Okay, so Cloud smiles at the end of AC, right? And that seems to be a big deal to hint towards the "Cleris" side. Well, not to me. Something that is often UN-noticed, is the fact that Zack is in that scene. Cloud is smiling at Aeris and Zack, knowing now that he never had to blame himself for his deaths. It's the feeling that "Every thing's okay now, right?" and that it truly is. Cloud is realizing that the two friends he saw die, don't blame him. That he didn't need forgiving. His troubling feelings are gone.
THAT is why he smiled, IMO.
In AC, Cloud smiles at Tifa ONLY.
She smiles.
He smiles back.
Then smiles at the children.
Then just plain smiles.
 
There's also the part, where Cloud nods and smiles a bit in the motorcycle scene with Tifa. I don't have the screencap though. : ]

I think this proves that more people than just Aeris contribute to Clouds smile. Like Zack and Tifa.

The happiest I've ever seen Cloud had to be in the Crisis Core trailers which takes place before he even meets Aeris. I mean, sure he smiles at her and it may be a rare occurrence but I don't think it was an exclusive thing. If you think of the moment Cloud just defeated Sephiroth, was cured from his terminal disease, cured the sick children, was surrounded by his friends and people who cared for him and not only was Aeris there but Zack too.

Yeah! Now that you think about it, Cloud did smile a lot in Crisis Core! Huh...only around Zack though. xd The irony.....it'd be delightful if that smile was really reserved for Zack. Psssh. xd

I don't think it implies any hidden, non-platonic relationship. xd Of course not. That was a joke. xd But anyway....It's frustrating when Cleris claim that Cloud isn't smiling at Tifa. They claim that he's smiling at the whole group. *Sighs* But if he really WAS smiling at the whole group, why would the camera CLOSE IN on Tifa's face? I took Intro to Media technology so I know about camera shots. Close in's focus on one point, signifying the importance of that one scene. IMPORTANCE! Both looked at each other...."You're back...." "I'm back". Tifa and Cloud are practically going to spend the rest of their lives with each other. rolleyes

I think that Cloud and Tifa are much too close to go their seperate ways. Even if they had a huge fight chances are they'd make up simply because they've been through too much together. biggrin

Sara Hysaro I think that Cloud and Tifa are much too close to go their seperate ways. Even if they had a huge fight chances are they'd make up simply because they've been through too much together. biggrin
Fights are normal in relationships, if you have been with someone as long as they have been together and have never fought/argued then there are some problems...

Yeah, but most Cleris argue that BECAUSE they fight means that they aren't compatible. confused You can't expect a Mary Sue kind of couple. (Not to say that Cleris are like that.) It's what makes Cloti REAL. They even have a family, with kids that they protect and support. That's what is most important to them.
*I wonder why Square made Last Order seem more Cloti based? I still don't really get it. neutral I luffels the scene of course, but it contradicts the story. mad Then again....since Last Order is released....it's canonish.*

Well I wonder why Square gave Zack a full 10 minute depressing monologue after he got shot about 50 times in Crisis Core. I think that contradicts some things as well. If they ever remake the game after Aeris gets stabbed I demand they give her a lengthy goodbye speech to explain why Cloud will become such a douche 2 years later.

I wasn't talking about normal fights that every relationship goes through, I'm talking about the kind of fight that threatens to rip the relationship to shreds. By this point, I don't think it's possible for Tifa and Cloud to have one of those fights.

/sarcasm Pfft! rolleyes Well, I'm sure that they wanted the scene to be more dramatic when Zack dies. If they DO have a remake....I'm sure that they'll give the same luxury to Aeris....since both died a sudden death....*Sighs* Whatever. To Sara: I agree. Actually, it's pretty much impossible for them to get into those fights. sweatdrop Cloud is too mellow....and Tifa is too kind. Yeah....

You know, I was afraid of that.
That if FFVII was re-made, they'd change Aeris' death some weird way and make it not as sad, or try something new that would make it over-exagerated. A nice clean, unexpected cut was good enough. I didn't need any speech from her. xD
But yeah--- Explanation as to why Cloud turned Emo would have been nice, since he was just FINE at the end of VII.
