During Rosh Hashonna service, it occured to me that we all want to have a meeting.

Anyone want to go on a camping trip? Like on a 3 day weekend, go to a state park or forest and pitch a few tents, set up a field kitchen and have a good ole fashion sabbath out in the wild of nature?

BTW, anyone who sings or attepts to sing Kol Ha`Olam Kulo around the campfire, will be hit over the head with a cast iron skillet. No hippy folk songs! That's my only request. That and we sing sea shanties and naughty limericks instead.

Just wanted to get that out there.

That sounds so great. I haven't been camping in so long! Where are you thinking of making this trip? What area of the world/country/town?

I'm going to learn to play guitar just so I can torture Neuf with hippy songs.

FEAR ME.

xd Sounds cool to me, but where would we go? There actually are quite a few parks and stuff here, but I'll be honest- Missouri isn't known for its great mountains or anything...

I will join! I love being a hippy! *High fives*

Hey, WE HAVE MOUNTAINS! Lots of them too. There's Mount Nebo, Mount Magazine, Mount Petit Jean....They are all really great and a lot of fun. Of course most of you folks live across the country, so we should probably stick to the midwest/east coast.

State parks are relativly cheap and easy to get to, all things considered.

I wouldn't mind a place with a mountain or a couple nature trails.

I guess the question is... who's gonna be Camp Kitchen Cook. That would decide where we should have this.

As it's far easier to get on a plane with a sleeping bag, a tent, and a few changes of clothes, maybe a canteen and a flashlight. Then... 50 pounds of food, a cook stove, several pots and pans... etc. etc..

If I can get the time off work, and if I can manage the travel in terms of finances, I'd be willing to cook. However, EVERYONE will have to chip in for money for a camp stove, cooking utensils, and food. And EVERYONE will need to carry a little bit of it, because I'm not schlepping that much all by myself.

Camp stoves are easy enough to deal with. It's the kitchen's for the monster cleaning that can be a problem.

I've dealth with his particular model before. It's good for the breakfast fun if you have a 2 burner stove. IE Eggs and Coffee

And it works as a decient food prep area.

Granted it's not as nice as the twin sink with the self contained drainage and pumping water faucets, but it does the job.

And you can fold it down into a game table too =D

As for cooking larger things, all I need is a campfire and a few bits of cast iron and I'll make you a 4 course meal.
