I remember my friend. His name was Todd. He wore light outfits with a blood red cape, had brown hair, and eyes, and was a bit mistevious. The thing was, Todd HATED being called imaginary...told me to call him "Invisable". While I haven't seen him since childhood, I believe he's real. Who else thinks that their imaginary friends weren't imaginary?

It's a pretty common theory now that the imaginary friends of children could really be spirits trying to reach out to someone. And since children are more opened they can see them. So some people now think that most imaginary friends are really spirits.
However even a young child will work out that imaginary means 'not real' and they don't want to admit that they (may) not have are 'real' friends so instead call their imaginary friend invisable.
It's likely one a small percentage of imaginary friends are spirits. Most are likely just thought up by the child when they're lonely.

Well from how you've described him I would say, personally, he sounds like an imaginary friend. But that's only what I think, I've never meet you or him so I can't pass jugdement.

Hmm.. interesting. I'm really not sure if my imaginary friend was a ghost or not. He was a fox that would amuse me by running along side the car whenever my parents were driving somewhere. I'm pretty sure it was my imagination, but hey, you never know...

Sorry to drag up an old convo but I have another theory to add to this. I have heard of people, primarily teens, who create geists through uncontrolled negative energy. I myself have been subject to this. What if an imaginary friend is simply condensed energies?

You mean a Poltergeist (german for noise ghost) right?
The theory that is coule be a confensed energy does fit, but the theory on the plotergiest being created by teenagers also claims that the energy is caused by the on set of puberty.
But the problem with this theory it that poltergeists are not just formed by teenagers as is commonly thought. According to researchers at the Rhine Center, the "poltergeist effect" is the outward manifestation of psychological trauma (wikipedia).
My point is that in order to create a poltergeist someone has to be under a lot of mental and something physical stress while an imaginary friend that is made by a lonely child is most like just imaginary. But one of a child that seem happy in itself could possiblly be a spirit called by a form of energy created by the child.
Sorry got a little off track.

When I was a little girl, I had a few friends and thats all you really need when you are in preschool/kindergarten age. I had an imaginary friend named Sally who would follow me around the house, had a white dress, pretty curly blonde hair and a nice red bow in her hair.
My friend who sees spirits in my house (i can sense them, but cant see them. I'm completely used to them so i dont notice them, ya know?) one day described, to my shock, my immaginary friend. We figured out the spirits name is Sally and she still follows me around to this day

There is also a theory that children are more open minded and thus more likely to be able to interact with paranormal beings. It's also worth noting that there is very wide range of such beings, and this range includes being with the ability to shapeshift. I have heard of cases where spirits appeared as something they weren't because whoever they were approaching would be more comfortable meeting them in that form. I've also heard of guardians doing that.
I have also met entities who say they aren't actually dead, but what they call invisible. In other words, to many people they "aren't there" but they aren't a spirit, demon, angel, shadow, or anything like that. So i think it's interesting that your imaginary friend insisted he was "invisible"
Another point in this issue is that in some cases one may be gifted as a child, but lose their abilities later in life. Usually this is a result of disbelief and "shutting off" one's abilities.
I can't say anything for sure unless I can actually meet a person, but there is a strong possibility for many imaginary friends to be not-so-imaginary. However, I still believe some imaginary friends may be nothing more than the creations of imaginative minds.

My "Imaginary Friend" was a little goth boy, surprisingly enough. He was fun to talk to and always listened. He wore all black, naturally, and had spiky, multicolored hair. He hated being called "imaginary" as well. I would tell my friends about him and I swear, I could see him next to me, crossing his arms and glaring at me. I miss him so much, and I think I get that he was a ghost who was attracted to who I would become. A teenage goth girl who isn't afraid to say that she believes ghosts exist, which they do!

Thats very interesting. When I was little I had an imaginary friend, who didnt like being called imaginary. His name was Ian. He was always there with me, telling me not to climb that tree or to pay attention in class. He was older than me and he always had a smile on his face. He was like the big brother I always wanted but never had the chance to have. He took an active role as my protecter. That of course didnt change the fact that I fell out of some tree somewhere every summer and hurt myself. But he had the weirest habits. He used to cross himself while saying something every time I kissed a flower or said goodnight to the trees. And whenever we came home after playing in the woods he would make sure we both walked between the lilac bushes that guarded the yard 2 feet from the gate and 3 feet apart. Standing like soliers. When I asked him he crossed himself and said it was to protect the yard. I never understood that but I make sure my little siblings walk between them when we get home. I dont see him as much now but every now and then I'll see a glimps of a tall boy in a white hoodie watching me. But I never see his face anymore.

It sounds like a spirit guide, hun. There's a possibility of it being a ghost, but if you can see it in such great detail, it's most likely an imaginary friend, or possibly a spirit guide. If you want to find out, I believe meditation may help[astral projection comes in later @.@]. I don't know much about the subject, and the only person I know who has a strong connection with their guide was approached at a very young age and wasn't left to find their guide[her guide is rather...how do I put it...assertive. I've never seen her nor spoke to her, but I've sensed her presence a few times.]
Do some research on it, if you want. Spirit guides can be helpful, but you'll want to make sure it's real and your not just seeing things.
[I haven't actually erm...seen my guide. Sometimes I get the feeling that someone is watching me from a close distance, but it's not a threatening or spine-tingling feeling like a ghost or electronic object gives off]

Did you just call me 'hun'?....Well anyway I have not seen him in detail since I was about 9. Since then he became harder and harder to see. But he was wearing what looked like a white hoodie. I never considered it important to know what he was wearing so I never took a note of it.
A guide? Well, he told me not to do bad things and tried to keep me away from the dangerous stunts I used to pull. Like this once in Kindergarten, I was bored and I had the brilliant idea to walk across the top of the monkey bars. Much to his protest I got up and walked across twice before I almost gave my teacher a heart attack and she made me get down. He scowled at me and said that it was a stupid fool-hardy prank and that I should be ashamed of myself.
He made me apologize to my teacher and tell my mom. Come to think of it, things like that happened alot. Now its just a nagging thought at the back of my mind telling me, "Thats a bad idea." or "Don't do that!" I havet spoken to or seen him in quite some time now. But whenever I do something stupid I feel like I'm being watched.

I havet spoken to or seen him in quite some time now. But whenever I do something stupid I feel like I'm being watched. My guide does simular things, but the most recent incident was last week. On tuesday morning, a week ago, I was walking to my grandmother's car so that she could take me to school, and she told me that she had a really bad feeling- REALLY bad feeling. Not a few seconds later, I felt it too. I assured her that I would be extra careful. During breakfest, some friends of mine and I decided we were gonna skip school. I took note to be very careful not to get caught leaving the grounds. Not 2 hours until school ended, my mother called me and told me that the school couldn't find us, and that she had called the cops. yeah... Also, while I was in ISS for [getting caught] skipping school, I was sitting behind one of the people I skipped with, and we were writing notes to eachother. (I never learn, lol) I got one from her, and I was going to reply, but then I got that bad feeling, and my spirit guide told me, "You should wait, now isn't the best time. I don't want you to get in more trouble!" So, I sat and did my work patiently. Not a minute later, the ISS teacher got up, walked down the isle, and took up this one girl's cell phone when she was texting. I let out a sigh.... Ever since then, I learned to listen to that bad feeling, and listen more to my Gaurdian. Hope this sparks interest! =3
