Yes clearly I want this conversation to stay civil. When we conflict about which dubs we like and hate remember not to insult the other and their opinion. They may like something you hate and so on.
So what are your five favorite dubs? what are your most hated dubs? Whats your Favorite dub company? What do you think of dubs in general? Anything else.
Favorite dubs: #1 Cowboy Bebop: The dub is the closest to flawless I have seen. #2 Full Metal Alchemist: Second in greatness only to bebop #3: Ghost in the shell,: I hate the show but LOVE the dub. #4 When they cry: Here is where people will disagree with me but I love it. The VA for Rena is one of the greatest voice roles ever. #5 Trigun: I don't know just always loved it.
Most hated dubs #1: Cardcaptors: The horror of the worst dub ever. No good voices, a rewritten script, crap. #2: (4kids) One Piece: Hammerguns and Sanji's voice speak for them selves. #3:Sailor Moon: Males become female and names change and it goes on. #4: Love Hina: Not butchered like the others but it does have the worst Osaka accent ever. #5: Yu Gi Oh: Use to be much higher, at number one then I rewatched some other bad dubs.
Funimation and Viz ate tied as my favorite companies. Viz listens to fans and tries to fix their animes based on what fans say. FUNi? They saved One Piece.
Now I like most dubs. I like good dubs and hate bad dubs and it just so happens most dubs are good. Simple as that.
Not much else for now. Just I am going to attempt to be civil but if you attack something I think is good I will fight back, friendly at first.
Note dubs that don't exist like Deathnote can't be hated.

Favorites - Note, these are all in Spanish.
1- Sakura Card Captor (Venezuela) - Nearly 100% equal to the original 2- Evangelion (Spain) - as good as the original, and the VA for Asuka is from Germany, so she's got a german accent (as she should.) 3- Mirmo Zibang (aka Mirumo de Pon) (Chile) - For a "kiddy" show, they still put a lot of effort into the VAs sounding right for the characters. 4- Ghosts At School (Venezuela) - The voices were quite similar to the original, though there's too much slang added (and not all Spanish is the same.) 5- Digimon 01-Frontier (Mexico) - Unlike the US version, the voices here sounded like they should.
Least favorite - Some Spanish, some from the U.S.
1- Card Captors (USA) - It's the "All your base" of dubs, the apogee of lame, the worst attempt ever at turning a shoujo show into a shonen. 2- Rurouni Kenshin (Argentina) - Kaoru sounds like a crackwhore on withdrawal, Kenshin sounds like a geek, Yahiko sounds like Kero with a stick up his a**, and Shishio thinks he's Freezer (androgynous voice) 3- Digimon Tamers (USA) - I was ticked off at how Ruki (Rika) sounded like a cheerleader, and Takato like an emo b***h (got'em VAs switched there? lol ) 4- Sailor Moon (Any and all languages but Japanese.) They just don't try. At all. 5- Slam Dunk (Spanish) EVERYONE SHOUTS! FOR NO REASON! HELL YEAH! AWESOME! BOOYAH! rolleyes
I don't have a favorite dubbing company, as they all have hits and misses. I have some in my shitlist forever, namely Nelvana, Cloverway, DiC and 4Kids.
About dubs in general... They're a need. Specially in countries like mine, where intranets suck so downloading off internet is quite slow, if it wasn't for cable TV getting dozens and dozens of shows (some unlicensed in the US) I wouldn't have watched a lot of anime shows.
Yugioh Spanish needs a special mention. Why? Because it's based off the 4Kids crap of a dub, but shows a dub can sometimes save the original, as it's overally better than the US one. It's like that Abridged Series thing in YouTube, but with a brain or two to back it up. wink
And good dubs can really save BAD anime, too. Viewtiful Joe was one lame anime originally (I saw several episodes) but the Spanish dub's hillarious.

~FMA was super good. ~~I respect Vic Mongnana... last name hard to spell. ~~~As well as Aaron Dismuke.
...I normally don't have issues with dubs, but I prefer subs.
Sometimes it is the hiring people and most of the ones people don't like - come out of Canada/done by Nelvana. xD Or 4KIDs. (double xD) I don't like when characters will outta' nowhere - get an accent. (Joey for the Yu-Gi-Oh! dub.) What's that all about? (Molly from Sailor Moon!)

Tamers is actually the only Digimon season whose dub I don't hate. Adventure two had the worst dub of Digimon.

I hate the YYH dub. One of the worst. I have never understood how this dub is so liked while superior ones are hated. It has horrible voices like Kurabawa who sounds like he has a frog stuck in his throat, crappy translations (FUNi can Americanize too much sometimes, five different moves are translated as the "Spirit wave") Worst thing is how the uncut dub is filled with lots of curse words and vulger language that was not in the original Japanese version.
But this is opinions, Naruto and Bleach have much better dubs in my opinion.

One thing that nags me about dubs, is when they feel the unavoidable need to unjapanize names (see, I can make up words. I rule.)
Like, the Sailor Moon dubs? 95% of my hatred for it is the raping gangbang wrongdoing to everyone's name.
I mean, come on... Lita? Whatever crack the dubbers were smoking there, I'll stay away from.
Pokemon started okay, Ash = Satoshi, Misty = Kasumi, but then they ******** up other things (May = Haruka? Unless it's a may breeze, I don't think so.)
Or attacks. The Spanish Dragon Ball is superior to the NA one, simply because they didn't need the feel to violate attack names. Whoever thought up "Gatling Gun" needs to be hung from a pit full of rabid Vegetta (Bejita!) fangirls with dental floss.
And don't get me started on Krillin's "Destructodisc." That sounds like something out of old, lame Hanna Barbera superhero toons, and that's wrong in one too many levels.

That is a much more suitable translation then May thats for sure.

I must point out, many Spanish dubs are amazing. I like some even more than the Japanese versions. They tend to do a much better voice ACTING
Favorite Dubs:
1) Sakura CardCaptors (Spanish)
2) Ranma 1/2 (spanish)
3) Full Metal Alchemist (English, haven't watched it in spanish)
I'll leave it there, because I can't think of the other 2, I tend to avoid dubs
Most Hated Dubs:
1) Naruto Dubs (English, spanish, whatever they all suck)
2) Yu Gi Oh! (same as above...)
3)Inu Yasha (Spanish, haven't dared to watch the english dub)
4) One piece (4kids murders yet again another anime)
5) Sailor Moon Dubs (see #1)
My Favorite dub company....right now, it'd have to be FUNimation for the amazing job they did with FMA, but they all have their highs and their lows.
I don't usually like dubs. But if I must watch them, I prefer the Spanish (Mexican) dubs. Why Spanish? Better voice acting. Why Mexican? Because they have tons of experience at dubbing and have managed to do most dubs accent-less (some accents, such as the Mexican and the Argentinian, bug me to no end. It also gives it a more professional feeling to the dub altogether).

Yeah, what bothers me about Argentina's dub attempts, is they can never steer clear of their accents and slang. If a dub's made in that country, I already know it'll suck bigtime (Argentina = 4Kids of Spanish dubs.)
And I'll agree about Ranma 1/2 too... Not within my fave five dubs, but still one of the best I've seen... IF you can get the uncut version. Damn "show no boobs" policy of some countries. rolleyes

I understand not liking it but how is it worse then the rest of your list which are the worst dubs ever. Naruto has one of the most loyal dubs ever. the voices are fitting but not great and nothing is changed. Really what is so wrong with Naruto's dub anyway?

If they gave it a bit later they could just screw the editing razz @Creativerealms: I think I answered that on the other thread, but I'll put it again. The voices in the Naruto dubs always manage to annoy me. I don't know why but they do. And the editing sometimes goes a bit too far.

Well, ah.....
Favorite has to be Ghost in the Shell. The flaps were next to flawless, and Motoko's voice could not possibly be more perfect.
Naruto, because aside from minor language, nothing was edited out. Sometimes, the mouth flaps can get a little askew(Dousu was horrible, and the guy didn't even have a freakin' mouth!) But the voices are perfect. They couldn't have gotten a better VA for Sasuke or Lee. (Lee sounds eerily like his japanese equivalent) I was plesently Surprised with Tsunade (Not as smooth as her seiyu, but still rich and deep) and Naruto's "Belive it!" while not quite as endearing as "ttebayo!" still makes my hair stand on end, and Jiraiya's hit the pervetrted old man type right on the mark.
FMA. Again, flawless. No flaps to be seen. Language and blood was kept intact, and there weren't any confusing americanization's since it wasn't set in Japan in the first place.
Least favorite dub is Once Piece, hands down. Hammer guns, sour-creaming people, smoldering lolopops and vacant mouths(That's probably a serious edical condition) just....no.

Note I have no problem with you hating it but how are the voices worse then the rest of the shows on your list and how is the editing worse then Card captors? Naruto keeps most of the blood, most of the violance and all of the peverted stuff. It is underedited for kids because it's NOT edited for kids. it's the least edited toonami dub ever.
