So how many of you out there are also on the geekish side and play video/computer games?
Any games you're currently playing right now that you love? And games you'd recommend playing?
Cmon tell us!
ATM I'm playing an older RPG game I found out about (thanks to an ad in a gaming mag for it's latest, soon to be released, limited time only, only one run then it's gone edition). It's called Growlanser Generations. Wonderful game which is actually two games for the price of one, as the case contains both Growlanser II and Growlanser III.
Two good RPG's really that have a connection between the two stories, the latter being a prelude to the other. II has a superior combat system and is fun to play, while III has a superior story which is actually really well done! The character voices sometimes make you wanna pinch yourself, but those times are very few and the majority I found were well done and fun to listen to! From II, for example, Hans at first became a guy I hated. I met him, didn like his voice, wanted to kick his arse if I could. Then he surprised me by having some really funny lines and doing really hilarious things! ("Giving blood is a duty! Here,lemmehelp! *stabs enemy*").
Another part of the games which I REALLY love, is the relationship system. Depending on choices you make, you either distance yourself from certain party members or get closer to them. The game has multiple endings due to who you eventually work toward having a real relationship with. If you've played Star Ocean or similar games with the relationship system, you know what I'm talking about. Choosing which girl you hook up with in the end is always more fun than "OK here is the girl, she's the love of your life, no you can't have that hotter looking girl or gentler girl or girl who actually has been through the same experiences as you have".
I'd recommend buying it ^_^
Other games I'd recommend without going into detail about them atm:
Pikmin, if you haven't played the first of this you're missing out on a gorgeous and absolutely fun game;
Star Ocean 2 or 3, really fun game which got me into the whole Relationship System that few games have. I'm still lookin for more and have my eye on Persona 3 eventually;
Dawn of War Gold Edition + Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, one of the best RTS games I have ever had the joy of playing. Beats Warcraft out by a mile and a half with all the small details they put in, such as your units commenting on their distaste of the enemy when they first encounter them or watching a couple of your shoulders freak out and jus start laughing psychotically for no other reason (must be playing Chaos though to see that last part, as every race has their own unit animatons, sounds, etc);
Fable, truly a fun game that brings out the Good and Evil system at its finest imo, where you can mold your hero based on the choices you make in the story. Will you be a galliant savior and save the world? Or will you be a dark overlord and destroy it? And with Fable 2 on the way and looking to improve 200% on the original, I'd say now would be a great time to get it!;
Wii Sports, you get it for free- for FREE, with the Wii. What's not to like!? And it comes with 6 different and incredibly fun to play games. And anyone and everyone can play it, whether they're 5 or 85. biggrin

I was holding off on making this thread, but seeing as how ya beat me to it, I guess there's nothing left to do, but post.
Currently, I am hooked on Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's basically Clash of Ninja 4, only from Japan. Also, waiting for Brawl to come out, I've gotten back in the hang of playing SSBM (Super Smash Bros. Melle) again. Trauma Center: Second Opinion (For the Wii (FTW)) is another good game I'm hooked on, right now. However, level 6-5, or 6-6 (the one with the Pempti) is very difficult, and is making me mad. If that's not enough, I'm taking this thread old skool.
I'm still hooked on N64 and Sega Genesis, as well. All sonic games, and Super Smash Bros. (for the 64) are still among my favorites.
I mostly love puzzle games, which is why I play Pokemon Puzzle League.
If you like fighting games, I recommend SSBM and GNT:4... If you don't like importing, or don't know how, then I suggest sticking with Clash of Ninja 2 for the time being, until Revolutions comes out or the Wii.
If you like puzzle games, and have an N64 or Genesis, then PPL and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine are the choices for you.

I kind of stopped playing video games, I used to be obessed with them! I keep telling myself I really need to pick it back up.
I love retro games.
Some of my fave video games/series are:
Katamari
Super Mario
Super Smash Bros
Legend Of Zelda (Occarina of Time is the best game ever!)
Halo
Kirby
Grand Theft Auto
Parappa the Rapper.
All kinds!
I don't have any next gen systems though...
A PSP is the newest thing I have, lol!

im the poor b*****d that is hooked into WoW... crying
World of Warcraft...for those not in the know... xd
But, i have been enjoying Bioshock and F.E.A.R on the side. And i cant wait for unreal tourny 3..../drool. Im big into FPS'. Oh god...can't forget about half-life episode 2...with team fortress 2(finally!!!) and that zombie one...left for dead..i think...?
On the consol side...i nearly bought a Wii today, but, im gonna wait a bit longer, because i'm mainly waiting on Super Smash Bros Brawl. NiGHTS looks good too, im really happy they are finally making a sequel to such a great game. As for Xbox 360...im lookin foreward to Assassins Creed, and Halo 3 should be a fantastic romp. I loved Gear of War...and Geometry Wars...hahaha...i could play that game for hours.
That about does it...this list is really just recent games...it could go on for pages and pages if i listed anything older. razz
P.S. PS3 can suck a *insert explicit phrase here* domokun
600 dollars....grumble...grumble...

Hey Gamer. I loved PPL. but, go back alittle further and you will find yourself faced with Tetris Attack on the SNES. PPL took its gameplay from that.
Tetris Attack is an amazing game. Just as good as PPL (but Yoshi based) and, i felt, alittle harder.

It'd be best to buy a Wii before you wait for Brawl, or they'll be harder to find.
On a side note, I beg to differ. I'm throwing this out there, though. What started the PPL rave, was a game called Puzzle League. I found this out at Sears... They were selling games, and one of the game boy games was Dr. Mario with Puzzle League mixed in (basically, a 2 in 1). Now, it was only a guess, and what implied this even more, was the fact that in PPL, you could choose between energy symboled blocks, or shape symboled. In Puzzle League, The blocks were the shapes that were used in PPL. On top of that, there was a game long ago, called Yoshi's Cookie. God, I played that game ALL THE TIME!! Sadly, I don't have it anymore, and I forgot all about it crying

ohh, i loved yoshi's cookie!! And, hahaha, now that you mention it...i bought a Wii today razz
sadly, nintendo once again didn't add some kind of digital sound and the dang component cables are way to short to reach from the back of my tv to the top of my reciever...oh the agony. Legend of Zelda without sound is...interesting to say the least xd

w00t! Wii FTW! Congrats on getting it. I, personally, am an outcast to those who like all the good games. I don't like to be like everyone else, and get a game that everyone wants. Sure, I might get them, but others, I'll just leave them alone, like Twilight Princess. I want to play it, because it's Zelda, but not if pretty much everyone else has it, because then conversations get boring.

I'm probably the biggest girl gamer you'll find up here. It's always been my dad's and my thing to do together. Now that I'm getting older I can kick his butt and he won't play with me anymore though XD
As much as I'm ashamed to admit it... I'm a Final Fantasy. X and XII though. VII was okay... (don't shoot me -ducks-) But I still prefer XII. Twelve isn't centered around a cheesy story line. It's cool with Airships and political corruption and whatnot. The ONLY reason I like X is for the amazing graphics. The story sucked. -nod-
My favorite game at the Moment is Bioshock for the Xbox 360. It's somewhat like Fable in the sense that you get to choose the main characters outcome by the way you handle the little sisters. I like it mostly because of how creepy it is. There's lots of gore and lots of Zombie-esque things that come and attack you at any given moment. Corpses wake up and try to kill you all the time and it's just REALLY neat. There are many crazy people that are stuck in Rapture (conveniently dying just as you're about to get the vital information from them that you need to solve the puzzle) It's the best game I've played in a while.
I'm a nerd for cute games like Harvest moon and Pikmin. My absolute favorite nerdy game is Animal Crossing. You don't realize HOW addictive it is until you've spent 50 dollars on extra cartridges and made yourself 6 towns to travel around to. Addictive. As. Hell.
The Zelda franchise. -sighs nostalgically- I do love it so. It's another one of those things you just CANNOT put down. LOVE it.
Vintage games are PWN. I spend ALL of my Wii points on vintage games cause I'm THAT much of a nerd.
I'll talk more later...
I'm tired and I'm too lazy to talk about all of the damned games I've played.
