Thomas stood over the front desk of the magic laboratory, rubbing at his eyes with a heavy, drawn out sigh. Five private lessons to run. It was part of the job requirement and he couldn’t rightly say he was incapable of doing them. He was obviously tired, fresh out of the hospital. He had a few things set up to use as props for the lesson. A small set of weights, a large ‘hamster wheel’, and a pile of rocks.
Valens…He glanced over to the boy’s record and seated himself on the top of his desk to look over the file. Not the smartest lad…he almost seemed delighted to have his intelligent insulted.

Valens clip-clopped into the classroom with Ellie right beside him, the Silver releasing her hold on his shirt when they were inside the classroom. The horse's eyes filled with delight as he looked over the strange items that were sitting in the room and he wondered idly what they were going to be doing today. He wondered if it would be like the class where the red headed guy had him move that heavy box?
He walked over to look over the different things finding the most interest in the hampster wheel. He turned then to over at the teacher, "Hello there Mr. Barkhelm, are you feeling any better today?" He asked, sounding hopeful. He was glad to see the teacher back up and on his feet again.
Ellie was quiet, giving a polite bow to the magic teacher before she sat down and watched her boy. He really should sit down and prepare for the class but at the moment she didn't have the right words to tell him that. Surely the teacher would send him to his desk soon enough though so for now she would leave him to examining the differnt items.

Thomas glanced up shortly as the boy entered, slowly setting the folder down that he'd been skimming over. He looked well enough. One might not even guess that he'd been in the hospital not too long ago. "Quite." Was his only response to the boy's inquiry.
He lifted a hand and kind of moved it to one side. The door slammed itself behind Valens and bolted shut. If the boy glanced back over to the teacher he'd feel something 'click' in the back of his mind. He'd suddenly know that his mind was open once more for the teacher to see.
"We didn't get to go over anything I had hoped to in your class room, so this might take a bit longer than expected. I hope you came prepared."

Valens gave a smile, that was good to hear he'd been a little bit worried after the teacher's collapse. He gave a bit of a jump at the sound of the door slamming close, shifted in place while he worked on getting his flight reaction under control. The one bad part about being a horse, that desire to bolt when something scared him...
He gave a sighing sound as he got himself relaxed and looked at the tacher, "Prepared? Oh! Yeah I have my notebook and pen." He said, sounding quite proud of himself before he moved to sit down. At least he hoped that was what the man meant by being prepared... could be about a million other things as well. He lifted a hand to scratch against the back of his head as he felt that strange feeling in his mind again before he moved to dig the things out of his bag in case he needed to take some notes.
Ellie looked back at the door strangely realizing it had closed and locked itself before she laid down next to it to stay out of the way of the class. She would let them go about their learning and just observe.

“Very good.” Thomas nodded and moved to the board, “You were chosen as a body-type magic-user. It’s perhaps the most basic of the magics but not at all the most easy to control. It requires a good deal of focus and energy to activate it but as with anything, the more you use it, the more you work at it, the easier it will become and the more like a second nature it will be. Think of it like learning to walk again. In order to enhance your physical ability you must learn to focus on individual points in your body to enhance what they are already capable of. This is largely due to a chemical called adrenaline.”
He wrote the word out on the board, “This art is forcing your body to create more adrenaline and focusing it into specific areas of your body in order to increase performance. For instance, if you want to lift this desk here, you’d focus on giving strength to your arms first, then as the desk lifts you’ll need to redirect it into your shoulders, then down into your back and legs. Again into your arms if you were to throw it.”
He paused, “Do you understand?”

Valens wrote down what he could catch, getting what sounded like the vital parts instead of word for word as he was yet to do that well at taking notes. He found himself smiling a bit as he listened, tail swishing behind him. So he would get to use body magic to make himself even stronger? How very awesome! He wondered if he would be able to lift Ellie with such strength.
"I think so... how do you force your body to create more stuff like that?" He asked, doing something as simple as lifting the desk would be easy for him, he doubted he would really have to try that hard. To force his body to make more of the adrenaline stuff sounded odd to him though.

"Stimulants." Thomas said simply. "Our bodies react to given situations. For instance, if you were to find yourself trapped under a rock you'll somehow find the strength to pull free, if you're running from danger, you'll find a second wind. That sort of thing." He waved his hand dismissively. "The foundation of those stimulants is a situation that drives you to -want- to perform in such a way. Every form of magic, while unique to itself, is fueled by the power of the caster's willpower. Controlling that, harnessing that, and effectively using that are the keys to any form of spellcasting. Do you understand?"

Valens gave a nodding of his head, "Yes! I had another class where I had to move a reeeeally heavy crate. It was to work on something similar... the stimulants." He said thoughtfully. It all made sense to him because he was able to piece it together from passed experiences. He really wanted to move the crate to get the prize that was hidden under it so his body had drawn on the same stuff that the teacher was talking about.
The horse's tail was swishing in a happy manner, he wasn't normally the sharpest tool in the shed so when he was able to keep up it made him quite happy.

"Before we begin I do have to inform you that using these stimulants is quite taxing on the body. Like any form of magic, it's a temperary thing. Short boosts to natural abilities is what you specialize in. If you push yourself too hard you will faint and you will wake up very sore." He eyed the boy sharply, "Don't think you have to complete great things right off. Like everything, it will take discipline, time, and practice."

Valens's ears turns forward, then back as he thought on that. Fainting would be a bit embarrassing... but it wasn't as if he should worry to hard over the possibility since the teacher had done that once during class. He gave a smile, "Alright. I will try to be careful." He put in 'try' since he was quite new at the magic thing and really didn't know where his limits were at the moment. He would learn them soon enough he was sure.

Thomas was less than pleased with the boy's train of thought. He'd passed out for completely different reasons. The boy could never understand the atrocities he'd seen within the raven boy's eyes. The darkness...
"Very well...", Thomas continued slowly. "Now that you know the basics we'll begin by having you close your eyes. Focus. Find your center. Concentrate on your heart, where the blood flows. Focus on your hand, your foot, anything. Focus on feeling the blood move from your heart to that area of your body."

Valens did as he was told, letting his eyes close as he focused first on his heart. He couldn't help but giggle at the idea of focusing next one his foot... though it would make kicking things a lot more interesting. Maybe he could kick a ball over the D-Corp building? A strange thought that he shoved aside then set to focusing on his hand. Easier then his foot since it wouldn't end up with his mind wandering.
As he concentrated he started to tap his fingers against the desk rhythmically.

Thomas brought his cane around to smack Valens' fingers, "None of that! No distractions..."
Idiot child… this wasn’t a fun game nor was it arts and crafts. If he got it wrong he could end up sending the energy to the wrong area, or just one foot. There was a very high chance of them getting hurt. Body-type students especially.
“Stand up. Focus on your feet. One at a time, once you can feel the flow between your heart and your feet we’ll continue.”

Valens gave a jump and a wince at the smack to his fingers, losing track of what he'd been doing to look up at the teacher a bit of a hurt expression on his face. He then pushed up to his feet and went back to focusing. Focusing on his feet, heart to feet, heart to feet he thought to himself, trying to keep from getting distracted again so as not to get another smack from the cane.
His ears flicked back and forth then finally turned forward when he was able to feel the flow from his heart to his feet that he was searching out, "Alright, ready." He said to the teacher.

Valens would notice there was no sound, no smell, and no sight if he opened his eyes- which he shoudln't do anyway without Thomas' permission as far as the teacher was concerned. "Focus on that feeling. Nothing in the world exists but that feeling. Now lift the desk, concentrate on what it requires to lift that desk. Control the flow, move it first to your hands and wrists, then into your arms and elbows, into your shoulders, then into your back and legs. You have to concentrate on that flow, move it beween these points to accomplish this one task."
