All right people, we know it...we are all obsessed...But we all have to wonder, is it REALLY true? Were Matt and Mello just simply meant to be? Were Matt and Mello REALLY involved in a relationship in the actual series?
I THINK SO!!! XD
I have evidence too (though you guys probably don't need it...but it certainly does help when you are surrounded by non-believers XD).

Okay, on page 127 in the 9th book of Death Note, it shows Hal lathering herself with soap, clearly trying to get Mello interested in her. She even gets undressed right in front of him and even dries herself off in front of him, but Mello doesn't even bat an eyelash. One page later, it shows Mello's gun pointed towards her head as he demands that she take him somewhere else (specifically to Near to get information from him). At this point, a friend and I are convinced that Matt is in the car outide, sleeping with a sticky note stuck to his head reading: " Matt, went to go talk to Hal. Be back in a minute. <3 Mello" But this is just a hunch....Anyway, later in the series (specifically on pg 9 of the 12th book) Mello tells Takada to remove all of her clothing, so as to be sure that she wasn't hiding anything on her (what a great job he did...>>"). The entire time, he shows absolutely no interest in the fact that there is a very good-looking naked lady in front of him, showing no emotion whatsoever. This shows that Mello clearly does not care much for women to begin with.
However, the minute Matt compliments Misa on page 79 in the 10th book, Mello suddenly gets a pissed off face and says "Are you serious, Matt?"

Later on in the 10th book(pg 109) Mello calls Matt to see how he is doing. Matt complains about his job being boring and Mello tries to sympathize with him by saying "Come on, I'm doing the same thing here...", And as soon as Matt says "At least you get to eavesdrop on a cute girl." Mello has no comment after that and in fact looks a bit peeved....

And on page 155 in the same book, Matt screws up and lets Mogi and Misa out of his sight. Mello calls him up and tells him this and Matt freaks out. Usually Mello is the no-nonsense type and most likely would have called him a bad word and left him there and rendered him useless. However, since it was Matt and not any of his little Mafia lackies, he simply lets it slide and instead tells Matt to follow him to Japan after looking slightly peeved.

And finally, on the fateful page 9 of the 12th book, Mello witnesses Matt's death over the television and formally apologizes to Matt, saying "Matt...I never thought you'd be killed...Forgive me..." Despite his clearly ruthless personality, Mello finds it in him that he obviously has a soft spot for Matt. If it had been anyone else, he probably would have reacted the same way as he did when Miller was killed by the notebook on page 73 in book 8, and also when all the other mafia members died. Despite his lack of emotion when death is presented to him, Mello seemed moved by Matt's death, even if it was a little bit.

All these pieces of evidence point to fact that Matt and Mello and Matt could have been close, even lover close.
So ya....XD if you guys have any more things that might point to that hunch , please let me know!!!

100% agreeing on this one cuz I always express my love for my friends [all huggy and stuff] but 100% loyalty is well... pretty loving I'd say... and I know who I'd do that for too... and there's only one person who will get that much out of me.
