Whee, new members! Welcome, welcome, welcome! I'm so not on a sugar high. Really. I haven't eaten in like... three hours. Anyway, I'm Anthrax, also known as Felina or Fel.
As for animes... Haibane Renmei, X//1999, Witch Hunter Robin, Innocent Venus, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Hoshi no Koe... must I continue? Those are the best ones, since they were the first I thought of. Oh, and Pale Cocoon!

Hellsing ultimate if you like violence and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya if you don't.
For manga then i would say Reiko the zombie shop for violent with a story and Godchild for not so violent(still little violent)
