Relaxing. A nice relaxing adventure to the waterfall? Oooh, or the beach perhaps? Selene was quiet, pondering the merits of a day with no plans whatsoever. Wandering here? Wandering there? Any which way, really. The sun was out, but the sky looked to be forming dark gray clouds. Rain meant the beach would be a very bad idea. Wet sand turned into a mix that turned her hair into a beaver dam of twigs and sand and... ugh.
The waterfall it was.
She broke into a trot, humming lightly before taking to the air with a graceful little leap.

Stretching out his wings, Safi stood perched on the rock ledge at the top of the falls, looking out over the deep pool and clearing below. It was funny, really; no matter how many times he came here, how often or how rarely, it always made him smile to see this place anew. It was just so...homey. His secret place, his and Selly's.
Selly...he really ought to see if he could find her again one of these days. Whether it was bad luck or bad timing, the last few times he'd been this way the teepee had been dead. Which was strange, considering how many Soquilis Selene supposedly lived with.
Oh well; he himself roved enough to know that sometimes people were just not around. He was confident he'd find up with her sooner or later.

Bright white standing near the falls caught her eye first, and the blue mare strained to see who it was. Tealy-green underbelly, instinct rising to pick and tease... "SAFI!" she yelled the stallions name and let herself fall faster than was particularly wise, landing with a thump-and-stumble that should have looked horribly graceless. However, Selene, having been never been one for landing when the decision had been made to get out of the air, managed to turn the thump-and-stumble into an artful 'falling' so that she landed almost touching the stallion. And looked like she'd meant to do it, too. "Safi!" she repeated his name, body almost shaking with happiness at seeing her friend again.
She quickly composed herself, giving him a look out of the corner of one golden eye. "What are you doing in my secret spot, birdbrain?" she snipped, leaning in towards him to n** gently at his wings, straightening some of the feathers there.

..."Think of the lady and there she is!" beaming, Safi crossed the short space to the mare, ignoring her question and merely scooping her up in a hug, squeezed tight against him and burying his muzzle in her mane. "I am so happy to see you, Selly! Honestly, you've been migrating around so much that I was beginning to think you'd moved or something and I was going to have to start scouring the earth to find you!"
Laughing, he let her down, satisfied that it was really her and she was actually here. "And what do you mean YOUR spot? I was here too before, remember? I'm the one who found the cave! Or have you gotten so senile you've forgotten?"

She giggled, rubbing her nose against his mane affectionately. "I've missed you, old man." she murmured, giving him a warm smile. "And your cave-finding was merely a service to me." Selene sniffed, tossing her head and looking important. "Who is senile now?" she teased, leaning up to n** at his ear. Her head dropped to his shoulder and she sighed. "It's nice to see you again."

"Pft. You know as well as I do that there were joint ownership rights involved in finding that cave, you just want to keep it all to yourself! And here I thought that we were friends..." Adding in a long-suffering sigh for good measure, Safi then killed the spirit of the whine by giving Selene a grin, the honest affection for the mare shining out of his eyes. "Same here, Selly. How long has it been, anyway?"
If nothing else made him feel old, THAT did. "You're looking great these days, Selly; hard to believe we're old enough to be grandparents, isn't it?"

She froze, with a horrified face. All compliments and friendly thoughts flying away as soon as he said the words... The dreadful words... "Maybe you're old enough to be a grandfather." she snarled at him, ears pinned back flat against her head. "I'm still a youthful flower! In my prime! YOUTHFUL." Small details if he was only a few months older than she herself was... and if her daughter was old enough, really, to be a grandmother... Golden eyes blinked as she fought back horrified thoughts.
"It's, uh, been a few months. I haven't seen you since Kileyo and Saiena were still foals! How are they doing lately?" She wrinkled up her nose, sniffing, trying to calm herself after her somewhat... vehement... reaction to being called old.

Oh dear, had he said a bad word?
Of course he had, and he'd known that even while he was saying it. Selene's aversion to being old or associated with age in any way was well-known to Safi, which was exactly why he couldn't resist bringing it up. "Well, you can be a youthful grandmother then, Selly, because your kids are a lot older than mine and mine are old enough to be giving me grandkids, something I honestly wish they'd start doing. And other than that, they're fine..."
However, Safi's lips twitched slightly at Selene's blithe assessment of the time that had passed; it had been a LOT more than a couple months that had passed since the one time she'd seen his kids. But he'd let that fact slide, at least. "Fine, as is to be expected from my kids. They're out on their own, exploring the world...but on that note, I have exciting news!"

She scowled at the white and teal stallion. "You want grandkids already? Impatient, aren't you?" she leaned against him heavily. "But I am glad to hear they're doing okay. What's your exciting news?" her lips twitched as she relaxed, enjoying the simple contact with the one soquili she would term her 'best friend'. She didn't get close to many, not truly; but she'd run the full gambit of emotions already on Safi, and... really enjoyed his company. She gave a happy sigh, grinning up at him. "It better be reeeaaaal good news."
