Kal wasn't sure he liked the look of the sky today.
He stood at the river's edge and sipped from the fast moving water, occasionally glancing upwards in hopes something had changed. The sky was completely overcast, the fast moving clouds seemed threatening with the possibility of rain. The little white stallion didn't mind the blustery, chilling wind, nor would he mind getting rained on, he just didn't like the sky getting darker. A dark sky was unpleasant during the day, and it would be downright horrible that night if the clouds did indeed choose to rain.

(Please note that for RP purposes Bax only has his back leg covers, necklace, and earring. The shirt, pants, and belt are not used in RP) While one fretted about the darkening sky, another enjoyed it.
Lurking in the shadows cast by nearby trees, another stallion watched the smaller as he drank from the river. Bax allowed the other a few moments of piece before deciding to announce his presence. Calmly he stood, and strolled towards the river. If the other hadn't scented him, it would appear as though he materialized from the darkness itself.
He was a confusing one, to say the least. The sweet smell of roses followed the Kalona stallion...though it wasn't too hard to see why. The base of his wings were stained red, probably from a mixture of both old blood, and the current crushed rose petals. A bit of juice left over from the roses dripped off the wings, greatly resembling blood. The odd tail and sharp horns screamed evil, but the calm smirk accompanying them could lead one to believe otherwise.
"So...what's a little guy like you doing out here with the big bad storm, hrm?..."

The moment Kal realized he wasn't alone, he almost choked on a mouthful of water and whirled around to see the stallion he had not been aware of. Only now the wind swirled in his direction, blowing about his bangs and scraggly mane, and bringing with it the scent of roses.
"I-it's not storming yet, I was taking a drink."
His voice betrayed his nervousness, but the friendly little stallion believed he was simply edgy because he was caught off guard on such a dark day. He had never seen a true Kalona before and didn't recognize what the horns and tail meant, but even the calm smile couldn't set him completely at ease.

"Yet being the key word..."
Even as he spoke, the darkening sky advanced further. It almost seemed like the new stallion had brought the darkness with him. With an amused snort, the larger Kalona looked over Kal. Slowly the calm smile turned more predatory in nature.
"See, the thing about storms is...it can be nice and calm one minute..."
Bax strolled closer, watching for a reaction.
"And utterly chaotic the next..."
A hoof stamp accompanied the statement, putting particular emphasis on the word chaotic.
"It's dangerous to be out alone..."

Kal unwillingly took a step backwards as the larger stallion approached, picking up his foot quickly as his hoof splashed into the cold water of the river. His ears turned back a bit as he regarded the other with nervous blue eyes. This was the first time he had met a stallion who was truly threatening, and the calmness of the encounter frightened him.
"I-I'm not afraid of getting a little wet."
It took every last bit of willpower Kal possessed to lift his head in a more confident manner, and keep most of his fright out of his voice. This stranger didn't feel safe to be around, but the little stallion didn't feel quite so much like prey if he pretended he wasn't afraid.

"A storm's true danger doesn't come with the water it drops, but rather the fear it brings. Fear makes creatures do silly things."
Long tail whipping behind him, Bax merely stood his ground. True, if he advanced further maybe Kal would simply step off into the river. But, watching him fidget just on the edge was just as fun.
"Loud noises, fancy lights...some have been terrified by far less than this. You truly are a brave soul to not mind the storm at all...but what about those lurking in the storm?"

Kal kept his head up, it was a relief to know the other stallion had stopped advancing. It wasn't a relief to know he was still being toyed with. His ears twisted around, but most noises were lost under the sound of the wind and river.
"Anyone lurking around will just get as wet as I will."
Brave indeed. Perhaps there was something to playing confident, his voice sounded less anxious this time around. His words could have even been a veiled threat just as were the words of the larger stallion, his horn probably looked sharp enough even if he had never needed to use it in self defense.

"I have a feeling they don't mind..."
Bax snorted and finally drew away from Kal. The real reason he had come near here was to get a drink...harassing another stallion was merely a bonus. As the Kalona bent to get a drink, one eye remained focused on Kal to be sure he wasn't up to anything. That horn was surely sharp, but so were his. And if it came down to it, Bax had no doubt he'd be able to rip the other apart easily.

"Maybe not, it's not important."
Kal stepped aside, giving the larger stallion more room along the edge of the river, and at the same time giving himself an escape route if he needed one. In fact, it would be stupid if he didn't take that escape while he could.
With his focus still directed towards the other, he turned and forced himself to calmly walk away. No looking back, no bolting. Kal had a feeling any fearful gesture at all would attract the creepy pale stallion's attention like blood attracted wolves.

Typical. Everyone always ran once they thought the coast was clear. Too bad for them it simply made the game more fun.
Bax took his time getting a drink. No reason to go rushing after Kal and finish the fun quickly. Once that was finished, the large stallion slowly rose and trailed along after the other stallion.
"Leaving so soon?..."

"Yes. I'm hungry."
Kal wasn't surprised in the slightest to hear the larger stallion trail along behind him. He felt his heart sink, but he was not surprised. He knew he was being hunted now.
The little alicorn's heart was racing as he carefully walked away from the river, not once turning to look back. The forest was even darker than the riverside but the underbrush allowed him to hear every step his calm hunter made. He could keep up his outer composure while still tracking the pale stallion's movements.

"So am I."
The words carried a rather ominous tone. A Kalona was dangerous...but a hungry Kalona?
Bax walked on, not bothered in the least by his noisy footsteps. Why bother hiding? He had no reason to hide his true intentions from the little Alicorn stallion. Own heart beating calmly, he continued his slow speed pursuit.

Kal thought his heart skipped a beat entirely. Surely the other stallion just ate plants just like anyone else, and there was no real reason for him to be afraid... Yet the pale one was still behind him, and showed no indication of simply following by coincidence.
"Don't eat the shrubs with the pale feathery leaves, they have a horrid aftertaste."
Still just playing at confidence, Kal began to wonder exactly how he would get away. He still had time, but if this little misadventure drew out too long there was no way he would be able to keep a level head once darkness fell.

"I have no intention of eatting them, trust me."
Right. Trust him. An Alicorn trusting a Kalona. That'd truly be a sight wouldn't it? Smirking at the other's attempt at confidence, the pale one continued his stalking.
"Most in your place would have run by now...any particular reason you aren't?"

Kal's ears lay flat backwards, but he resisted the urge to just bolt. The wind was strong enough to blow through his feathers even as deep into the forest as they were, he would stand no hope of escaping if he tried to take to the sky. He couldn't fly well in strong winds, and the frightening stallion behind him had wings too.
"I wouldn't want to turn an ankle trying to run in a forest."
Perhaps now he was just stalling for time as he tried to think things through, but it was hard trying to come up with a plan through his growing panic. He changed his course slightly, hoping to head towards a newer area of the forest where the trees were newer, and the undergrowth was thicker. There he might have an advantage over the larger stallion if he had to flee.
