If you want to continue this, continue it here, NOT in the Introduction thread. mrtommyos s0ul caper~ Dathu poweroutage [_caustic_] s0ul caper~ poweroutage Hi, I''m 17, month short of 18 and I''ve been on gaia for three months. I have been looking for a place like this, and I hope we get to bash religion here, otherwise your guild is worthless, worthless I tell you! My main interests are physics and math and politics. I''ve only recently started taking martial arts I bike regularily and I''m pretty good at soccer. I''ve always been an atheist and my parents are too, I am from former Yugoslavia (Yugoslavia rules!!!!) which was a communist country until the death of Tito. hence the atheism. I also realize how pointless it is. essentially man created god, not the other way around. You CAN bash religion, but as the rules say "the guild isn't about bashing other religions". So you can bash certain views of the religion, but you must show tolerance towards those who are open minded. 'Bashing' is senseless negativity. You can have negative views of religion, but you should also back them up. I.e.- Don't just post 'Religions suck. They r so dumb! Everyone who believes in god is retarded!' THAT would be senseless. how can you discuss religion completely with only atheists? THat's what I don't understand. You say you can't bash a religion but it's not like religious people can join, or can they, and even if they could they wouldn't - because it's the Atheist United guild. SO how can we have critical discussions with only one side of the story? I always thought the purpose of this guild was to provide an environment where atheists can talk about anything and everything without the influence and rules of any religious doctrine. I never thought it a place to debate atheism, but a place where atheists discuss their veiws on the world, their choice of morals, and their thoughts on life. I for one am curious what other atheists think about damn near everything, because the reason for their decisions are so unpredictable, where as a theist will always revert back to a bible or bible influenced ideology.......yeah. That's a rather interesting way to look at it. It's a relitivly truthful way to look at it. poweroutage actually I'm finding a fallacy in what you said. I've looked around the guild a bit, and there are some debates going on about certain topics which includes the choice or theism vs. atheism, and questions of religions into aspects of our lives. By saying that religious people will tend to quote on the bible you are discrediting their moral sources, which means that you are discrediting their ethical system. Which I don't beleive you can do since it's perfectly plausible. the only difference between theist's ethics and atheist's ethics is their axioms. They assume there is a god, we assume there isn't. That doesn't mean that their conclusions are not logical.

Their Really not that big of debates. Since were all here agnostic/Atheist theres really know point in debating it. The debates you might have seen were from the bountylich dude who has indeed left the guild. We sorta talk about religion in how the ideas of it are flawed.
I love debating some things. Particularly debates agaist Christian people cause they don know what their talking about so i always win! There is no christians here so not really needing to bash religion. Although debating other important matters such as "how many days is it appropriate to where the same socks in a row" might be better. My answer: 5 blaugh

No, we use physical proof. They use metaphysical proof. Which is real proof? I do believe the one that can be tested is, friend.
In other words: It's not that we disagree with them. It's that THEY disagree with modern science.
