jestingrabbit Morberticus I now hold a first class double honours degree in theoretical and experimental physics. I did it. *cries* My honors year was pretty much the hardest of my life. Well done!! You deserve to be proud of yourself. It was certainly rough. Relationships and friendships withered and fell by the wayside. Hopefully I can repair some of the friendships. And I missed one of my friend's 21st, and now she's off in the cadets. I will say I'm glad to be on the other side.

Aetherius Lamia Cool ... what does that mean, though? First class honours is the highest class you can for a degree in the UK, and I assume it is is the same for Ireland [I have the same. XD]. Joint honours means that rather than study in one set degree stream.

*high five w000!* Yeah it's the same in Ireland: 1st class = highest class. It was strange, as departments didn't necessarily see eye to eye. I was known as 'the experimentalist' to the math heads and I can only hope it was an endearing term. But meh I don't care now. Both departments gave me a 1st so yay!

A Lost Iguana Joint honours means that rather than study in one set degree stream. … you study in two. You see, in the UK/Irish system you choose your major before you attend and there are set streams you follow. I took a plain ol' single honour physics degree but there were others like theoretical physics, astrophysics, physics with space science and medical physics. Or you can take joint honours where take a mix of classes from separate streams.

In NZ honours is the first level of post graduate studies (then masters, then PhD) I thought that is what you meant.
Anyway, congrats.
