I'm thinking of getting the Protoform Starscream, just for completionist sake... but I don't want to just leave it in the package.
Of course, I'm worried about Gold Plastic Syndrome. I know it hasn't been out long enough, but are there any owners of the toy who have seen the swirls of death in the plastic?
Also, probably a silly question, but can GPS apply to silver / grey toys as well? I ask this because I've noticed some swirls on the front of my new Jazz.

I've never heard of GPS before myself. What is it?

Gold Plastic Syndrome is the natural decomposition of Bronze coloured plastic made from a mixture of plastics.

I have at least three Of the Proto StarScreams, one to be StarScream and the others for customing. Out of all of them I had two swirls on One Figure. The swirls weren't very large and I repainted that one anyway. I say It's a 50/50 chance of getting one with swirls. If you do get one with GPS repaint it like I did or-Slag-pretend it's some cybertronian symbol.
I have swirls on the front of my Jazz too. I think it's just a production error.

GPS isn't simply plastic with metal flake swirls in it. GPS is when the plastic crumbles into tiny bits. It's a structural problem, not a cosmetic one.
