It is very contagious and side effects are being beaten, accused of sexual harrassment and people believeing that you are ghey. 8D

Cornelius...

User Image

Name: Cornelius
Nickname: Corny
Gender: Male
Hatchdate: September 10th 2007
Likes: Attention, sweets, mysteries, sunny days, heights, stories
Dislikes: Silence, being ignored, being alone, rain, pain, bugs
Personality: Cornelius is very curious and clumsy which often gets him into trouble. He doesn't intend for these things to happen, they just do and when they do he's prepared for a hard scold from Rennik. Cornelius is good natured and kind hearted, he hates seeing Rennik work hard and exhaust himself. He hates it even more that he is unable to help him during these times. Cornelius is innocent, he has no idea that humans despise him, no idea the relationships between humans and dragons and does not understand why Rennik keeps him hidden from everyone. But he doesn't ask questions, Cornelius is easy to befriend and is extremly loyal to those he loves and cares for. Cornelius believes that he is the last dragon on earth, Rennik did not tell him this Cornelius simply came to the conclusion.

Note: Neither Rennik nor Cornelius know why there is a rune above Cornelius's head nor do they know what it means. However the rune does allow Cornelius to alter compunds to create something else. For example he can change common metals into lighter subtances or, if he consentrates enough, gold and silver. Sadly as of now Cornelius knows little about this ability and barly ever uses it due to Renniks fear of something going wrong.

Rennik...

[(Picture coming soon)]

Name: Rennik
Age: 15
Birthdate: October 15th 1991
Gender: Male
Likes: Rest, snow/winter, rain, silence, a job well done
Dislikes: Heavy loads, hot temperatures/summer, noise, being alone
Appearance: Rennik stands at 5"3' and is rather toned for someone his age, not a lot but enough to get noticed which is good considering his height. His flame red hair carries a few blonde and orange high lights and gives him a hot temper in appearance, his forest green eyes hold flicks of brown and the occasional gold yet keep his solid stare and barely ever shine like many would assume. Unlike his father and mother, Rennik does not carry his family's signature freckles but he does take after his fathers fashion sense.

Due to his constant work Rennik has learned to wear light boots, brown shorts and a stained white T-shirt. His hands are always covered in thick gloves that reach an inch past his wrist for protection and his eyes are often covered in goggles if they aren't pushed up on top of his head. His bleak clothing makes both his hair and eyes stand out more then anything else. Rennik's skin is lightly tanned from summer work and his knees and arms almost always carry a band aid of some sort. His body carries a few scares and bruises but nothing that would spark any concern. Rennik always tends to have a smudge of dirt either across his nose or on his cheek..or both.

Personality: Living on the Borderlines is tough and doesn't leave room for much sun shine and fun. Rennik is a serious character, insisting that he fears nothing when he truly does. Rennik is short tempered and can easily be persuaded to do something dangerous. He does not stand for insults and is more then ready to shoot back at the person who calls him short. Work and poverty built up pride and loyalty within him that he has towards his family and those living along the border. Like many he fears dragons but he does not hate them, he's more fascinated by them. He doesn't know the reason nor does he bother to ever find out, at this moment he has a sudden distaste towards that fascination. After all, because of it he's ended up with a dragon of his own.

Due to this new creature in his life Rennik has become more distant, more secretive to those around him. His work has become sloppier and he appears far more exhausted then usual. Many worry for him yet he shuns them aside and insist that it is nothing. Rennik is worrying how much longer he'll be able to hide Cornelius from his family and friends. He's kept the dragon in the dark about the world around him out of fear that he'd end up like the rest of the dragons that attack his home. Will Cornelius end up this way no matter what? Rennik isn't sure, the two have form a bond since the egg hatched, could he bring himself to leave Cornelius on his own?

A cruel world, a warm heart. Will you two be torn apart?

The Encounter...

FWAP!!

A growl was emitted from a humans throat as he pushed aside a branch that had shot forth into his face, his heavy feet caused leaves to break and crunch under him with every step he took. How could he be such a fool? He should have known that something like this was going to happen!! Barely any light shined through the thick mass of leaves, branches and who knows what else, his forest green eyes scanned the darkness above him. He prayed to see the movement of wings, the slither of a snake, something that would indicate life other then his own heavy breathing and beating heart. But, then again. did he really want to find another form of life? What if it wasn't the type of life he hoped for?

The boy's head shot from side to side as he picked up his pace. This land was unexplored, no one has set foot here other then himself. Or maybe someone else had, maybe another brave soul ventured this deep but never returned. The boy froze as he heard a tree branch snap. He stayed still, eyes wide and heart beating so hard he was sure it would burst. He stayed where he stood for a few second, a minute, perhaps two. As the world around him did nothing he released a sigh. He must have been hearing things, he most likely caused the tree branch to snap. He wasn't looking where he was going, his mind had caused him to panic. There was nothing here! How could there be? It would surely have come forth by now. A fifteen year old male with only the cloth on his back and the dwindling bravery from a dare? An easy meal if he would say so himself.

The boy continued on, his choppy red hair began to stick to his forehead as he picked up his pace, sweat seeping from his spores the longer he traveled. How long had he been wandering? They simply had dared him to take one hundred steps in and back but no one had told him about the hole that waited in his path. The fall was pain full enough, his bum still ached and both his knees held nasty scraps. He was sure that he would be unable to move once he took a nights rest but as of this moment he cared little for that. His mind had begun to worry again, what if he didn't find a place to get a nights sleep? What if he was stuck here all night? The boy fell back into his panic and began to run. He had no idea where he was running to, had no idea if he would find anyone, would they help him? What if he didn't find anyone? What if he found something?

The boy made a sharp turn to his left, it felt like the right thing at the time. He took three solid steps until his right foot shot down into nothing. His upper body flung forward hard as he slammed into dirt and rocks. His body turned at odd angles, his arms flung out at his side and his legs twisted around one another. His mind went blank as his body tumbled down a hill, or perhaps a cliff. He couldn't tell, the darkness above and the dark ground below twisted around him until they became one and he rolled through the unknown, unexplored land. Finally he felt his body roll off what he could only assume was a large rock or boulder, he felt himself fly through the air before landing hard on his back.

"OOF!!"

His body ached all over, his chest felt heavy and a sharp pain ran through his ribs with each breath. His right shoulder felt stiff and he could feel it swell up from slamming onto the ground so much. His already aching knees now burned and throbbed harder then before. His head swam as he began to realize what was up and what was down. He rolled around onto his chest, the pain growing more intense and he immediately returned to his previous position. He laid there for a while, trying to gain his breath yet fearing at the same time that his lungs would break his most likely cracked ribs. Eventually the boy pulled himself to his feet only to find a small shack if not a house before him. It was dark, spooky, yet the boy couldn't help be drawn to it. He was tired, injured and in pain. Right now the boy cared little for appearance, besides it was most likely empty.

The boy staggered his way towards the small house, it was only until he was close enough did he notice that the windows were covered with fabric. Yet a dim, pale glow was emitted from inside and the boy found himself rather interested in it. He gently pushed open the front door, it was locked tight. A frown formed on his face, someone was within it but it seemed that they did not want any company. Just as he turned around to leave he heard a soft click and the low creak of tired hinges as the door slowly opened. He turned back around and pushed the door gently with his finger tips. Did he dare to enter? The boy dared, he crept forward slowly, his eyes glanced around and finally laid down onto the shadowy figure before him.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here? A traveler comes my merry way?"

A sweet yet chilling voice spoke, he could tell that it was female but from where he stood he could see nothing of her. How long had she been here? Who was she? Did she live here? Questions flooded the boy's tired mind, he took a small sigh as to clear it. Just as he did so his eyes fell onto the round smooth objects in front of him. Each one a different color, a different shape. Were they dragon eggs?!? The boy froze, where exactly was he? How far had he traveled? He needed to get back! The boy stared around quickly, although he could not be sure he knew that this woman was watching him. She continued to speak about the eggs however, as if he was no threat and she knew that he would do nothing to harm her. She was right, the boy simply wished to get out as fast as he could yet he couldn't say the same for her. He had no idea who this woman was, what was going to happen and if she was going to allow him to leave freely. The boy stayed where he stood, eyes scanning the eggs yet again, why did she have dragon eggs in the first place?

The boy moved to say something, anything that would get him out of here and home. But his eyes caught the sight of one of the eggs. It was dark blue with gold writing on it, it was amazing yet the boy's mind would not allow him to forget what it was. His forest green eyes stared at it with much fascination, it was beautiful, his hand reached out to touch the smooth surface but he caught himself as the woman spoke.

“I see my other pretties have caught your eye, eh?
These little buggers keep pulling the disappearing act with me.
Why, one week they're here, then the next, two new ones have taken their place~!

Kind Stranger, you will help me won’t you?
You’ll take these little pretties and give them a good home, right?

Don’t think I will just give them to you though.
It is a better fate for them to disappear forever than be put in the hands of a cruel Human.

You will have to prove to me you can take care of them.

Of course, there’s also the fine.”

The boy stared at her in question. How would he prove to her that he was worthy of one of the eggs. What was he thinking?!?! These were dragon eggs, he could not take one back home with him! What would his friends say? What would his family say? But the egg, it was so fascinating, so beautiful, yet deadly at the same time. The boy was amazed by it, he wanted to see what it would grow into, he knew that if he were to take it he would need to keep it hidden. Keep it under a close eye and make sure he did his best to protect and raise it. He knew that he couldn't take it, but he wanted it. Before he could let his mind process his answer he spoke.

"From sight you can see that I have traveled a long way. I have gone through thick and thin, heaven and hell. I know the hardships of this world and understand what it takes to survive. I am not afraid of a challenge nor will I back down from a fight. My age may be deceiving but I assure you, I will do my best as to care for this egg and the dragon what it will grow into."

The boy spoke lies and truth. He had traveled a long way, he had been through hell but never heaven. Work ran his life, work after work, poverty and sweat. His form of heaven was hell to the wealthy man yet it was his heaven. He knew how to survive but not under these circumstance, he never came in contact with a dragon. He had no idea how he would raise the creature, hide the creature, he had no idea what it would need to survive. He only heard stories of Dragon-bound but never thought anything of it. Was that what would come from raising this creature? The boy pushed the thought aside, he needed this woman to believe him. She had challenged him by telling him to prove himself, he would take that challenge. And if she refused him a dragon he would try again until he was given one!

He could feel the woman's gaze as she examined him. Did she see through him? Did she see that he would be unable to give this egg the life it deserved but rather the best he could offer? His eyes shined with determination and despite his aching legs, piercing ribs and swollen shoulder the boy stood up straight. He stood tall and ready, he would get this egg, if not the next. He would not back down from her challenge nor would he fall under her stare. What happened next surprised him.

"Lay down, it seems you need rest.

If you are to take this egg you'll need to be prepared for far more then you could ever imagine.

Rest here for a day, more will come that may prove to be worthier and take this egg away."

The boy stared at the woman, he knew a smirk would be on her face. He took up her offer for rest, he needed it and he knew that if he was given the egg he'd need more strength then he had. As she led him to a old couch with a number of old rags draped over it the boy felt that he needed to add something to what he had said. He felt that she needed to know, even if she was meant to harm she had given him an opportunity that would surely change his life.

"Rennik. My name is Rennik." He said. He'd give her his first name, not his last. She didn't need to know his last name. His forest green eyes glanced towards the egg as he sat down on the couch before glancing back towards the woman. It was now that he saw her pale skin and purple hair, she smiled at him. Just as she did so, everything went black.
