Little Boko-boko was alone still. Her baby mind-one that ran around chasing butterflies while her belly growled... did not have the sense to tell her that her muscle mass was leaving her-her little eyes were loosing their luster... and she was filthy. Her normally peach and brown colored pelt was black with dirt. Since her Mommy and Daddy left her alone-to go hunting-and never returned... she had been wandering. She ate little, a couple of bugs-thats what her mind told her was right. She was walking now, along the small creek she had found. The only part of her that was normal colored where her tiny paws... the peachy color and pink pads-had the dirt washed away by the cool water. Good thing she drank alot-that was helping to keep her alive and alert. Even though, she needed food-water was very important. Now-she had been walking for a long time... her little feets hurt... and she was tired.

She was getting more and more tired lately. She stumbled and sat down, shaking her tiny head. SHe was so hungry... and she couldn't find mommy and she couldn't find daddy and it made her sad. She let a tiny sob... looking around her sadly with blue eyes. She was lonely as well... she had met one lady lion who was blue and didn't like her and... she wanted something to snuggle with.

Mommah She said sadly.

Drawn by the feel of famine the sellinton like god padded along the bank of the river. It wasn't that he didn't like water, far from it, the water usually led him to places he needed to be but he only used the water ways out of necessity, and it was certainly not necessary for him to enter this body of water, he could wait for the one filled with hunger to come out.

It was then that he paused at the waters edge and looked out at the ragged form of nana, he had no hand in this one, she was starving without his help. Orphan. His thin ragged head looked far too large for the rest of his body and seemd like it must fall from the bone thin neck which held it.

"Boko-boko." His voice called out to the tiny creature in the water though the body did not move and the lips did not open, the voice was disjointed, apart from the body which stood looking as if it would die at any second.

A long ragged breath drew in through the tied lips rattling the body, the breath wheezed throughout the bone thin form, every bone seemingly tapping against the next in the effort of breathing. Yet he stood and waited for the little lioness, stoney eyes showing nothing but a stone dead surface.

The small cublet whimpered in her sadness. She had been looking and looking for Mom and Dad for ever... Her little tongue was dry, she should drink water... but she wanted mommys warm milk and the small tid-bits of meat they had given her lately. It wasn't fair... She was a good girl like they had asked her to be... she had stayed put in that small area-where they had left her-waiting. Now, the little baby was so lonely, she'd snuggle with anything.

She mumbled her sorrow, wandering over too the water to drink some more-cause it seemed right-when she thought she heard someone say her name-not Nana-but her real name. The name her Mommy called her. She turned her small head towards where she had heard her real name. What she say-was confusing too her. A big-male lion-like her father only different. Her daddy didn't look like that. This stranger was big and strange to her-but her childlike instincts made her unaware of his hideous appearance.

She blinked up at him with sad-watery-blue eyes.
I Can't find her... My mommy is gone... She said sadly. She waddled towards him-her little sad face turned up at him. Do you know my Mommy or Daddy? She asked-a question that a true child would ask a stranger.

The bone thin male said not a word for a lont time, the body that stood before the tiny Nana breathing heavily, stony grey eyes didn't even look at her but when he spoke he certainly spoke to her. "They are not of my domain Boko-Boko" He spread his wings then, those wings simply ragged peices of membrane that had perhaps at some point in his exsistance been full wings.

"You on the other hand..." The voice was always disjointed, an airy voice that if nana had known it was only for her may have been worrying. His mouth nor body ever reacted to his words, his eyes did not change, the ears did not twitch even though flies occassionally alighted on their ragged forms.

"I am known as Jaddis." at last the body reacted but only the head moved in a very ungraceful nod. "You are one of mine until you pass in to life or death." Certainly his words could be misconstrued, especially by a cub as young as nana.

Nana blinked at this stranger. She wasn't sure what a 'do-maayn' was but she took it as he didn't know where her Mommy and Daddy were. She wiped her filthy paw across her filthy face-trying to imitate the adults that had once been apart of her life. She looked up at the stranger, suddenly startled. The two wings that attached too his back-she was confused. Birds had 'flappies' but this lion had them too? She looked confused,. her tiny little eyes blinking. She took a step closer too him, sniffing him.

She looked up at him and spoke his name in her head, over and over so she wouldn't remember it. Jaddis. That was a weird name. She sat down-looking puzzled. She was his? She looked up at him and spoke-[/colorI don't understand... death?" She asked, her tiny voice a bit worried. little did she know, her parents-were both dead. She would never see them again and would soon have them replaced. She shook her head. Older lions talked so funny. I want my Mommy... I miss her She said-being that she was a typical disconnected baby.

The body sat slowly, every bone showing through under the coat, his ribs becomeing prominant, his spine seeming like it must break through the thin skin so sparcely did it seem it was covered in fur when he performed this manouver. "I am Famine Boko-boko, you starve so I am here because the fates call to me to attend upon you if but once until the fates decide which way your exsistance must travel." He stated simply, though the lips never moved in reply, he did take in a slow, bone rattling breath which shook the shadowey figure.

"I cannot call upon your mother child, it is you whom must find her or another to care for you, your parents are beyond my sight, they do not starve so I cannot sence them. I only know you because you hunger, I cannot sday if you will live or die only that at the moment you sdtarve, that is my domain I cannot look in to others to find where your parents rest." that ragged breath flowed out of his body then , a slow death like rattle, which made it seem like he ould die right there before the small cub but he did not he continued to sit upright his stoney gaze fixed upont he small lioness.

Nana stared up at the god, wondering why his breath sounded funny. She had once heard a rabbit breath like that-and later she found it not moving anymore. She was curious of this best, even though she did not really understand what he was saying. Her small child mentality told her to listen-but those big words confused her. All she understood of his speech, was that he didn't know where Mommy and Daddy were. She looked sadly down at he ground-her little blue eyes glimmering. She stood up and waddled over too his thin legs, sniffing him. He smelled funny-a bit diffrent from what she was used too and she sneezed.

Mommy and daddy are resting? She asked ,looking up at him innocently. The fact she was with another being comforted her-she knew she shouldn't be alone and the fact he was there-made her comfortable enough to pur.

Jaddis often found young mortals facinating, for a thousand and one reasons. The fact that they could look upon something teetering on the brink of death, or so it seemed, and not be afraid, baffled him. He had spoken to many young mortals in his time upon the earth and most of them reacted as this one did. Perhaps it was the hunger which gave them bravery.

His long boney tail flickered as his head tilted to watch her, his ears moving to listen to that soft puur, he could never tell if a mortal would live and die. He only knew when they passed from his rhealm into anothers. He had never looked for death to ask the reaper if a being he had spoken to had passed through the pearly gates, it was not his buisness to do that, it was his buisness to watch them until they passed in to the world of death or in to one of the places of life.

"I cannot tell you child, it is not my place to know such things." He let out a rattling breath once again his stoiney eyes watching the cub. Jaddis had long since given up his right to feel anyuthing but seeing young things suffer did not amuse him in the least, those whom had lived their lives and squandered their gifts, those whom had chosen passion over preservation, those whom had dopne something to the land to cause a starvation, their suffering he could watch, but soemthign so young, it made him hurt. The bone thin body rattled as fro a breif moment he let his mind rejoin his body to feel the pain which the cub could feel, before he spoke again. "You must follow this river until you find what you are looking for, the fates are watching you Boko-boko." He whispers, his voice much less harsh in her ears now. He did not often give advise, but he could see her walking away down the river, he could feel that this was the way that her starvation would lead her though he would not follow. He had attended her as was necessary. He would sit for longer and watch the little lioness, that was also his way, to speak to those whom wished to be spoken to. She wished for comfort that he could not provide but he could at least speak to her and send her in the right direction.

Nana didn't understand why this big lion looked so diffrent from Mommy and Daddy and frankly, she didn't care at the moment-her belly aches and fear of being alone over rode her fears. She was in reality, pretty afraid of water. She never wandered past her toes... she and her parents all had a fear of it-for some reason. For what Nana did not know, was water that took her parents away. She was left on dry land, while they went searching for food. Her mothers milk was running dry... and in order to keep it flowing, her mother had to eat. Mother was weak-and father was giving up his rations of food to keep Nana and his Mate well.

It happened so quickly. They found hunting together to be the easiest-but they had to leave their baby alone... so they kept her in a safe spot-an old-dried out hollow log. They dropped her into a hole on the top, where she couldn't get out.. without alot of time and effort-or with help. This was what saved Nana... when the waters came-the log began to float-but did not turn or roll in the waters-for the log was attached to the tree's around it still, with vines and branches. It floated with Boko-boko safetly while it carried her parents away, never to be seen by their child again.

Now, all Nana could really remember about that time was water sounds and being alone... but she knew she had to stay by water... thats where she found small tid-bits of dead animals to eat... but it was barely enough. This large yellow male comforted the little child and she enjoyed his company, though his speech confused her. So, she nuzzled against his paw and looked up at him.
Mommy said to follow the water if I gots losted... She said, matter of factly.

"Your mother was correct littleone, the water will lead you away" His disjointed voice spoke directly to her and he looked down at the little ragged body of this young female. She wished to sit with him? Mortals, they confused him every time he saw them. Cold, souless eyes looked over the small body which curled close to him. "You cannot stay with me Bokoboko, you must continue your journey down this stream, it is the fates that guide you now."

He let out a slow almost even breath as his head turned to look at her his sown lips still unmoving. "Your past is gone the future is where your paws take you, let the fates guide you to life Boko-boko." His head lifted again to it's normal hang dog possition his shakey freame rattling as he clambered to his four paws. "You may see me again little one, though I wish not to, find food, find something, live with a full belly, I do not enjoy visiting those whom are like you." His brow ruptured then, it was unusual for the body to truely react. It was only in situations like theese that the god of famine felt and he did not like it. He had given up his feelings for a reason, pain was a large part of his domain. He did not enjoy these sessions because he was forced to feel, to remember his thoughts to remember who or what he was in the past to remember when or if he had ever had feelings, even touch was denied of him these days.

"Follow the waters edge boko-boko and find your life."

Little Nana was so happy to have something to lean against. The cold nights she had been suffering were horrible, and even though this creature she found, barely gave off heat, she still was comforted. She looked up at him, curious to why he didn't speak with his mouth. She blinked up at him, her head twisting this way and that way, trying to see if he had another mouth... but she didn't see one.

She looked over at the water, watching it flow. He said, that Mommy was correct. The water would indeed guide her and keep her alive, barely, but enough-so that a home could be found.

She looked up at him as he stood, rolling onto her little side with a yawn, her little pink tongue stuck out when she stopped, so the very tip was showing. She looked too the water and then up too the large lion. She blinked.

Okah... She said, giving him a charming smile. She then stood, waddled over too the waters edge and began walking down the side, her head and tail held high. Someone had told her what to do, and she was going to do it.

Letting out a shakey death rattle of a breath the large bone thin lion watched as the little female padded off in to the distance. For once his head shook and for a moment he looked even more down trodden, if that was possible. "Good luck Boko-Boko" his voice echoed after her as he padded towards the river his paws touching the cool waters and sinking in to the deapths. It was time to continue on his journey, he had done his part in this game, he had to go to the next soul now, to visit them until they crossed over in to which ever domain the fates decided they would go to.
