It all started with a contest Tokyopop hosted to give some kids a chance to get their own manga published but now it has become more. Other publishers are starting to publish what has been dubbed Ameri-manga. Some titles are Last Hope, Bizenghast, and Van Von Hunter.
So what do you think?

I'm very happy with the recent expeptance of ameri-manga. For the most part, many anime and manga fans have been rather prejudiced about it. A lot of people on Gaia seem to think that if it wasn't made in Japan, it's automatically crap. I have to say, ameri-manga gives me hope for the future. sweatdrop

Actually, I think Seven Seas Entertainment came out before Tokyopop's shinanaginze (butchered another word but who's counting eh?). They produce a lot of American Anime. Plus you could count Dark Horse for putting the Megatokyo comic out there for those who don't ghave internet (or just need a handy way to carry Megatokyo with them). Tokyo pop may have did their thing before Seven Seas though. I'm just playing by ear yah know. But Dark Horse I know was before.

I read a portion of Bizenghast. It was ok. Didn't really give me a good impression

It sounds okay, but I haven't rad anything. I think it has a chance once it gets read by more people, but a lot of people think the art won't be as good.

I have no doubt that many stories out there are going to be good ones.
Just the ones I've read I didn't like. So right one I'm not really for it. Since it costs so much here. But I do like American comics, especially ones like the Sandman, though thats not really ameri-manga.
My point is though, the reason I buy manga is because it was different from other comics. American comics have never really interested me for some reason. Ya, now they're in the same format , but that doesn't really change whats in it is what I'm trying to say.

I like the old super hero comics, the comics of today are too dark. Ameri-manga can only go up, since they have been down before they even started.

Interesting concept. I'm sure the ameri-manga will be alright. I guess we'll see how good it turns out whence they're released.

They haven't done anything bad so it's alright. I don't like Ani-mangas though.

What I really hope will happen is that Ameri-manga developes it's own flavor. I really want American manga-ka to find something original, not just copy off of Japanese standards. I fully support the Ameri-manga movement, but I hope that in embracing a foreign tradition, we are able to make it our own and implement our own culture and ideals into it rather than just assimilating to the norm.

I'm for Seven Seas, an Ameri-manga company. No Man's Land is awsome.
