So I was thinking about a lot of the stuff I've been seeing lately with graphics, and I have come to the conclusion that I prefer creativity over sheer power. Case in point, Gamespot recently did a MP 2 vs. 3 comparison, and while the improvements are subtle in many cases, I personally think that Metroid Prime 3 did a lot more creative stuff that made the game look cooler. At the same time, I think we can all agree that the PS2 was pretty weak compared to its later competitors. However, God of War is one of those games that had great graphics, or probably moreso great IDEAS and application.
So here's the short version...do you prefer powerful graphics, or more creativity using whatever you have? Secondly, what games might you cite to support it?

Creativity.
And Rub Rabbits is one. The characters didnt have faces, and yet it's like sex ed on crack.
Graphically, its nice, but its so ******** trippy, it could be stick figures, and still be funny.

The ps2 had some pretty good graphics on its games as well, it wasn't weak whatsoever. You're probably talking about launch titles and such, but hey oh well, that's your deal. Notable mentions of awesome Playstation 2 graphics: -Metal Gear Solid 2 -Metal Gear Solid 3 -Final Fantasies X, X-2, XI, and most definitely, XII -Devil May Cry 3 -Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas -Resident Evil 4 -Others wink

Creativity.
Though developers tend to substitute creativity for powerful graphics and they think that it makes up for it. We need a balance of both but unfortunately that isn't always the case. On the other side of it, creativity is a good substitute for ultra superior graphics that are so good it hurts your eyes. xp

Arvis_Jaggamar Um, both? Can't I have both?
You Can, But if you couldn't, like America worked they way.
Either one or the other.
You take the Blue Pill, and you go back to looking at "so so" graphics and "so so" creativity.
You take th Red Pill, I'll show you the true meaning of HD.
You take the Green Pill, and Awesomesause won't describe the creativity.
You take the Black Pill, and welcome to the Matrix.

Creativity fo sho.
I mean, can you see playing Wii Sports with the most ubar graphics in the world, but in the end all you have to do is press A to swing the tennis racket?
Hooray I get a gabillion skill level for pressing A. Whoop dee doo.
It's really the reason I choose the Wii over the others. Its control scheme allows for a lot of creativity in gameplay. Granted, graphics are important, I prefer a game with good-looking graphics than sucky ones. But creativity in gameplay is far mroe important.

If I had to choose, creativity. I'd still like to see the game push whatever hardware it's on, though. Lazyness is a no-no.
Metroid Prime 3 is a good example of what I just described.

Wii is by NO means bad, but much weaker than 360. Ps2 was great compared to PS1 and N64, but weaker compared to Xbox and Gamecube. This is not so much for graphics vs. what you do as it is show examples. I assume that most people assume great artwork, and would like to hear examples of games with great concept art brought to life. Star Wars: Republic Commando had a lot of greast ideas planted within the Star Wars universe.

Yeah, but from what I've seen MySims is your basic point&click.
