I am Very, very a**l about where my viking metal comes from. I like it strickly from Scandinavia. I kinda liked this band called Baptized in Ice, they were vikign Metal but they hailed from South America. When i found that out, they lost their "pi-zaz" for me at least. It feels fake to me if it's not from Scandinavia, like they are copy-cats, you know?

I have to disagree, Elderfrost are great but they're from Utah. And the main guy behind it has an account on gaia although I haven't seen him in a while.

1) I thought Elderfrost were more folk than Viking. 2) Yeah but to me it takes away from the feel you know? I'm better off not knowing where they come from 3) Hey! Option 3 my arse!

I can understand your point. However, I guess I'm not as a**l as you about it. I think the way I see it is that as long as I can enjoy the music and it sounds like they actually know the stuff then it's all good to me.

I suppose that my point here is, not that I can't appreciate these bands making fine music, I do enjoy Elderfrost he's even on my ipod. It's just that sometimes certain bands feel like copycats.
For my most part I have gotten over this disillusionment.

The only real difference between Viking and Folk is the type of Folk used.

Well, all of the Viking metal bands I listen to are from Scandinavia, so I don't have an opinion about vikings from America. But it doesen't seem right. If they do it Ok though, then we can't hate them for that i guess sweatdrop
