Laying with his shoulders and torso in the shade under a tree, Touda sunned his tail. Wings relaxed to his sides, and head resting on his folded arms, he half-dozed while enjoying the peaceful day. His visor off and resting beside his head, he stares through slitted eyes at a small bug resting on a nearby flower.

Iunius hurried across the grass, her many textbooks held tightly to her chest. It was just too noisy inside of that house; she had to go somewhere quiet where she could study.

Feeling the vibrations of nearby footsteps across his stomach, Touda 'sat' up, grabbing his visor on the way. Coiling his tail up, to make it less likely for an oblivious wayward to step on or trip over it, he replaced the object over his eyes as many found his uncovered gaze distressing.

Muttering about the laziness of others, she would have strode right past the creature under the tree if she hadn't noticed his movements in her peripheral vision. Turning to look at him, she was startled by his appearance. "Oh!" she exclaimed, dropping her books.

Touda watched the small fox scurry past in amusement, wondering what her mind must be focused on to miss a monster like him appearing out of the glass beside her. Smirking at her when she finally noticed his presence, he watched the books tumble out of her arms.
Slithering forward, his scales rustling the grass on either side of him, he lowered his torso and scooped the books up - careful not to damage them with his claws, and offered them back to her with a quiet, "You should try not to mistreat books like that. Dirt in the pages makes them hard to read."

Taking them hesitantly, avoiding touching his sharp looking claws, she nodded, flushed. "Yes, I know."

Not hurt by her wary caution, Touda pulled himself back so he was for all intents and purposes, sitting on his own coils to give her some room. Hesitant to speak again, he decides to try continue speaking to the kit anyway, as she hasn't actually run screaming in fear yet like the past several have. "...It isn't common for a young one to enjoy books, yet yours look well cared for. Do you enjoy reading?"

Clinging to them, she nodded, watching him with wide eyes. "I do. Immensely."

Absently wondering how many months the kit would be haunted by nightmares of him, Touda figured he should stop tormenting the poor thing. Straightening up, he purposely turned to show he was leaving, so as not to startle her even more. Pausing, he commented over his shoulder, "Knowledge is the one thing that can never be taken away. Things can be broken and stolen, but what you know is yours."

Again she nodded, watching him go. Then after what appeared to be a very heated internal struggle, she trotted after him. "Sir? Can I ask you a question?"

He froze when addressed by the little fox, not having expected that anyone would willingly chose to have anything to do with him. Turning back to look toward her, he settled unthreateningly back down onto his coils and nodded, "If you would like to."

Her cheeks burning, she kept her books held tight, subconsciously a barrier between her and the snake...thing. "Sir, if I may be so bold, what exactly are you?"

With a startled blink (safely hidden behind the visor he wore), he chuckled softly, shaking his head. "I can't answer what I don't know. I was dropped off at a different pound years ago, and was shuffled back and forth for years. Some say snake, others say bat, some say a hybrid, some say a demon."

Her flush started to fade away, and she looked intrigued. "Whatever you are, it's very interesting." Her curiosity overpowering her initial fear, she moved closer to the strange creature, examining him.

As the kit approached, Touda went completely still, barely even breathing. Wonders at her fading fear of him, not having found one yet that didn't fear him for some reason or another. Already the kit is closer to him then almost anyone has been since he was old enough to be deemed "self sufficient" by the pound's staff.
Faintly amused by the entire situation, he calmly voiced a request, "Should you figure out what I happen to be, please do let me know. I'm quite curious."
