Oh-no! Time was running out! The little girl skipped through an open field, pausing now and then to sniff at the air in hopes of picking up an ever familiar scent. The little filly was in a game of hide-and-go-seek, except it was a secret game! Her brothers didn't know they were playing much less that their pale little sister was it!
She'd find one of them sooner or later and then the games would begin~! Or so she hoped.
Sometimes Marius wasn't in the mood for such things and it took a little persuading to get Zevach to do much of anything that wasn't trouble. It sure wasn't easy being a girl. . . . Especially with two brothers who didn't seem to understand the concept of fun!
"Come out, come out w-w-wherever you are!" She giggled softly, peeking her head in a bush only to find nothing but a few spiderwebs and their creators. "Hiya s-s-spiders!" She greeted with a smile, not at all disturbed by their leggy-nature before remembering her mission.
Now. . . where was she going again? Ah yes! Searching for her brothers.
Her tail swished lazily behind her as Eponine paused for the billionth time to study the coloured flowers down by her hooves. They were pink and red and orange and yellow and were absolutely gorgeous! Leaning over she took a big sniff - and sneezed. . . . .
Wow they smelled delicious!
Even if the pollen tickled her nose. Did she smell as good as a flower? Maybe if she rolled in them she would. Brothers forgotten - almost - the little filly did exactly that. Flopping over in the most ungraceful manner, the soquili rolled over in the ground, making sure she was promptly upon the flowers. Legs flailing the air, the little one giggled as she rolled and rolled, completely unaware of exactly how ridiculous she looked.
Ignorance was bliss, was it not?

With a final flick of his wings, Aureate pranced into the woods, keen to go exploring. After all, the last few times he had gone on such a trek, he had encountered some pretty wonderful things... A Predator that was now his friend... A big stallion with a heart of an adventurous colt... Of course the silver stallion Sibalto who now stood as his Guardian from time to time. Who knew what he would find today?
Sticking his head further into the bush, Aureate flicked his wings and swished his tail, considering the sleeping little furry, well, thing he had discovered while walking. It was curled up in a little ball, and had a poofy tail, and he had never seen its like before... Wonder what it is? He thought to himself as he sniffed at it, careful not to wake it up. Will it want to eat me when it gets bigger? Will it get bigger?

Quite sure that her now dirty, dusty coat was stained with the scent of flowers - or so she hoped - Eponine flailed a bit as she attempted to roll back to her hooves. Getting down was the easy part. . . it was getting back up that was the trick!
Eventually the pale coated girl managed. Tail flicking behind her, she paused to look around at the world before her, contemplating exactly where her journey would take her today! It took a few moments but Eponine remembered that the day wasn't hers alone, oh no! Today she had to find someone. . . someone special. . . someone - HER BROTHERS! Yes that was right! She needed to find Zavech and Marius so she could tag them and pull them in to her game.
Now. . . if she were her brothers where would she be? They obviously weren't roaming on the plain or rolling around in flowers as she had been. Aqua eyes drifted to the trees looming overhead, their shade enticing her closer to investigate. The woods was always a great place to hide thanks to the trees and natural darkness. Her brothers darker coats, Marius' especially, would blend in with the shadows and make it easy for her to unknowingly walk by.
Giggling softly to herself, a few broken and bruised flower petals stuck to her side like war charms, the little filly scurried in to the woods carelessly. Oblivious to any sort of path, the girl kept her eyes peeled for any sign of her brothers.
That wasn't her brother, that wasn't her brother, that wasn't her brother, that wasn't her brother, that wasn't her brother, that was a tail, that was -
WAIT!
Giving a bush a double take, the girl couldn't believe her luck! All she saw was a dark tail and dark legs - Marius was dark like that, wasn't he? It must be him! Oblivious and blind to the rose on the foals leg, Eponine snuck as quietly as she could behind the foal. . .
. . . and. . . . . pounced forward, taking his tail in her mouth and tugging back. "GAHCHA!" She mumbled around the mouthful of tail, genuinely oblivious to her error. . . .

"AHHHHHH!" Aureate screeched like he had been shot. One moment he was quietly snuffling at the thing living in the bush, the next there was someone behind him tugging on his tail and scaring the living daylights out of him. He shot sideways out of the bush, stumbling over the branches as the fluffy-tailed thing squeeked, leapt up, and dissappeared into the dark of the woods. He tugged his tail free to face his attacker, only to find a wingless filly the color of moonlit mist standing there, a playful expression on her face. Flower petals and blades of grass clung to her as though she had just condensed from mist over a flowery field, and she was quite pretty.... Too bad his heart hand leapt of his chest and galloped off without him. "HEY!" He yelped. "Who are you and why are you tuggin' on my tail! Are you trying to scare me half to death?" He considered her, calming slightly. He would like to be her friend, as soon as he recovered from his shock.

If Aureate had thought he was scared stiff, that was nothing to what Eponine felt! "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" She shrieked in unison, dropping the tail as the colt bolted and jerked away. His shriek and sudden movement had scared her, causing her to rear and jump back. Staring at the colt, heart racing and aqua eyes as wide as plates, Eponine could only stare dumbly at the stranger.
It took her shaken mind a moment to realize her mistake. . . . . . "You're n-n-not my br-br-brother~!!" She gasped, stumbling and tripping over her words as embarrassment began to set in. How could she have made such a mistake? She had thought his dark legs and tail had looked familiar. But the more she stared at the masked stranger before her, the more she realized that it was certainly NOT Marius.
Oh dear. . . .
Her ears pinned back as she dropped her head, cheeks flushed beneath her coat and her expression instantly contrite. Oh, how she'd scared the boy - and how he'd frightened her! Was he mad at her now? He certainly seemed kind of mad, and she had just pulled on his tail for no reason. Dropping her gaze to stare at the ground, Eponine tried to find words for an apology. . . . .
Oops just wouldn't cut it.
"I . . uh. . um. . . uh . . ." It didn't help Aureate was a stranger. The little filly didn't do well with first-meetings. She was naturally a bit hesitant and coy about strangers and new things - so to have thrust herself upon Aureate so suddenly was taboo in her book. "I'm Ep-p-p-p - Eponine," she stammered, tail swishing nervously. "And I . . I r-r-really d-didn't mean it, t-t-t-truly!" She hastily explained, stammer more than usual thanks to how upset she was. "I th-th-thought you - b-but you weren't and . . . . and . . I . . he . . . I'm sorry."
Finally she looked back up at the dark colt, oblivious to his wings. She'd notice them later - after she was sure she wasn't in trouble.

Anything he might have said whooshed out of him as he realised he had scared her... And she was shy... And seemed, more delicate than he... Was it because she was a girl? No... Isis was plenty spunky... But this one... She seemed to think he would transform into a moster and eat her... Anyone could mistake another horse for someone... Especially if said horse was half-buried in a bush... He couldn't really blame her for the mistake.. It had been just that, after all... A mistake... He sighed, and tried to smile very gently, wings loosening slightly. "It... Its ok... I, I understand what its like to make mistakes... And... No harm done... Eponine... I... I am Aureate, A son of Sekhmet and Erik... I often wander here... I did not mean to interrupt you and your brother's game..." Perhaps if they got over this interesting first meeting, they could be friends... Aureate always wanted friends... And she was the first filly he had met -other than his sister-... And she was a ground-walker! She would probably really fun to be friends with and talk to and adventure with... If she didn't hate him for scaring her out of her skin...

The girl's heart rate had begun to subdue, though she kept her head lowered a bit submissively. She still felt bad for pouncing the stranger and yanking on his tail, but. . . . he didn't seem too upset. Aqua eyes studied the dark colt, taking mental note of his appearance and the differences between him and her brothers.
This colt was dark furred like Marius, but instead of having stripes he had a white mask on part of his face and yellow on his - - - his wings! The girl finally realized that this soquili was none like she'd ever seen. . . . Wings?
No. Way.
Her eyes lingered on the feathered appendages before she remembered her manners and not to stare. Giggling softly, a smile quickly replacing her scared features and any original fright was easily forgotten. This was someone new, someone different, and Eponine wasn't one to scare for long.
Shaking out her coat, the girl pawed softly at the ground. "It's nice to-to-to meet you, Aureate," she smiled up at him, pleased. "I'm a son of - - - " The girl stopped before giggling again, this time at herself and her silliness. "I'm n-n-not a son at all!" As if Aureate couldn't tell. . . .
Trotting closer, a bit curious at the new one, Eponine glanced from him to the bush and back again. "Oh, my b-b-brothers aren't really p-playing," she explained with a shrug. "B-but I pretend th-th-they are sometimes." It was true. The little pale coated female often had a heck of a time getting Marius or Zevach to come play. And as much as she loved her parents, sometimes the little filly wanted to play games with someone her own age!
But the only other folas she knew were her brothers. . . until now. Without missing a bit, Eponine's eyes grew wide and danced in good humor and delight. "HEY! Do - do - Do you want to p-p-play?" She didn't know any foal that didn't like games or friends, so why would this Aureate be any different? Maybe they could come up with a game of chase or hide and go seek or find some glorious adventure!
Eponine wanted friends desperately. Would this black winged colt be her first?

Aureate reached out with his dainty head, wanting to nuzzle her kindly... To applogize if he had scared her, to offer friendship... He took a small step forward, freezing when she started considering him. He let her study him as he returned the favor. She had a short back, a fainty arch of neck and delicate face, her tail fanning her hindquarters. Her coat was probably the loveliest he'd ever seen.. And he found himself wondering what shade her wings would be if she had them. Did all angels not have wings after all? He fanned his wings as she fixed on them, pleased how the obsidian and gold glittered side by side. He was rather proud of his wings, and as he fanned the air and folded them, he smiled widely. "Nice to meet you, Daughter of ???? Do you have a name?" He tilted his head at her. "I'd like to play... Sure."

((Sorry for the delay! I had thought I responded earlier. xD )) Eponine stared up a the black and gold soquili, having never, ever seen one like him! All of her family consisted of blue, teal and white colors so to see one mostly black was unusual. On top of it he possessed those beautiful set of wings! A touch of envy ran through the girl - why was it that he got wings and she didn't? Some she'd met had horns and fins and all sorts of amazing things. . . . .
All she had was a tail and fluffy mane. A shame she was entirely, 100% simple.
Thankfully the envy didn't last long. The black colt had gotten over his anger it seemed at her tail-tugging and had agreed to play! Eyes going wide with delight the little mare giggled, contemplating his words. "I"m . . u h. . d-d-daughter of T-T-Twilight and-and C-C-Cosette?" It came out more of a stammered question than anything else if only because she'd never been asked her lineage before. Why did he want to know who she was the daughter of. . . ?
Oh well - maybe she didn't have to understand. So long as he played games with her that was all that mattered. Hopefully he wouldn't make her beg or plead like Zevach and Marius. He seemed outgoing and friendly though, so that was an absolute plus! "And m-m-my name's Ep-p-p-ponine!" She spoke her name slowly, attempting to sound it out without tripping over her tongue too much. It didn't really work, but with luck the black colt would understand what she was trying to say. It never occurred to her that her stammer made her different than others her age.
Leaning over to the black colt, she gave him a friendly nuzzle underneath his chin. "L-L-Let's play t-t-tail tag!" She suddenly explained with a giggle, curious to see how fast this winged one could run. Maybe he could fly with them too? Some might consider it cheating but Eponine saw it as a new level of competition. The girl wanted to run and after they grew tired they could get a drink at the lake or . . . or just rest under a tree! It would be a glorious afternoon if she had her way - hopefully the black colt would be up for it!
Without giving the boy too much of a chance to respond, she reached up and gingerly tugged on his mane. Whirling around, the filly reared and began her run. She did peek behind her shoulder to make sure he understood the rules and was following before she picked up her pace. She wasn't going to go easy on him just because he was new!

((It's ok.. LOL))
Aureate watched her with his wide blue eyes, wondering why she kept looking at him so funny. She was a lot lighter than his family, but since he was used to Sibalto's silver coat, this little filly wasn't all that strange. She was very pretty... He liked moonlight, and starlight, and mist... And that's what this filly reminded him of... "Yes, I remember your name is Eponine." He echoed, smiling. "That's pretty.. I like that... I don't know your parent's, but my Guardian does... He met them both when exploring.. Sibalto does a lot of exploring, just like me!" "Tail tag?" He echoed, somewhat reluctant. He'd played Splash-Tag, and was a master, but Tail-Tag? At her tug and retreat he whinnied happily and leapt after her. "GONNAGETCHA!"

The girl had never heard of Sibalto before, but, then again, she sometimes forgot that her parents had friends of their own. While she, Marius and Zevach could wander all day and meet strangers, the little filly often forgot that her parents could do the same as well. To here they were the safeguards, the pillars of their family's foundation. Except sometimes the poor girl took it a little too literally and expected them to stay put! It came as a surprise when, lo and behold, some other adult actually knew them!
So. . . . Aureate was an explorer was he? The little filly kept that in mind for future conversation purposes - what all had the little winged one explored? Had he been to faraway lands or distant places? Had he seen things none had ever seen before? Her family liked to wander, she knew, but the little girl never thought of herself as an explorer.
Maybe they could find shinies together or secret passages in the woods and caves up in the hills? There were lots of things for two little foals to discover in a world that was ever so big!
But for now - he was chasing her! "EEEEEEEE!" She squealed, eyes going wide as if the fact he was running after her was a surprise. "I'm f-f-faster'n you!" She giggled as she took off, tail waving like a flag in the wind. Oh no - he wouldn't get her without a fight. . . .
But, then again, he did have wings. If his feet grew tired he could probably fly. . . and what as sight that would be!

"Bet you're not!" He huffed back, running after her. "Bet since I'm a boy I'm stronger and faster!" His father had told him that often stallions were bigger, stronger and faster than mares... This was because boys were suppossed to protect girls, for no male could call himself a gentleman if he ever let a lady be harmed. And Aur really wanted to be a gentleman. "Gonna Getcha Eponine!"

Eponine laughed out loud as the black colt chased after her, heart pumping in excitement. It wasn't often she got to play with others and this winged one was her very first friend! She'd never had one before and she hoped upon hope that she could keep him as one. Maybe they'd get to play all afternoon? And maybe she'd get to see him again, and not just once?
"B-b-b-boy's are sloooooow," she replied with a giggle, glancing over her shoulder at him in defiance. Just let him see how fast and wild she could be! She might be smaller than him but she did have two brothers to keep up with! That had given her experience enough to be able to tolerate any sort of rough housing or horse play that might come up with another boy.
Alas, the chase was not meant to last long. Still in fits of laughter, the ice blue filly didn't see the burly root sticking out of the ground from a nearby tree. The woods weren't like the flat plain and meadow she was used to, so her laughter quickly changed to a startled yelp. "Ach!" Her hoof caught on the root and sent the little filly flying. She tried her best to catch herself but failed, and went rolling head over heels a few feet away.
Her forward momentum finally stopped as she skidded across the leaf covered ground, landing in a heap of dead leaves and dirt. Eponine stayed still for a minute, catching her breath as it occurred to her what had happened. Slowly, slowly, two ears pricked up and she turned wide eyes over to Aureate.
. . . . . . . . "Ow."
Oooh her front hoof was sore even when resting. Maybe she'd take a minute and recompose herself before she struggled to her feet.

Aureate squeeked in surprise as one moment his new friend was moving along just fine, and the next she was tumbling head over heels and every which-way over the ground. What if she got hurt! Sliding around in front of her, he nosed her gently. "Are you ok? Did you twist something? Or break it? Or dislocate it? Do I need to get help? Eponine?!" He knew his voice was frantic, but as she was his first and probably his best friend, he didn't want her hurt! That would just be awful! And he'd feel bad, because they were racing at the time... Was it his fault?

Despite her rough tumble and the sudden soreness of her ankle the little mare couldn't help but slip in to a grin. The sudden fall had startled her something bad but she could still untangle herself. . . . right? A crooked smile set upon features as her new friend srushed over, frantically sprouting out questions. "It's okay, I'm ok-k-kay!" She reassured, carefully struggling to her feet. She'd skinned up her front knees and her front ankle was already beginning to swell, but it didn't hurt that much. Tail swishing behind her, the little filly reached over and nipped playfully at her concerned, winged friend.
"G-g-gotcha," she grinned as she gave his mane a gentle tug. So much for playing. . .
"L-l-l-looks like ch-chase is out of the p-p-picture," Eponine giggled, ducking her head as she gingerly walked around her friend. She'd sprained her ankle but at least she hadn't broken anything. The only question was - how on earth was she going to make it all the way back to where her family was? Hmm. Maybe she'd worry about that after Aureate left her. . . . For now, she still had a friend and she still wanted to play!
Aqua eyes lingered upon her black furred friends wings. Not only were they absolutely gorgeous to behold (she'd never seen a winged soquili before) but they had to be useful. If his legs ever went out at least he could fall back on flight. Realizing she was staring, the little filly gave a soft nicker and looked around. If tail-tag was out of the question, and chase, whatever could they do next?
Oh dear - she didn't want to bore her new friend! Then he'd leave and maybe not want to be friends with her anymore. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. What to do, what to do, come on Eponine think! "So . . uh. . .um. . . . . n-n-now what?" Great. Way to pressure little Aureate in to thinking of something - that left him open to saying 'go home'!
Crap.
