Describe each console according to genre of music. List the consoles: Xbox 360 Wii PS3 and put next to them the genre(s) of music that best describes the attitude of the console/ describes the (types of)people who play each console. Feel free to discuss and argue with one another. mrgreen

Meta_Fish 360 - Rock PS3 - Metal Wii - Techno Dude, PS3 is so not metal.
PS3 has a more Bluesy Jazz vibe through shape, sound, and even the intro graphic as simple as the rising tides of water is. Or you could get into a more Fusion Jazz Hip hop type of deal. It's a little more stylish with not as many people into seeing as Jazz and Blues faded from the mainstream and fusion Jazz hip hop really hasn't been adopted by the mainstream crowd, having been abandoned for the sounds of Gangsta Rap.
However, should the PS3 advance into the popular ring it'd follow the lines of Classic Rock. For now it's sitting amongst the Blues/Jazz style.
Granted that's just the machine itself being in piano black, third place, and least amount of games.
360 has a more early 90s Alternative, Post Punk Rock vibe. Not quite the hairbands, but not yet at the boy bands but getting there.
Wii follows that more pop, easy access music. Probably could equate it with how J-rock and J-pop penetrate the markets.

The 360 is mainstream rap/hip-hop music. Hip-hop requires no actual skill to create and produce, and oftentimes does not even require musical instruments to make a song. It is, however, very popular. So, just like with the 360, the minds behind hip-hop do the very minimum amount of work in order to cash in on a medium that the public will (for some reason) eat up whole. And yet, out of this tepid soup of IQ-melting garbage, a truly entertaining song can sometimes emerge.
The PS3 is classical music. Classical music takes alot of talent and skill to produce, and is often expensive due to the amount of musicians one classical piece might require. It is also a highly underappreciated genre. While it's true that some classical pieces that haven't been given the amount of work they need can often turn out lackluster, the gems of classical music are true works of art that influence music as a whole. All music-lovers eventually find something here that they can really enjoy.
The Wii is Broadway showtunes. Overall, showtunes are catchy, fun, ultimately mindless, but deep down inside, everyone really secretly loves it. The bad showtunes are violations of nature and shouldn't exist, but the good ones are fun for life. Showtunes are especially fun when you have a friend that you can sing them with.

O.O I'm creeped out by the fact that I was thinking along the same lines as you. Only difference: Wii = Pop. I say Pop because Pop is Popular Music. The Wii's popular with...casual gamers especially (I'm not saying just popular with casual, just that a LOT of casual gamers are picking up the chibi consol). Pop fans...that I've seen...aren't...hardcore. Most pop fans I know are samplers of music. They don't really care about one type, they just go with it. Much like the casual gamers and the wii. That's the best way I can explain my reasoning... Another reason why the 360 is rap/& hip hop is because online fanboys talk like that on XBox Live.

German metal is "trendy"? neutral @ Sakyh: Yeah, I can see what you're saying. I was thinking of comparing the Wii to the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40, but changed my mind.

When you guys say the PS3 is like Metal it makes me think you've never even seen one. Seriously, as a system, it makes less sound than the 360 or Wii.

Crimson The Blade When you guys say the PS3 is like Metal it makes me think you've never even seen one. Seriously, as a system, it makes less sound than the 360 or Wii. I think she just means that the system is complicated like (apparently) death metal. Although I'm not sure what's so complicated about death metal. Slam on a few power chords over and over and belch some indescernible lyrics into the microphone. Also, you have to be Eastern European, male, and ugly. "The gift of death metal does not shine on the good-looking."
