.hack//
This is based off the .hack// manga and anime.

In December of 2005, the Pluto's Kiss virus shut down the entire internet and major chaos followed. Traffic lights shut down, planes collided in midair, and the United States' nuclear missiles were nearly launched. The only system that was not affected was Altimit OS, the only operating system that was immune to all viruses.

After two years, the first MMORPG (Massive Multi-player Online Role Playing Game), The World, came out from the CC Corporation with the Altimit OS after the Pluto's Kiss accident.

The World is an MMORPG in a fantasy setting where player characters can be different classes, adventure by themselves to go searching through dungeons, or join with others and form parties; fight monsters and level up, collect new items and participate in special events. At the center of each server is a Root Town, which contain shops, a save point, and the Chaos Gate that players use to travel between servers in the game.

In 2007 the game was created but by 2014, the 'God' of The World, Aura, had died and the project GU was born. During the time of Aura's death and 2016, Player Killers had started to run rampant all over The World. Player Killer Killers were born as well.

This .hack// takes place in 2017, after the .hack//roots series. Zefie, Aura’s daughter, took over the control of The World shortly after .hack//roots finished. Player Killers and Player Killer Killers still run rampant around The World, but since Zefie took control, the system had begun to clean itself up and most Player Killers have been dealt with yet some still exist. Previous Player Killer Killers have begun to stop their hunt and basically everything has gotten back to normal.

In the near future, the usual raiding of the Root Towns will begin. Everyone is looking forwards to it and are prepared for any moment, or at least the ones who have played The World before. The newbies have let to hear of the raiding. Everyone looks forwards to the event because it is a planned event and usually by the end a treasure box is given out. Unbeknownst to the players, it will be a much different raid.

Areas

Root Towns

The World is comprised of a cluster of different servers distributed around the world. When players login, they materialize in the Root Town of the server they last used.

Root Towns are central areas in the game where players can socialize, create parties, and do business with other players and NPCs. Each server in The World has its own unique Root Town. They are the starting and ending point of any gaming session. In order to properly logout of the game, the player must be in a Root Town.

Each Root Town has a Chaos Gate, a large revolving ring used to transport players to areas or other servers. To transport to an Area, a series of three keywords must be entered. These keywords determine such parameters such as difficulty, terrain, and weather amongst other things. Most keyword combinations result in an Area with a field and a dungeon.

Root Towns are the only place in The World where players don't need to worry about monsters. The only exception to this rule is that once every few months, the Root Towns will be invaded by monsters; the only way for the players to stop the invasion is to defeat the monsters' leader.

Areas

A field is a large boundless expanse of terrain of finite size characterized by its open air environment and lack of living civilization. Typically most structures in the fields are the ruins of some long ancient dwellings, or the bones of some massive creature. Though it is boundless, there is a limited distance one can travel in a straight line before arriving at the same point again.

A dungeon is labyrinth across two to five descending levels of interconnected rooms. It contains a single entrance/exit that links the first level to the field and a single stairway between levels. When one enters a room that contains one or more Magic Portals, all exits are sealed until all Magic Portals have been opened. The deepest level of the dungeon contains a special room known for the distinctive floating figure, known as a Gott Statue, behind a golden treasure chest.

Special shrines characterized by an open flame are known as Symbols to players, and grant magical enchantments to nearby party members when activated. They can be found in both the field and the dungeon, though it is more rare to find it in the dungeon.

Magic Portals are revolving rings of mystical energy that activate whenever a player gets within close proximity of it. When activated, Magic Portals summon one or more monsters, though sometimes they may summon treasure chests instead.

Net Slum

The Net Slum (also known as the Cyber Slum) is an illegal field existing in The World that was created as a sanctum for trash data (though in .hack//Sign episode Unison Lios offered to make the Net Slum a legitimate Root Town as a reward to Helba for her help, which she declined), and similar unwanted/illegal cyberstuff. It is inaccessible to regular players as well as to the administration of The World, making it an ideal hideout for those who would otherwise be banned from the game. The Net Slum is run (and was supposedly built) by the player Helba, a level 99 Wavemaster of unsurpassed hacking skills. Failed AIs created by Morganna Mode Gone as well as Aura's children, after they're deleted by the Cobalt Knights, all call Net Slum home, or 'Paradise.' Aura's only female child to avoid erasure, Zefie, takes pity on two of her half erased sisters (both now insane) and out of mercy kills them.

In G.U. the Net Slum seems more like a full-function root-town: it has a chaos gate, @home (the area for guilds), and shops. The chaos gate in the Net Slum is more functional than the ones in other towns: this chaos gate can bring you to any location (based on any server of the game).

Terms you should Know

Game Masters:

Game Master (GM) is a title used by CC Corp employees, giving them the ability to maintain events and perform administrative duties.

Crimson Knights:

Characters that fight to protect the World from illegal users. However none of them had any real administrative power. All of them work for Subaru. They were all disbanded.

Cobalt Knights:

A team of system administrators who hunt down Vagrant A.I. and delete them. Formed from the remnants of the Crimson Knights, and possessed much more power.

Cerulean Knights:

The Cerulean Knights are a non-canon group of knights that replaced the Cobalt Knights in the Legend of the Twilight anime. Rather than hunting down Vagrant AI, they were created to prevent internet terrorism within The World.

Illegal Character:

A character that has been illegally edited via hacking.

NPC:

Stands for non-playable characters. These are just programs that are used in shops. Most or all of their dialogue is scripted and they perform very limited functions.

Player Killer:

A PK is like a serial killer who for whatever reason purposefully kills other player characters.

Player Killer Killer:

A PKK is a player who hunts down Player Killers for whatever reason and then kills them.

Rare Hunters:

Characters that like collecting rare items. Some may be obsessed with collecting rare items. Some own a special rare room for storing their items because it holds more than the storage in the NPCs. It is dishonorable for them to knowingly accept cheat items.

System Administrator:

Players that are in charge of protecting the world. They delete any hackers, cheaters and wandering A.I. Some are also in charge of setting up events for players to play.

Vagrant / Wandering AI:

Corrupted or illegal programs that have achieved a state of pseudo-existence within The World. They are hunted by system administrators who delete them in their debugging duties. Aura and Zefie are Vagrant AI. A parallel may be drawn between them and Rampant AI. Most of the known Vagrant AI are, unbeknownst to game staff, part of the system itself.

Classes

Basic 6

Blademaster:

A playable character class that uses swords. This class is probably more accurate than others.

Heavy Axe:

A playable character class that uses gigantic axes to deal heavy damage.

Heavy Blade:

A playable character class that uses broadswords and katanas to attack enemies. This class has the highest attack power of all the classes in the The World.

Long Arm:

A playable character class that uses spears and lances, utilizing the range of their weapons in battle.

Twin Blade:

A playable character class that uses identical dual blades. This class has average attack power, and is known for their superior attack speed and travelling speed.

Wavemaster:

A playable character class that uses staves and long-range magic rather than melee attacks. This class has the lowest attack power and players using this class should avoid close combat. They are the only classes that can use Level 4 Summoning Magic.

The World Expansion Pack

Knuckle Master:

A playable character class that uses fists to fight opponents. This class is only mentioned once.

Werewolves:

An upgrade of the Knuckle Master class that comes with the expansion pack for The World, this class also uses fists to fight opponents. Werewolves can transform into wolves at will and have fur so they don't get cold in icy areas. There are many requirements to become a Werewolf. It is also possible that any Knuckle Master who can obtain a certain ultra-rare item can become a Werewolf.

The World R:2

Twin Blade

A Character Class similar to the original Twin Blade in The World, though this Class may utilize two longer edged blades. Twin Blades are speed-oriented and are able to deal quick, successive blows. They have more attack styles than any other class.

Edge Punisher:

A character class that uses two-handed heavy weapons to fight, usually broadswords, similar to a Heavy Blade in The World. Some swords have mechanized "secondary weapons" on them. Their attacks, while powerful, are slow.

Lord Partizan:

A Character Class that utilizes various pole-arm weapons, similar to a Long Arm in The World. They fight like Heavy Axemen, using attacks that are slower than other classes, but can deal the most immediate damage. Lord Partizans have lots of monster-oriented skills including Armor-Piercing and Aerial skills.

Blade Brandier:

A character class that uses a one-handed sword or a dagger to fight. They are swift, agile, accurate, and similar to a Blademaster in The World.

Macabre Dancer:

This unique character class uses a pair of sharp fans as weapons and fights with a fluid dancing motion, they are known in The World R:2 as 'Flowers of the Battlefield'.

Flick Reaper:

A rare Character Class that wields scythes or large axes. The stats of this class are very much like the Long Arms, for the class itself excels in speed and strength, but lessens in defense. They are designed for sweeping attacks, meant to literally "flick" enemies away before they can get within attacking range. Of course, a Steam Gunner or Lord Partizan could get at them easily.

Tribal Grappler:

A Character Class that utilizes their fists, claws, feet and various wrestling-type maneuvers to fight. They are easiest to achieve solo Rengeki Finish attacks with.

Harvest Cleric:

A Character Class that use staffs and specializes in defensive and healing magic instead of direct fighting. Similar to a Wavemaster in The World. This class focuses on support magic.

Shadow Warlock:

Also similar to a Wavemaster, the Shadow Warlock is a Character Class in which the character uses offensive magic, powered by a large spell book, instead of physical attacks to defeat the opponent.

Steam Gunner:

A Character Class that uses a rifle with a sword-like bayonet running the length of it. This class specializes in both long-range and close-quarter fighting.

What? The information is already done?

Other Info

This takes place in 2017. Which means, you cannot have any characters that are over two years old. In 2015 there was a fire that burnt down CC Corporation and all the data within it was lost. So, you cannot have old characters!
