It had been a long time since Kal had last been in that field. He was a bit older, now settled more comfortably into his adult size instead of feeling as though he always had something to prove. But as was the way with good things, the self-assurance associated with greater age had come with a price. He had forgotten one of the lessons he had learned in that field awhile ago.

Thankfully lessons learned earlier were easily remembered, which is why the little stallion found himself devouring his way through a patch of mild flavoured clover with much more grace and composure than the first time.

Stretching her wings out she signed and grinned. It was going to be a lovely day and she was going to make the most out of it. Mother was off being silly with Father, her sisters were god knows where and she was free to wander about wherever she wanted. And where she wanted was in her clover patch.

Unfortunately there was someone there and she huffed as she stalked up behind them. "You again! And eating all my breakfast."

Kal hadn't heard Van approach over his own loud and thorough munching, but the familiar voice so close behind him made him jump and whirl around. "Van! You shouldn't sneak up on people like that." He frowned for a minute, waiting for his heart to stop racing. He ignored her comment about her breakfast, it would indeed have been hers if she had been in the field not five minutes earlier.

"And you shouldn't be eating other people's breakfast." She grinned at him before surveying the horror of her clover patch. "Now i have to go find something else."

It wouldn't be any fun. She'd been looking forward to enjoying that clover and he'd gone and ruined it.

Kal was almost inclined to be irritated, since he still had a lingering bad taste in his mouth and he wasn't so thrilled to have been startled so badly, but for some inexplicable reason he started to feel a little bad about it. "There's still some clover left, I didn't eat all of it," he said, nosing down at one of the remaining clusters. It probably wasn't enough for a full breakfast, but Van technically couldn't say he had eaten all of it.

"Yes cause that's so breakfast" She scrunched her nose before tapping it with a wing. She'd have to figure out where else she could get breakfast from since he'd ruined this one.

"Spooks should know better." She waggled at wing at him before turning to look across the landscape. There were apple trees somewhere over there.

"If you're not going to eat it, I'll gladly finish it for you. Us spooks are good at cleaning up after ourselves." He rolled his eyes a bit. It seemed like Van hadn't changed at all since their last meeting. Except...

Kal lost a bit of his composure as he realized Van had actually grown to the same size as he was. He could only hope she didn't notice, since she would surely tease him about being small for a stallion. Or worse, small for a spook.

Flicking a curl out of her face she turned to huff at him. "You're not even sorry! How dreadful." She shook a wing at him again before she grinned. "Silly little spook shouldn't eat everyone else's breakfast. You should have to fine me a new breakfast for that."

She'd noticed she was the same size as him and that meant that she was either as big as she was going to get, or that he was just small.

It took all his strength not to fluff up as she referred to him as 'little'. The reaction wasn't nearly as automatic as it had been when he was just a little younger, but this time he still had to work hard to suppress it.

The small stallion waved his own wing in a dismissive gesture. "I will then. Just give me a second." He dropped his head to take another couple mouthfuls of clover, and then glanced over at Van. "Come on, I'll show you a good spot." Without waiting to see if she was following, he started heading towards the edge of the field and into the forest.

That was better than she'd expected. She'd though he'd tell her to go find her own food again and not actually show her where some was. She knew where it was anyway but that wasn't the point.

She followed after him humming to herself as she fluffed her wings out. "So .... you're jut just taking me somewhere so you can run off and get out of your duty hum?"

"What duty? I'm just showing you where some good flowers are since it's only fair." He seemed inclined to play along with her banter, since he was the one leading after all. He glanced back over his shoulder as he trotted through the woods and smiled. "If I didn't want to show you, I wouldn't even have to run off. I'd have just told you to wake up earlier next time so I didn't beat you to your breakfast."

It was only a short time before he stopped in a small clearing. Off to one side a comparably large patch of clover was growing alongside some wildflowers that wouldn't be nearly as tasty, even if they did give the clearing a very pleasant look.
