Tsume yawned widely as he laid in the shade of a tense tree. Such a tree was unusual for the barren lands, but the green bark of the tree made it thrive in the desert. Gazing ahead of him, he saw nothing but desert and the mountain that lay beyound the desert. There on the mountain side were many caves where him and his pack resided.
Scratching an itch on his ear, he realized that he hadn't seen any of his family in some time. Maybe it was because he was busy patrolling the packland borders in case a new wolf came onto his lands. He never turned away a new wolf, but he observed them carefully in case they would turn on him.
He was disappointed that his adopted daughter had had pups of her own, but after a while he realized that she was a grown wolf and could make her own decision on who to mate to. He wished that she didn't leave his pack and make her own with her mate. Sighing, he flopped his entire body on the ground and stared up at the sky.

Orion and Shikon could handle the pack problems for now. Tsume had been absent patrolling the pack boarders. And Zhas knew her mate was frustrated by the loss of their adopted daughter. Zhas had been rather sad to see them go, but had a feeling why she had left. The alphaess knew Raven was an adult and should be treated that way.
Still. Zhas knew Tsume needed her support and ventured out to meet her mate in the desert. Zhas gave a little howl to let her mate know she was coming. She saw Tsume lying underneath a large tree.
“Tsume,” she called as shade draped over her.

Tsume pricked his ears up slightly as he heard his mate's howl. He wasn't surprised to hear it. He was actually relieved to hear his mate's call. It seemed that life was going by slowly without her to comfort him. Sensing her nearby, he rolled over to his other side and gazed up at Zhas to hear her say his name. "Zhas," he said to her, his voice holding a slight purr in it.

Zhas walked over to her mate and gave him a loving nuzzle then lay down beside him. "I missed you." she said quietly. After all he had been going out early and walking the boarders of their land. She leaned her had against his stong shoulder.

Smiling lovingly at his mate's nuzzle, he waited for her to lay down beside him before he rested his head on her back. "And I have missed you, too," he whispered to her, happy that he was spending some time with his mate.

Zhas smiled back he was tense and he seemed frustrated still. "Is there anything you would like to talk about?" she asked her mate. Maybe it would help. If they talked. It had been such a long time since they last spoke to eachother.

He started to shake his head at his mate's question, but he stopped himself just in time. He did want to tell Zhas what was on his mind, but he was afraid of what she might say to him about what he wanted to say. "Maybe," he said, his voice shaking slightly.

Zhas licked her mates fur. "Then speak when you are ready, and I will listen." she told him in a comforting manner. She would not judge him for any of his actions. zhas had long ago chosen to stand behind him on whatever he had chosen. "I will always be here for you if there is ever anything you wish to talk about." she reminded him.

Tsume nodded his head slightly, busy digging in his thought for something he wanted to talk about. He had at least a dozen thins running around in his mind at once and he didn't know where to start. Raven was in his mind, as was the future of his two sons. Sighing, he rested his head on his mate's shoulder, happy that she was around. "I don't know what to do," he finally muttered to her. "Everything seems so...different when we started this pack. Maybe times have changed too quickly for me to keep up."

Zhas gave him an affectionate nuzzle "Then we can start with that." she told him softly. Zhas nodded "It has but times have and are changing, its the unfortunate way of the world." she paused "As for our sons, trust them to find mates of their own. They too are grown" she told him guessing that was one of his thoughts, Raven had been an intended for Shikon until she decided to choose her own mate.
Zhas trusted her two boys to find their own way.

He wanted to trust his sons to find perfect mates, but so far they haven't even begun to search for mates. That had Tsume worried about them. He didn't know when the end of his life was going to come. It might come this year or a few years from now.
gazing up at the sky, he narrowed his eyes. this summer had been particularly too dry for his liking. He hoped that the monsoon season would have started by now, but it hadn't. That had Tsume worried, too. what if the game got even more scarce than it was right now? He suppressed a shudder. "It seems that nothing is going right this year," he told his mate in a soft voice.

Zhas nodded sensing his tenseness still. True the rains were late, but they would eventually come. And if game became to scarce they would have to leave their pack lands and claim new ones. That thought did bother Zhas, but still.
"That may be..." she said and then paused "But things as I have seen before have always gotten better." she told him remembering back when the pack began, there were so few members and the game was scarcer during that time.
"Don't forget." she told her mate sternly "Our pack is one of survivors and it has always been and always will be."

Tsume nodded his head after listening to his mate speak to him sternly. He remained silent for a few tense minutes, processing her words in his mind. She was always right about everything. 'That's why she is my mate, afterall,' he thought to himself. "Yeah, we are."

Zhas let a smile appear on her muzzle. she flicked her tail back and forth contently. That seems to have made him feel better she thought to herself. But what she had said was true and would continue to be true. "Ineed we are." she nipped at her mate playfully.

Smiling, he closed his eyes for a few moments before opening them again and gazing up at the sky. "I wonder how the boys are without us around the mountain side," he muttered under his breath, not really knowing where his sons were or what they were doing.
