three variable names.
X,Y,Z.]


The stat indexes are from 1-100.
Anything lower than 50 is a negative index.
Anything higher than 50 is a positive index.
50 is neutral.

[Fortune Stats are determined randomly using
a random number generator.]
[In the future, I wish to expand the Fortune
Stats System to automatically raise or lower
index scores by prior history.]
[Many programming variables are needed
so I don't expect to complete it soon]


If you receive a challenge that has a negative index
and you fail it. There is a consequence for failing.
Which is the loss of the amount of points in the
150 - variable.
[The number can be anything, depending how hard
you want it.]



If there is a positive index, there is no consequence,
and if you win, you receive that index as bonus points.
Which you can use modifiers to alter, and get more points.

Challenges:


Whenever I see good RPing from a player, I will post a
challenge for them. It is up to the player specified in the
challenge to accept it or not. Challenges come in three
different subjects (previously stated in the fortune system):
Money, Romance, and Personal.

For Example:
I will post: [Character Name - Challenge] in a specific
color. The player would then post: [Challenge Accepted]
in the same color. When you accept a challenge, you must
immediately stop posting till the challenge is posted.

When you receive a challenge, it becomes a turn based
system. (Players must continue to post in the challenge
color).

Challenge Example: School Trip - Personal - Hard
[The Challenge always has a title. Followed by it's Variable Stat, and its
difficulty.]

Due to some mix-up with the schedules, you missed the train home.
There are no more trains running tonight, but you have to get home by
tomorrow morning to write your final exams! It takes twelve hours to
run home and you don't know the directions.

During your trip home you also have to study!

You cannot:
Hitch Hike.
Take the Bus.
Take a Plane.
Take a train.
Use any Unnatural Superpowers.
[Rules against the Challenged Player]

You must reference:
Arcade
Food
Lack of Money
[items/ideas that the player must reference]

NPCs:
Your choice. [List of NPCs he can talk to]

Find your way home. Use any method, or any talk to any NPC around.

Win Conditions:
Roll Dice 1d6 > 3
Land 4-6 three times.

Lose Conditions:
Land 1-3 three times.

RP ends @ 99:99:99 Gaia Time.(Some decent time limit)

How it works is that:

The player to reference all those items or subjects in the RP.
The GMs is to make it hard for him/her to get home by use of NPCs
or environmental hazards.

Player is only allowed to post once before letting me intervene.
The player is only allowed to reference one subject/object
per turn. The player must also roll a 6-sided dice(die).
If the player lands above 3(4-6), GM posts a positive response.
Else, GM posts negatively.
If player chooses to talk to an NPC, it is automatically the GMs turn.

Item System:
Items are granted to players that successfully finish
challenges. There are two types of items.

Modifiers: They are used to either modify bonus points or
Change the index rating of a fortune stat, if you're unlucky.
Modifiers can be used before or after a challenge.
And have one use only.

Benefits: Items that will allow you to do things that other
players cant. Such as: a Job Item. Is a permanent modifier
that will allow you to gain extra bonus points for every
Money challenge. Benefit items are passive.
