Last year, I was watching A:TLA like crazy, and I owned the Season 1 box set. Since I loved it so much, I began wondering: "I love writing, and I love this show. What if I was to write a 'novel' on it?" It made sense, since the story was broken up with Seasons=Books and episodes=chapters. Plus, it would be really fun. wink
So I had started writing it in a thick notebook last year (or was it early this year? dunno.) but I stopped. But today I started writing a bit more, since my interest has come back after hearing of season 3 coming out this month.
Okay, so there's nothing posted here. However, later -- if I get the chance -- I may type up what I've written a couple pages at a time. I always write with pencil on paper, so anything I write would have to be re-typed.
But, yeah, just wanted to tell you guys what I was doing, and that you might see part of the writing here.
Also, if it was published into a book, with each season being an individual volume, they'd be thick books! Plus, I'm a good writer, so I'd prove that books written on kid's shows can be read by people of all ages. (Well, then again, the creators of Avatar made it so all ages would enjoy it.)
So far, I had written up to episode 2 right after Aang got taken into the ship by Zuko and the village is recovering. It's not far into the story, but it is a lot of pages -- 52! Chapter 1 alone is 39! (Yes, and I did write it on both sides of the page with paragraphs and all that. sweatdrop )

I guess I'd also want to hear what you guys would think of an Avatar novel, if one was published. (Would be great if it was written by me! I've never finished anything, but getting published is one of my life's dreams, whether its a book or comic.)

((Oh, man, The Southern Air Temple and the Siege of the North Pt. 1 and 2 would be so frickin' awesome. . . heart ))

No comments yet, huh? I guess people aren't visiting the fanfictions subforum anymore. . . cry
Well, just in case anyone does click on this, I'll add an update: I am now in Chapter 3: The Southern Air Temple and *gasp* I'm having WAY too much fun writing the stuff with Zhao and Zuko, even though I've only written their first encounter so far. Zhao's description was so fun. . ! Here's an excerpt, for your enjoyment: "The man approaching them was the emodiment of sheer authority and iron-willed determination." God, I loved that sentence. . . sweatdrop I also love how I've described Aang and Zhao's eyes: At one point I describe the color of Aang's eyes as "storm cloud-gray", which is nice since all his troubles started with the storm. And then Zhao's, I called in his first appearance: "copper-brown" and having "a cold gaze which could unnerve the lowest of recruits with a single glance." It's also fun to elaborate on details not spoken in the show, as well as making up details on your own. When Katara first sees the southern air temple, I described it as: "She felt breathless upon seeing it, or perhaps it was just the side-affects of the high altitude." I also elaborate on Zhao's suspicion upon hearing Zuko and Iroh's excuse on how their ship was damaged, and added a bit that Zuko was finding something very fishy about Zhao's behavior, as if he just had the sensation that Zhao suspected other wise.

So. . .That's just about all I thought of saying right now. I hope that this rant of mine has gotten you guys wanting to read my "novel" so far, but if it has, you'll have to wait a while. . .I'm not much for typing up hand-written work, but I know I should someday with this story.

Comments?

Aw, why don't you start typing it? I love reading long, epic novels. They're usually the best books, in my opinion. I, too, am working on a fanfiction on A:TLA; it's called She Caught Fire. It's in this subforum, if you want to check it out. I love the way you write your sentences, too. You and I share a common interest, and that is messing with words. They're so fun!

Well, if your novel gets published into a book, I wouldn't mind buying it. Good luck!
