I saw the Rent on broadway 2 days ago and figured I'd give you all an update on my opinions of the cast.
Anthony Rapp: AMAZING! He was really connected with his character. I've never seen anyone act that well in my life!
Adam Pascal: AMAZING! ( no I'm not a fangirl ) I thought his voice might be too harsh, but it wasn't, he's perfected his style of singing so that it doesn't sound like he's hurting his voice. He and Anthony sound great in the songs they share.
Nicolette Hart (maureen): not my favorite, but I'm a big fan of Idina. She rushed a little but she was nice when I met her at the stage door, (she liked my outfit, I came dressed as maureen biggrin )
Tamyra Gray (mimi): Excelent, though I love Antonique Smith and was really sad she'd left.
Crystal something (too lazy to get my playbill and look up her name, she played joanne): she had a strong voice but was off time with everything. In tango maureen anthony would stand there waiting for her to catch up because she was going so slow. She'd sing her lines to the wrong part of the music, it didn't sound so good, but she played the character well.
Collins and Angel: Both really good. I'd seen them both before (I think...) and they were great. 1000 sweet kisses was so adorable!
Benny: really good. He's been on broadway for a while from what i'd heard. He was really nice and stood there for ever while my mom focused the camera too.
Anyway, that's what I thought of the main cast. If anyone else has seen the show recently or caught it on youtube or whatever, I'd love to hear what you thought.
