Timeline starts A.D. 1969, goes till current plot arc.
A.D. 1969-Man walks on the moon
A.D. 2768- Man creates the first 'warp drive', allowing ships to travel faster than light. First contact with a second "human' planet
A.D. 2943- Earth becomes overpopulated, poor begin to flee to space colonies and other civilised planets, increasing human presence throughout the galaxy
A.D. 3012- Earth finally cleaned up, becomes the 'Gem of the universe.'
A.D. 3225- First contact with Drathonians, causes distress among the people of the HSI (Human space initiative), the precursor to the Terran Republic.
A.D. 3253-'Friendship' struck with drathonians
A.D. 3896-OUTO (omni-universal treaty organisation) created, based on the ancient NATO
A.D. 3911-3919-Political unrest forms in the domain of the HSI. Accusations of Drathonian raids on rimworld colonies are made. Rebel groups reject the doctrine of the OUTO. A nine year war, known as the Rimworld Rebellions, begins. Enormous support grows within the military, and a large segment of the Terran Navy joins the rebellion. The Human Protection Alliance becomes the banner under which many of them fight. The war only fuels obligatory trust of the Drathonian Empire.
A.D. 3921-3980-The Drathonians frame a series of pro-HSA terrorist attacks on neighboring alien races. Blind to the truth, the OUTO effectively orders the unconditional disarmament of several of the strongest alien powers. Threatened with war, many agree. Others refuse, trying to forcefully resist the great deception of the Drathonian Empire. The series of armed conflicts in which many of the alien planets were completely disarmed and occupied by 'policing' occupying forces is known as the Great Purges. Modern knowledge reveals to us that it was an elaborate ploy for the Drathonian Empire to eliminate all threats to their military without open war.
A.D. 4000- Altres discovered in the nearest galaxy to the milky way, said galaxy is renamed Altresian empire.
A.D. 4023- Terran republic formed, earth becomes capitol
A.D. 4033/0 PT- Drathonian betrayal. 90% of humans obliterated, OUTO destroyed, earth destroyed. Humanity clings to life
A.D. 4037/4 PT- Great Drathonian War begins
A.D. 4047/14 PT- Battle Hymn launched, Battle of Terra IV.
A.D. 4047 / 14 PT - Stardate 4047.07.09.0800 [yyyy.mm.dd.time]
AKA July 9th, 4047. [24th anniversary of formation of the UTR]

Stardate 4047.07.18.0635 -- Orbital battle of Saratar begins.
Stardate 4047.07.18.0921 -- Planetary assault on Saratar begins.

Stardate 4048.01.25.0000 ---- Battle Hymn of the Republic turns one year old, the Terran-drathonian war reaches year 15. The Hymn's second refit, to a Terra II, is completed. Saratar base attacked by Drathonians.
Stardate 4048.03.30.1300 ---- SS 215 engages Drathonians upon a Carbon Planemo; most of the action occurs beyond them, and the ship is taken, albeit with great structural damage.
Stardate 4048.06.02.1600 (Local) ---- [Incomplete Entry] SS 215 lands upon Surandan, a planet ravaged by Drathonian bio-weapons.

Idea
2943: the earth becomes overpopulated forcing the mass exodus of anybody who could get out. (superpower countries, all the rich, et al) poor left to struggle for survival.
by 3680: location of earth forgotten... no known records exist stating its location.

Except earth was the terran republic's capital till the Drathonians blowed it up, and it's more likely that the poor would leave, since by that time space travel was extremely common.... *shall fix timeline*

An Idea:
A.D. 3930-4032-Drathonians convince OUTO that all other alien nations in the galaxy are hostile towards the two groups (while it was true they hated the drathonians, they pitied OUTO for making such an uninformed alliance) The Drathonians and OUTO begin a hundred-year war known as "The Great Purge" Defeating, capturing and enslaving every other major race in the Milky Way Galaxy. Not realizing their mistake till it was too late, the Terrans Set themselves up for a Great Betrayal.

That time period is a little conflicting with the discovery of Altres. If we are subjugating all other species during this time, wouldn't that have pushed us into a war with the Altresians? Other than that it makes a bit of sense... maybe make it sound a bit more like a Red Scare or something. Furthermore, you have to figure that the OUTO consists of all the species that are being subjugated, so they would not willingly allow it. Maybe something more like this. Also... if we're going to do this, we should totally get some more alien races in here.

That sounds pretty good. much better than what my initial idea was.
The thing with the Altresians is that the Terrans don't see them as 'alien', and decided to keep their existence and location secret from the Drathonians, because some of the higher ups started figuring something about the lizards. Otherwise, the Drathonians would have succeeded in wiping out humans.
