Estanesse In the world of Me'a Naur, dragons rule the untamed land. Though wild and new, this world is filled with a balanced peace. Since dragons are few, elves take the role of peacekeeper: Fighting battles for the weak while dragons watch over the home of all. But now, at the turn of the century, a new threat has arrived.
Humans have invaded the world and have begun disturbing the peace. They take lives for reasons other than food. They treat the elves as lower beings, despite their enhanced senses and abilities. They've even begun stealing dragon eggs. They use the broken shells for jewelery, or sell them whole for profit, treating the hatchlings like slaves to pull carts or hunt for them.
All have noticed the difference. All have noticed the evil that hangs in the air. Nothing had been done, though...until now. When one single human dared to venture into the realm of Huine, he stole the dragons only egg while she slept. Now, all dragons become angry and distressed over the loss of their eggs, but Huine is no normal dragon. Huine is the last of her kind. The last dark dragon. Dragons mate for life, and when her mate died of a common disease among dragons, her egg was all she had left.
The theft of this egg was the last straw, for all of the more common dragons felt her lonely pain. With elves on their side, the dragons attacked the humans, starting the war of the Estanesse.

Rules -:Follow Gaia TOS They're there for a reason. So read and follow them. I don't want to get in trouble for your mistakes -:Keep romance PG-15 Romance is going to be expected, but please keep it appropriate. I'll allow to touching above the waist. After that it's to the PMs. -:Keep violence and language PG-19 This is a war setting. I expect violence, and I know it's going to get bloody. Just don't get sadistic with it ok? Also. I don't mind language at all. Just don't go crazy with it. If the situation calls for it, go ahead! Curse your head off! Just don't use it for no reason. -: LITERACY IS A MUST! I expect at LEAST five lines in 9, 10 or 11 size font. Not sentences. LINES. I despise one-liners. Those will not be accepted at all. Even I get writers block, so I can understand shorter posts now and then. But don't make a habit of it. Spelling mistakes are accepted, but only if we can understand what you're trying to say. I will not accept chat speak or using any type of symbol for actions. I expect quotes for dialog and ..put the heart emoticon somewhere in your profile so I know you read the rules.. nothing for actions. Novel setup please. Since tabs don't work on gaia please enter for a new paragraph. -:Please read everything! I know it may be alot for some of you but it's all here to help this thread run smoothly. If you really insist on skimming, at least read through the info. That post holds the most important information in the thread. Such as the types of dragons and what is and isn't allowed in your profiles. -:Follow these rules! I know they're a bit harsh but trust me, if everyone follows them this thread will be a fun, nicely flowing roleplay. I intend to keep going with this. Note the title "the dragon Chronicals. All of that will come later though. -:Please PM all profiles to me I don't want any profiles disturbing the thread. So pm the profiles with the title "War of the Ages" To let me know you read the rules thoroughly. Also, please include a sample of your roleplaying abilities. -:Listen to what I say I made this thread and I know what's best for it. I have the right to add more rules if I want, and when I do I will post it in the announcements page. I will not announce in the thread when the announcements post has been updated, so make sure to check every day. Just in case.
NOTE: This thread really has no set plot but for the war. In truth, it's pretty much just one of those threads where you make a character, meet people, and do whatever you want. You can join the war on either side and be in the front lines if you want. You can be a character that fights the smaller battles throughout the forest, or you can just be neutral and not fight. It's all up to you. The only really necessary characters are Huine...and we might need some leaders for the armies. You know, generals and such. I'll be doing some editing over the next few days, so bear with me. But this will not effect your ability to roleplay in the thread or to make a character. If I make any changes to the profile setup, I apologize for any inconvenience but I will be asking you to edit your profile according to the changes. They will not be major changes and will not effect your character in any way but to tell us a little more about them. So as I said. Please bear with me as I make these changes. They will be being made until I feel the thread is truly complete.

InfoNOTE: If you are going to be an elf, please use this website for all elvish translations or words. It will keep everything uniform and neat. Thank you. Types of DragonsDragons of the Dark There are two colors for dark dragons. Black or purple. They do not vary in species, only in color. These dragons in the elvish language are called Mor'loki. Huine is the last of the Dark dragons, and is a rare blend of both black and purple. She is also the one who led the attack on the humans. Dark dragons rarely come out during the day, and fight best in the dark. The dark it is the better they fight. They are near blind in the middle of the day, when the sun is brightest, and can see perfectly at night. They vary in size depending on the cave they are born in. Their breath is more of a poison. They breath different types of poison as well. One poison is much like an acid. Whatever it touches, that substance seems to almost melt away. It's extremely powerful, and painful. The second enters through your lungs. It is not painful, but just as powerful. It takes about three weeks to take effect, and is mainly used for vengeful purposes. The third and final breath is the most painful and most powerful. When used, the dragon must be at an extremely high altitude. When they use this breath, it is an acid rain. Buring little bits of your skin at a time, as if torture. Dragons of Water Dragons of water are either dark sapphire blue, medium blue or sea-green. All water dragons see best in midday, when the light is just right to pierce the water. -River Dragons are rare, and are the smallest of all dragons. They are normally a medium, true blue color. River dragons use a waterfall effect. Their spray is more powerful than a fire hose and can tear the skin off anything in seconds. -Sea Dragons are those found in the oceans and seas, and are the second largest dragons, seeing as they have so much room to live. None of the dragons mentioned above can use their wings when underwater, where they live most of the time. They fight best underwater as well, but will come above water if necessary. The sea dragons use more of a mist that works in the same way as a dark dragon's acid breath. The only difference is it is water, but the sand and brine that consist in the water can rip a person to shreds. -Lake Dragons are those found in lakes and ponds. Their breath is a piercing water. It moves so swiftly that it turns as sharp as a knife and can pierce through skin and armor. They vary in size depending on what lake or pond they live in. -Finally, Sapphire and blue dragons, in the elvish language, are called Luin'loki, while sea-green are called Earc'loki. Dragons of Earth Dragons of earth consist of your copper, green and brown or gold dragons. -Copper Dragons are dragons that live in deserts. They can see perfectly in blinding light and can withstand all sorts of temperatures from freezing cold to scorching hot. This is because of the desert environment, which is ice cold during the night and sweltering during the day. They are only a bit smaller than sea dragons, since deserts go on forever without a bit of disturbance in the endless sand. -Green dragons are your forest dragons. They are the second smallest dragons, having to fit between the trees. They are very agile and long, to give them the ability to twist between the many trees they live among. These dragons, in truth, do not have a breath ability. Instead they control the plants around them with telepathy. Though all dragons have telepathy these are the only dragons that use it to control their element. -Brown or Gold Dragons are those that live underground. Their breath is not breath at all. Their structure is very different then most dragons. Like the water dragons, they keep their wings tucked close when not above ground. Instead of digging, they swallow the earth they move through. This earth is then stored in a special sack next to the stomach, that will harden the earth into shards, which are then shot from the mouth in attacks. They are typically sized dragons, and normally appear in empty plains or fields. Copper dragons are named Aira'loki, Brown or Gold are Mal'loki and Green are Calen'loki. Dragons of Fire Dragons of Fire will be crimson ruby red, orange, or yellow in color. There are only two species of fire dragons. Those that live near volcanic areas, or those that live deep in the center of the earth. -Crimson and Ruby Dragons are those that live in the volcanic areas. They breath fire and are only a bit larger than forest dragons. They rarely come out of their fiery homes, but will do so to defend their brethren in the war. They are very quick, and when one comes, you can expect many more to be close by, as they spread like fire when the come out. -Orange and Yellow Dragons are those that reside near the center of the earth. They keep to themselves, unless their brethren or home are threatened. In this case it is both. They do not breath fire, but spray lava. They are quick and can withstand the hottest of temperatures. Living at the center of the earth, they must have extremely thick hides to stay alive, and this they do. Almost nothing can pierce their skin. Their main weakness is ice. -Crimson dragons are called Agar'loki, Orange are called Kulu'loki, red are Carad'loki, and yellow are Mali'loki Mountain and Arctic Dragons The last of the dragons are the Mountain dragons. They are either gray, silver or light blue. -Light Blue Dragons are dragons of Ice. They are the typical dragon size and live in the arctic tundra. They are cold to the touch, for it's necessary to create their attack. First, they'll swallow large amounts of snow or water and store it in a sac specially created, much like the earth dragons. Then, when they are prepared to attack, they flash freeze the water and shoot it out like spears. They also breath an ice mist that has an effect on it's victims much like frostbite. -Gray Dragons are those of the mountains. They work much like Earth dragons, as in they eat the stone to create their shards of rock. There is a difference, though. In their "special sac" There are shards of an unbreakable substance that grind the stone into a powder. The powder is then reformed into shards with intense pressure and let loose as spears. This process takes much longer than the Earth Dragon process, but is much more powerful. These are also very average sized dragons, but are very, very strong and can lift and throw very large boulders. They have very strong eyes, as do the ice dragons, to be able to see in blizzards and snow drifts. -Silver or White Dragons Silver and White dragons are those that live in the higher areas of mountains. They have the abilities of both light blue and gray dragons, to be able to live in such harsh conditions. They can burrow into stone as well as survive under mounds of snow for long periods of time. They are very small. The size of forest dragons, and can cling to stone like lizards. -Light blue dragons are named Mene'loki, gray dragons are named Mit'loki, and Silver are Celeb'Loki Mixed Blood Mixed Blood Dragons can be mixed between any two species of dragon and will have the full abilities of both species. That does not mean they are any stronger, though. Mixed Bloods, or "b*****d Dragons" as humans like to call them, are normally a tad bit smaller and weaker than their parents. There are few Mixed Bloods, but they are becoming more common with the turn of ages.Elder Dragons Though there are many types of dragons, they were not always there. At the beginning of the world, only a few of the types of dragons were created to maintain the world they lived in. Those dragons were Dark, Brown or Gold, Copper, Silver and Yellow or Orange.
These dragons are the oldest and the strongest. They have infinite strength and wisdom, but there are very few of them left. These dragons are the Estanesse. The First-Born. They have a close bond with each other. A connection that will last for centuries. The first born are the ones who decided to go to war.AlliancesThe Army of Uruloki This is the Army aligned with the dragons. This army consists of all of the older creatures of the world. These creatures are: - biggrin ragons -:Elves -:Unicorns -:Treelings (Imagine them as Ents from LOTR, only more human-like when awake)) -:Anthros ((These are not your typical nekos or kitsunes. These are full body-fur. They have a human shape, as in they stand on two feet and have arms and legs, but their faces consist of both human and animal features. They typically have the ears of the creature they resemble, as well as the abilities, but have the feelings, stance and mind of a human.)) - razz egisi -:Gryphons -:Any other creatures of ancient timesThe Army of a New WorldThis is the army aligned with Humans. They consist of some of the newer, more gullible, or greedy creatures. Though there are fewer species in this army, many of them are much stronger, or smarter. -:Gnomes -:Ogres -:Trolls -:Humans -:Spirits -:Nymphs -:Elementals -:Corrupted Dragons

Characters NeededWe will be needing some "Pre-made" characters. These characters include a general and such titles for both armies, as well as a King and Queen for the humans, as well as someone to play Huine and her daughter. These profiles will be made with the same setup but will be placed above the code right under this message. These roles do not need to be immediately filled but it would be appreciated if they are filled quickly.Profiles
-:Username: [[I think this explains itself]] -:Character Name: [[also explains itself -:Age: [[Dragons can have an infinite age, since they only die from either disease or murder, though disease is rare. Elves also have very long life, though they can die from old age and other such natural causes. All other creatures, the age is up to you]] -:Species: [[If you are not going to be elf, Dragon, Human, or any of the other creatures listed, please ask me first. Nekos and Kitsunes are not allowed, as well as elementals. If you are creating your own creature that is alright too, but it must be of fantasy, and nothing like a devil or god.Nothing that can control another character's soul or body, like reapers or demons.]] -:Status: [[In this section, I would like you to place what position you hold in the battle.
These are the selections for if you are fighting in the war: General ((both armies)), Commander ((Both armies)), Small Battle Warriors, Large Battle Warriors, Front Line Warrior, Peace-Keeper ((Go to cities and towns and make sure everything is O.K. They give medicine to the weak or just show they care in some way.)), Healer, Caretaker, Mages ((Elves)), Inventors ((humans, create new weapons)), Traveling Warriors and Trackers.
These are the selections for neutral characters: Wanderer/traveler, healer ((For both armies...mainly for lost warriors)), Any job pertaining to towns, cities or developments, or any other "Job" you'd like to have.]] -:Appearance: [[I prefer realistic pictures, but some anime are allowed. If I do not approve of the picture I will tell you to find another. No avvie appearances or anything like that. Descriptions are encouraged if you can not find a suitable picture. Clothing in the pictures must match the time period, which, as stated before, is midevil. All Creatures, including Dragons may have a secondary appearance ((Human)) as a disguise. Be warned, some Dragons with a Secondary Appearance may be asked to infiltrate human areas as a spy.]] -:Powers/Weapons: [[Humans will not have a power, unless they are connected to a Creature Hatchling. This is because humans have very advanced weapons, and have no need for powers. Creature Hatchlings include live-born as well. The Creatures a human can be connected to any creature with some sort of power, though it is VERY rare. Elves can also be connected, but already have powers, so nothing will change for them. Dragons can only have one power, unless you are Silver. This power will be whatever is described in the info page. Anthros will have powers, but they are more of advanced speed and senses. I will tell you if other powers are acceptable according to the species.]] -:Personality/Biography: [[I believe this also explains itself. Please keep both subjects in the same section, but separate them by at least two spaces, so we know the difference. I would prefer a well developed, five-sentence paragraph for each.]] -:Other: [[This section is for anything that you feel is important, but don't have room for in the other sections.]] Accepted Profiles -:Username: ~.Forever Enchanted.~ -:Character Name: Melyanna Gilinder. To her closest friends she is known was Melly, Mel, or Anna. [[Translated, her name means Dear-gift Star-singer.]] -:Age: 119, appears 19 -:Species: Elf -:Status:: Small Battle Warrior/ Peace Keeper. -:Appearance: Standing at a good 5’6”, Melyanna is the proper height for an elf her age. She’s got an ageless face with high cheekbones that are softened by the gentle flow of her bangs around them and accented by the soft look in her eyes. Her hair is the color of an autumn leaf just beginning to change from yellow to red. It flows to her mid back and is always shining and beautiful. Her bangs flow to just below her cheek, and are always in her face. Her eyes are a deep, intoxicating emerald green, with thin “veins” of a very light, almost lime green flowing through them. She normally wears tight, form-fitting dresses for top agility. These clothes have a way of accenting her somewhat small but perfectly formed chest and slender waist. Her long elegant legs are normally decorated with a tight skirt, ripped from one of her dresses. When it’s time for her to settle down at home, though, she’ll change into a long gown typically known to elves. She can always be found with her white elven bow hung over her shoulder, as well as a quiver of arrows. And a small harp always hangs from a band of cloth around her waist. -:Powers/Weapons: Melyanna’s power is the Forest Manipulation. Or the power of Nature. She can speak to plants and animals, like most elves, and uses that gift to her advantage. She doesn’t really control the plants around her, but is a friend to all nature, and so asks them for “favors”. Her only weapon is a bow carved from a rare white wood known only to elves. There are elvish markings in the wood that glow when she uses her magic, or when danger is near, and enhance her aim. The arrows are made of a very thin, light wood that move quickly in the air, but are strong enough to pierce armor. -:Personality/Biography: Melyanna is a kind and caring soul, and loves all other creatures. Despite this, she has decided to join the Uruloki Army to fight alongside her father for the sake of peace. She loves nature, and when not in battle she can often be found in the forest with her dear friend Tauron. She is always willing to help a person in need…even a human. Though she often regrets it, as most will eventually turn on her. She is vegetarian, without a doubt, and refuses to even be around when meat is cooking. She adores animals, and has many ‘friends’ that will come to her aid if necessary. She’s very sensitive, though and cries often if she’s hurt emotionally. She doesn’t think much of pain, and will continue to fight long after most of her strength has been sapped. She’ll fight until the death if she feels it’s the right thing to do. She’s very determined and very persistent and won’t take no for an answer.
Melyanna was around for the start of the war, but was very young. Her father left to fight with the Dragons of the Wood, and her mother was left home with her three children. At the age of fifteen, Melyanna left to do her part in the battle. She did this sooner than she thought. On her journey, she found a lost egg, that was obviously trying to be saved from destruction or theft. She spoke with the forest around her, and discovered the mother. But when she was found, the mother allowed her to keep the hatchling as a gift of her appreciation. She named the young Forest Drake Tauron and has traveled with him ever since.
-:Username: ~.Forever Enchanted.~ -:Character Name: Tauron Belegone[[Translated his name means Forester Strong-heart]] -:Age: 104 -:Species: Tauron is a mix between brown and green dragons. -:Status: Small Battle Warrior/ Peace Keeper -:Appearance: Tauron has a brown body with green wings and accents. He is about three feet taller than an average bear and around ten feet long from head to the tip of his tail. He does in fact have a human appearance but the only one who knows of it is Melyanna, and he is only in that form when he is alone or scouting human lands. He's very strange for a human, but almost in a good way. He appears as if he is around 19. His eyes are still the dark golden yellow, like that of a dragon, and even include the slitted pupils. For this reason he can always be found under cover of a heavy, forest green cloak with a deep hood. When his hood is down, his skin tone is tanned, but not too dark. His facial features are sharp and princely, and the way he carries himself demands respect and admiration, as it would with a dragon. Even still, people can feel a very charismatic aura around him; an inviting, loving and warm feeling. He's very graceful on two feet, despite spending the majority of his time on four. His hair is a dark earthen brown with a shaggy, almost layered appearance, and hangs down just below his ears. He's not shockingly tall, but does stand a good inch above most average-height people. He's normally wearing brown, unimpressive clothes as not to stand out among others. He has a slender but muscular form. Despite the fact that he stays hidden most of the time along with his strange features, he still has an attractive appearance. [[..Dragon..]] -:Powers/Weapons: He has the abilities of both Mal'loki and Calen'loki, but masters in control of plants. -:Personality/Biography: Tauron is a strange dragon to be around. He's wise, as all dragons are, but doesn't always use that wisdom. He's very free-spirited when it comes to people he likes, and will often do things out of impulse rather than thought. He's every protective of those he loves, especially Melyanna. Though he is younger, the fact that he is stronger makes her his "little" sister. They are as close as brother and sister, and he will do anything for her.
Though Tauron was still in his egg at the time, he knew all of what was going on around him. When he was lost, the first thing he knew was Melyanna. He never knew his parents, but when they handed him over to Melly, the relationship had already begun. When he hatched, she was always looking out for him and taking care of him, but now it's his turn. As stated before, he does anything he can for her, and almost pampers her. He's still a bit childish, but that's only because he's still young for a dragon. Right now would be around adolescence for him, and so he's still figuring out how to be mature. He's very strong though, and very protective of Mel. Any time someone new comes into the picture, he's on them right at the beginning, sometimes even reading their minds if he really doesn't trust them. So now, it's just him and Mel, wandering the world and fighting the war.
-:Username: Kyttynjirr -:Character Name: Wenesse, nicknamed Wen by her closest friends. -:Age: 21 (will live to be maybe 250) -:Species: Cat-like creature, similar to anthros, but has thinner fur, and none on the face or palms of the hands. Cat-like creatures have a second, human form. They have 12 inch claws which they can unsheathe to whatever length they wish. -:Status: Small/large battle warrior/Tracker -:Appearance: Wen stands 5’5” tall. She slim, but she has curves. She has long, wavy red-gold hair, green eyes with gold flecks, and fair skin with light reddish-brown freckles. Her face is round. She wears three gold hoops in each ear and a ruby pendant on a gold chain around her neck. She wears fitted reddish-brown leather breeches and a fitted pale green top with a leather vest. She wears knee high leather boots that lace up on the side. She wears a belt that has a pouch attached to it. She also wears red, cloth, open fingered gloves. -:Powers/Weapons: Like all cat creatures/anthros, Wen has extremely keen senses and is very fast. She is light on her feet and rarely leaves footprints. She has the ability of Fire. She can create it and control it. Her weapons are her blood-red claws. -:Personality/Biography: Wenesse is gentle and compassionate when she wants to be, but if she’s angry, stay out of the way. If you hurt someone she cares about, you’re liable to get hurt back. She loves animals and children and hopes one day to get married and have children of her own. She is rather mysterious and only tells people about herself if she truly trusts them. Her trust can be hard to earn. She is a strong Christian. She’s extremely confident in herself and rather headstrong at times. This can be a problem, as she tends to rush into things before thinking about them. She enjoys art and singing very much.
Wenesse lives by herself in a small cottage in the forest. It’s rather hard to find, and she likes it that way. She only wants companionship when she wants it, and not before. Wenesse’s parents were killed in an accident when she was ten, and she had no siblings. She was raised by friends of the family. When she was old enough, they built her cottage for her and she moved there. She trained as a tracked and weapons-master, so she can use almost any weapon, but she uses her claws best. Wenesse joined the battle against the humans because one of her best friends is a dragon named Alkar. His rider, Wenesse’s other best friend, is an half-elf named Earendil.
-:Username: Kyttynjirr -:Character Name: Earendil -:Age:Half human, half Elf (half-Elf) -:Species: As he is only half Elf, Earendil will not live past 250. He is 22. -:Status: Small/large battle warrior/Healer -:Appearance: Earendil has rich blue eyes and medium-short white blond hair. He has a lock of hair that reaches to his waist, and he keeps it braided at all times. He wears forest green and brown any time he is on a mission, hunting, or fighting. When he is at home, he wears silver, pale blue, and white. He stands 5’9” tall and is lightly muscled. -:Powers/Weapons: Earendil has the powers of lightning and healing. He can create light as well as lightning, using a ball of lightning to light the way. He is a strong healer and has been trained by the greatest Elven healers alive. He uses a longbow made of a rare reddish wood which has gold filigree. He also has two long knives which he carries in his quiver. -:Personality/Biography: Earendil is the kind of person that likes companionship. He likes to be around people and enjoys having conversations. He has trained as a healer with the greatest Elven healers alive. He has trained for years with his bow and long knives to become the best fighter and archer that he can. He loves reading and commonly writes poetry.
Earendil’s parents are very wealthy, so he has always had the best of everything. That is not to say that he does not know what hard work is. He does; his parents made sure of it. He has two elder brothers; both have families of their own. He joined the Uruloki Army because he rides a dragon.
-:Username: Kyttynjirr -:Character Name: Alkar -:Age: 20 -:Species: Half Ruby Dragon, Half Gold Dragon -:Status: Small/large battle warrior -:Appearance: Very muscular, ruby with gold wings, eyes, and accents. -:Powers/Weapons: Flame; he is extremely intelligent and rather wise for his age. -:Personality/Biography: Alkar loves flying and breathing fire. He loves music and being read aloud to (as he is too big to hold a book). He is thoughtful, yet swift to act when it is required of him. He enjoys being around people at times, and other times he enjoys being alone.
Alkar and Earendil are oddly matched, as Alkar likes noise and Earendil prefers quiet. They are best friends. Earendil’s father received Alkar’s egg as a gift for saving another hatchling. He received with the command that he give the hatchling to his youngest son, Earendil. Of course, you don’t say no to a dragon. When Alkar hatched, he and 2 year old Earendil were presented to each other. They became best friends instantly. They are never apart.
-:Username: AtavisticDevilry -:Character Name: “Rhyme” -:Age: 74 -:Species: Half Silver dragon, Half River dragon -:Appearance: Rhyme’s dragon form is smaller even than that of most river dragons. He stands about as high as a horse, with his shoulders perhaps just a hint above the average horses. His wings are delicate-looking and thin, with long bones, light bones. The skin between them is very tough but almost translucent in the light.
Rhyme's inquisitive eyes are aquamarine and have a slit pupil, like a cat's. His hide is covered in very short, very fine slightly metallic light blue fur. The color is sort of an intermediate between medium blue and silver but with some subtle hints of other colors in there as well. Rhyme has a very thin, light frame, one well suited to both soaring and flexibility. His muscles are long and lean – he's not very bulky or very strong.
Two small, spiraled horns adorn Rhyme's head. They're fairly short at the moment as he's so young, but they'll lengthen with age. He had two smallish ears, rather reminiscent of those he has in his faun form, both covered in the same fine fur as the rest of his body. One is pierced through with a wooden bar.
There's a mottled patch of pure silver fur on the left side of Rhyme's face, going through his eye and running down towards his snout. His messy mane runs the length of his neck, and is a pure white. There are patches of similarly colored fur at his armpits and at the places where his hind legs meet his tail. Rhyme's tail is long, with a bony spike on the end for hunting fish. Just before the spike is a fin, used for directing movement underwater. There is a similar looking fin at Rhyme's jawline, indicating the location of his gills.
Each of his feet has three toes, one of which is backwards-facing. Rhyme walks on the tips of the forward-facing ones, each of which have small, short claws. The backwards-facing toe has a very long, needle-sharp claw at the tip. This claw is mostly for hunting fish and birds, and never touches the ground to keep it sharp.
Rhyme’s second form isn’t a human form, but a Satyr form. See his history for an explanation. -:Powers/Weapons: Rhyme has three kinds of breath weapon, one from each of his parent species. From the River dragon he gets an extremely pressured jet of water. From the Silver dragon Rhyme gets the ability to flash freeze this jet into shards of ice, as well as to breathe out a freezing mist. Lastly, he can eat rocks and earth to shoot out stone spears, though the process of creating these spears is fairly long. -:Personality/Biography: Rhyme is very young for a dragon, though he's already fully grown. His personality matches his age, not his size. Rhyme's inquisitive, somewhat dashing, happy and, on occasion, fiery. He's passionate, full of youthful energy and more than willing to spend it on the causes he believes in. Rhyme can be a little bit judgmental and has a tendency to put things in black and white terms, but what teenager doesn't?
For all his youth, though, Rhyme is highly intelligent. Poetry and song are his specialties, as one might guess from his name, and literature and music fascinate him deeply. Rhyme has a tremendous respect for Satyrs and Elves for just this reason. It also helps that both species know how to have a good party, though Rhyme prefers the Satyr revels to the Elven ones at this point in his life.
Rhyme can certainly be moody and unpredictable from time to time, but that's another side-effect of youth. He's usually fairly reliable and he prides himself on his honesty and integrity. Rhyme hates to lie – it's part of his philosophy in life. Rhyme's very intelligent and can think things through well. It's his emotion and passion that gets in the way of reason, and get in the way it does.
Rhyme's youthful lightheartedness covers up the wrath and worry he feels for his sister, Ree. Rhyme flat out hates the humans and is more than willing to go out of his way to kill them because of her capture. If anything were to get his blood boiling, it would be the topic of Reason. As such, it's something best left to lie. Rhyme thinks about it enough as it is – it's clear in his poetry, should anyone ever look.
~~
Rhyme is a bit unusual for a halfbreed in that his parents were not a River dragon and a Silver dragon. Both of his parents were also half and half, as were theirs. Rhyme grew up in an unusual area in that it was both at a high altitude and watery, which led to the interbreeding between Silver and River dragons. The halfbreed population in Rhyme’s area built over time until there was a small community of Silver/River mixes in the area.
Rhyme's childhood was simple and enjoyable. There were several dragonlets around his age as well as his twin sister Ree (short for Reason), so Rhyme was never lacking company. There was also a Satyr community nearby, which provided for even more fun as soon as Rhyme and Reason were old enough to be able to change their forms. Since Satyrs were the closest humanoids, it was the forms of Satyrs that they assumed. They even befriended some of the fauns (Satyr is the name of the race, faun the word for a member of the race. Think human vs. person) there.
The community Rhyme grew up in was a surprisingly social one, for dragons. All the dragonlets were taught by two older dragons who acted as teachers, community gatherings were frequent and there was even a sort of "family room" for all the dragons around. Perhaps it was their size that made it possible, but Rhyme grew up accustomed to a close community.
The most notable event in Rhyme's history was the sudden capture of his sister, Ree. She went out hunting one day, a task she and Rhyme usually did together, and then never came back. Ree had run into a group of dragon catchers and her small size had made her a fairly easy target for them. Rhyme hasn't seen her since then, and it was that event, far more than the theft of Huine's egg, that brought Rhyme up in arms against the humans.
It has been about 10 years since Ree's capture, as hers was one of the first instances of dragon enslavement. It's been far less time since Huine's egg was stolen, but to Rhyme, the war took far too long to start. In a way, he resents Huine's hatchling – the entire dragon community was up in arms over it, but Ree had gone entirely overlooked. Still, at least they're fighting back now. Rhyme entered into the Army of Uruloki gladly, and he can't wait until they beat the humans down. -:Other: Rhyme doesn't like to eat rocks, actually, so it's rare that he has that breath weapon available to him. His pan pipes are his most treasured possession, as they were given to him by Ree. Rhyme's true name is kept secret, as is the tradition in his homeland. Suffice to say it all rhymes, thus his nickname. Reason's nickname was derived from Rhyme's nickname, as one of the other dragons in the community commented that if they were going to have Rhyme they would need some Reason to balance things out. Rhyme absolutely loves his faun form, mostly because then he can play the pipes his sister gave him, write, sing and do a multitude of other fun, dexterity based things. Rhyme is enlisted in the Army as, primarily, a messenger. The generals didn't want one so young to be on the battlefield proper, but Rhyme refused to leave until they gave him some job.

K i S s ME where the petals ::FALL:: like snow With knees bent and hands in the water, Melyanna took a deep breath, washing off one of her wounds. The gash was deep, and the blood ran down her arm swiftly. She winced at the touch of her own hand, even with the cool water from the river. She took a deep breath and looked at the cut. She could see the veins in her arm begin to turn purple, and the skin around the wound seemed burnt. "Poison." She hissed to the water. She stood slowly, as to not to spread it any quicker. She wasn't sure when the wound had occurred, as the battle had been such a long one, but she her whole arm was numb. She stepped into the crisp flow of the river, just as slowly as she stood, and bent down so the water was covering her bare chest. She watched as the blood flowed down the river, shaking her head.
"Tauron. Come here a moment. And please bring me my pouch. You know the one. With all the medicine."
The dragon looked up from gnawing on a very large fallen branch. Sure, he was a smaller species of Dragon but that didn't mean he wasn't big. His body was wrapped around the trunk of the tree it had fallen from, and he seemed to be licking the bugs and fungus from the dead plant. He tilted his head after hearing her voice.
"What's the problem, Melly? What do you need?"
"One of the Human weapons was poisoned. It's gotten into my blood. I need a sprig of Gryphon's Tear."
"I see. Is it really that Serious?"
"Yes. It's already spread through my arm." She said as she winced again. The water had picked up speed with the breeze for a moment. The dragon unwound himself from the tree and grabbed the pouch on a single tooth. As he brought it over he looked at his long-time friend with worry.
"Will you be alright?"
Melyanna smiled softly and nodded. "I'll be fine, my friend. It will just take a little while." She pulled out a leaf of the Gryphon Tear and placed it in her mouth, chewing gently and spitting out the juice from time to time. It wasn't poison, but it would give you a nasty stomach ache. She sighed as it started to take effect, and her arm regained feeling. "Wonderful..." She laid her head back on the bank and stroked the Dragon's snout.

WEN Wenesse sat in her cottage, stuffing the items she would need into a pack. She was going off to join the Uruloki in the fight against the humans and their allies. “If it were up to me,” Wenesse muttered. “A couple of people would sneak in and steal that dragon egg back.” She sighed. “But it’s not up to me. I just hate following orders, especially if I know they’re foolish. I wonder if there will be any more of my kind there? But I doubt it. Most of my kind aren’t really interested in this war.” Wenesse sighed again. She stood, grabbed her long coat, and slung her pack up onto her shoulders. She looked around her, silently saying goodbye to the cottage and each item inside it. Wen wondered whether she’d return, or if— No! She wouldn’t think it. She refused to. She would return, and that’s all there was to it, and maybe, just maybe, her dreams would come true…. But there would be time to think of those later. Right now, Wenesse needed to get to the glade where she was supposed to meet Earendil and Alkar. They had better not be late, Wenesse thought. EARENDIL AND ALKAR Alkar was soaring high above the clouds, going as fast as he wanted to. He wanted to go faster, higher! Who knew when he would be allowed to fly like this again, freely and happily? Alkar sped up and began to fly at an upwards incline. Suddenly a voice broke in on his joyful flight. “Alkar,” Earendil, Alkar’s best friend and rider, said. “We’re supposed to meet Wen in the glade at half past seven, and if you don’t start heading down now, we’ll be late. And you know how she hates it when we’re late.” Alkar frowned. Yes, he did know how Wenesse hated late arrivals. The last time and Earendil he had been late, Wen had glared at them for a full five minutes, and a cat-like creature’s glare is nothing to sniff at. Wen’s glare in particular was cold enough to send shivers up and down even a dragon’s spine, which was saying quite a bit. The shivers felt a lot like little spiders with sharp feet crawling up and down one’s back. Alkar remembered with no little enduring that for five very long minutes. Of course, Wen also had a hot glare, but Alkar was not about to attempt to remember experiencing that. He wanted to get to the glade so that Earendil and he did not have to endure any of Wenesse’s glares. “Hang on!” Alkar said to his rider. Without warning, Alkar flipped his tail like a rudder, which caused him to go into a full nose-dive. He clapped his wings to his sides, and he and Earendil plummeted towards the earth. Alkar could just barely hear Earendil saying something about being flattened on impact. Alkar ignored him. He had just had an idea…. WEN, ALKAR, AND EARENDIL Wenesse was about to enter the glade. She paused to listen. She heard no talking, no dragon noises, no footsteps, nothing. Nothing but the regular forest noises. “Late again, eh boys?” Wen mused softly. Wenesse could not stand it when people were late. She did not really know why, it just irked her to no end when people did not arrive early or on time. Wenesse sighed, more in disappointment than anger. Alkar and Earendil had promised that they would not be late this time. She had really expected her dearest friends to keep that promise. She shook her head slowly and pushed her way through the overgrowth and into the glade. “SURPRISE!!” someone shouted. Wenesse must have jumped five feet. In the split second she was hanging in mid-air, she shrugged off her pack and long coat and unsheathed six deadly inches of her blood-red claws. Wenesse landed in a fighter’s stance: knees slightly bent; back straight; shoulders back and down; one arm above her head, claws toward her attacker; and her other arm in front of her chest, claws pointed in the opposite direction. Wen’s “attackers” watched all of this in utter silence and surprise, studying her in the split second before she really recognized who they were. Her long, red gold hair was pulled up into a tight, braided bun. Her green eyes, which had gold flecks, were round with surprise. Wenesse suddenly realized who was standing before her. She dropped her defenses in further surprise. “You!” she practically shrieked. “Guilty as charged!” Alkar bowed his head in a gentlemanly fashion. “Not guilty as charged.” Earendil shook his head. “Alkar didn’t even tell me he was going to do this, or I would have tried to talk him out of it. Not that I would have succeeded.” He looked up at his dragon friend. “All he told me was that he wanted to get here early so that he could prove he was capable of it.” Wenesse pursed her lips. “Well, I appreciate you arriving early, but I do not appreciate you trying to scare me. You’re lucky I didn’t attack you!” “Aw, we could have taken you.” Alkar teased. “Alkar, you’re just in too playful a mood today.” Earendil chided the massive animal gently. Turning to Wenesse, he said, “You know what else this joker did? I told that if we didn’t want be late, he should head for the glade right then. Well, he did exactly that. Only he went straight down to the glade. He went into an all out, head first dive! It was all I could do to stay on him.” Wenesse smiled softly at Earendil. “Oh, you survived. Besides, I’m sure Alkar wouldn’t have killed you intentionally!” Earendil shook his head, but he smiled back. “Thanks a lot, Wen.” Wen grinned at him. “You’re welcome, Earendil. Now let’s go. We’ve got an army to catch!” Earendil mounted Alkar first. He reached down his hand for Wen’s. Taking it, he pulled her up behind him. Wen got comfortable, and then wrapped her arms loosely around Earendil’s waist. She did not want to fall off. “Ready? Alkar asked them. Earendil twisted his head around to look at Wenesse. She nodded to him, and Earendil turned back around. He replied to Alkar, “Ready. Let’s go!” “Alright! Hang on back there!” Alkar trumpeted, but not loudly enough to hurt his friends’ ears. Rearing onto his hind legs, Alkar leaped and pumped his huge wings. Wen tightened her grip on Earendil’s waist. He could not help thinking how warm she was. He dismissed the thought quickly, though. She’s your friend and nothing more, Earendil reprimanded himself sharply. Of course, this was not the first time Wenesse had rode behind, nor was it the first time that thought had occurred. Wen, for her part, had noticed how close they were and promptly started admiring the view. She would never tell Earendil whether or not she loved him unless he told her first… or unless the circumstances were drastic. She hoped they never would be. “How far are we from the Uruloki Army’s location?” Wen said in Earendil’s ear. “Several miles. Don’t worry, with Alkar’s speed, it won’t take us more than an hour and a half to get there.” Earendil replied. “Okay, thanks.” Wen went back to admiring the scenery below them.

K i S s ME where the petals ::FALL:: like snow Melyanna sighed as she finally washed the dried blood from her arm. The wound had almost fully healed now. The fact that she was an elf sped that along. As she continued to stroke and scratch Tauron's nose, the great dragon began to purr. The sound was more of a quiet roar though, due to his size. As the breeze began to pick up, Melly smiled, sitting up in the water.
She pulled the bag a bit closer, the feeling in her arm to full normality now. The juice in the Gryphon's tear contained a chemical that destroyed poison. It was harsh, but Elves were immune, so she was fine. She reached into the bag and pulled out a few flowers, and an elven soap. Though elves hated the humans, over the years they had pulled a few ideas from them. The creation she was building was that of shampoo. The battle she was previously in, though small, was very long and tiring, and a good bath was all she needed to recover her strength.
After mixing the ingredients, she began washing her hair, the sweet scent of Lilac and Peach Blossom filling the air all around. In response, even Tauron closed his eyes and took a deep breath of the smell. It was a strange combination, but one Mel just adored.
She finally rinsed the last of the homemade shampoo with the river's current and sat up. She squeezed the excess water from her hair and stood. Not even bothering to dress she stepped from the river and knelt down. Being elf, she had no shame of her body, and was actually somewhat proud of her slender form and gentle curves. She placed her hand to the ground and with a little concentration, grew a large bush filled with all different types of berries. While eating, she turned to her dragon friend.
"Tauron, would you like to hear a song?"
The Dragon raised his head and looked at her inquisitively. "What song do you desire to sing, Mel?"
"Well, I don't know. I was thinking of that old lullaby my mother used to sing to help me sleep. Would you like that?"
The Dragon smiled and nodded, laying his head back down. "Yes, very much. I could use a little nap right about now."
Melyanna smiled and took a breath. Beginning to sing. The song was sweet and soft, quiet and soothing. As she sang, even the trees and animals began to pick up on the mood. The forest quieted, and the wind began to slow to a soft breeze. The mood of the song spread through the area quickly. A gift of communication all Forest Elves possessed.

Rhyme pounded the ground with his hooves as ran. He wasn't carrying at the moment as he'd just delivered news of a small victory, but running was fun! Besides, if he kept active he would stay in good shape - a must for any decent messenger. Rhyme was hell-bent on becoming a decent messenger, too - because from there he could become a warrior.
The dragon, still a faun at the moment, paused as he came to a river. A smile spread across Rhyme's face - he did have such a soft spot for rivers, after all. A little dip would do me good! he thought, not bothering to even pause before diving into the river with a whoop of joy. Rhyme paddled around for a few minutes before finally stilling himself and leaning against a rock to just enjoy the running water.
It was only after he'd calmed that his sensitive Satyr ears picked up the sounds of song from downstream. A sweet song, soothing... Rhyme loved it immediately. He looked in the direction the water was flowing, wondering who was singing such a thing. Just from the quality of voice, Rhyme was sure it wasn't a human. Possibly a Satyr, or an Elf... Maybe even a dragon. Rhyme's draconic singing voice wasn't so great for worded songs, but he'd heard some beautiful draconic singers in his time.
Whatever the thing was, Rhyme was going to have to meet them. He rose from the river, then made his way to the bank. Sure, he could burst out of the river in full dragon form and terrify them, or swoop down from the sky for much the same effect... But he could also walk there as a faun and assess the being there before showing himself. Rhyme could be sure that the damn humans had some beautiful singers on their side as well.
Rhyme picked his way through the forest, moving pretty quietly. The way his hooves fell, he sounded just like a deer - nothing more. That was one of the things Rhyme had come to appreciate about this form - it was so at home in the forest.
Aquamarine eyes peered through the trees at the scene of an elf and a dragon. Rhyme could safely assume they were allied with the dragons, given that, but for the moment he was rather fascinated with the elven girl's body and voice. Not only was she beautiful, but she sang very nicely in Rhyme's humble opinion. It was a song he.... recognised....
Moving as if in a dream, Rhyme reached down to where his pipes hung from his belt and brought them up to his lips. He knew this tune - Ree had taught it to him many years ago. Rhyme waited for a break in the song, a place he could pick up the tune, then inhaled and added the haunting sound of pan pipes to the elf's song.

K i S s ME where the petals ::FALL:: like snow Melyanna sat on the bank with her legs crossed now. The dry strands of hair moved softly in the wind, a few of them crossing her face. She didn't move them though. They didn't bother her, and her song continued with a beauty.
Tauron was the first to notice the new sound as he was already slightly tensed. He had heard the footsteps first and seeing no humans around had assumed that it was a deer or elk. As the sound of the pipes began, he knew he had been wrong. He lifted his head slowly, cautiously, knowing of the swiftness of human weapons. He had quite a few scars to prove that.
Mel was different though. Always trusting, she heard the pipes but continued to sing, only a bit louder. She was young for an elf, but had been around quite long enough to know that if it were human, she would be dead by now. Her elven ears picked up exactly where the sound was coming from, but she chose not to look, acting as if she could not hear. Though, it was obvious she could, as a smile spread slowly across her face. The sound of the pipes was truly beautiful. The only problem...she considered this a game. She liked games.
Her mood slowly began to rise, and so did the tempo of her song as it soon shifted to a new song entirely, but toward the end, she could not help but laugh. The sound was almost as beautiful as the song had been. It was as warm and loving as a summer breeze, but as soft and joyful as the first snow of the winter. Elven laughs were always beautiful. It was the way of the elf to be filled with grace and beauty.
Tauron, though, was not so amused. He turned to Melyanna, and with his mind, simply told her to dress herself. Her laughter stopped, and she stared at him a moment, confusion in her strange emerald eyes. Tauron stood then, and turned to the satyr, his mind set only on protecting his best friend. The only thing that kept him from attacking was the sense that something was different about this faun. Something he couldn't understand.

A smile tugged at Rhyme's face when the elven girl changed her song. She was playing with him! Well, I know how to play too, the dragon thought, changing his song not only to match hers, but then to pull off ahead a little bit in his own direction. Rhyme never lost the beat or the mood of the song, but he would certainly tease back, if that was what she wanted.
At the end of their duet, the elf broke into laughter. Rhyme finished the song but found the sound contagious, and soon he was laughing too. The dragon put his pipes back onto his belt, smiling. Rhyme stood, planning on walking out to the girl, but paused when her laughter cut off abruptly. He cocked his head to the side, wondering what it was that had stopped the beautiful sound. Rhyme lifted one Satyr ear as he observed.
The dragon, one that looked like a mix of green and brown, stood and stared him down. Rhyme didn't let it bother him, though - he just looked right back, his own aquamarine eyes staring into the other dragon's. Rhyme wasn't afraid, really, though - first off, he was sure they were on the same side as he was, and secondly the other dragon didn't look too much older than he. Not that age mattered much, but it did - a little bit.
Rhyme felt a stab of jealousy when he noticed the other dragon's scars. He walked forward to get a better look at them, then sighed. "I wish they would let me on the battlefield," Rhyme commented, tracing a spot on his own arm where the green/brown mix had a scar. His voice was youthful, musical and somewhat playful - in other words, a decent description of Rhyme himself. He looked over at the elf then, and smiled. "Hey. I'm Rhyme," the dragon said by way of introduction.

K i S s ME where the petals ::FALL:: like snow Melly bowed gracefully in the elven manor and stood gently, a smile back on her face. "My name is Melyanna, but most prefer to call me Mel, or Melly."
Tauron let out a breath as he saw he was once again defeated by Mel's friendly nature. It happened every time. As the satyr spoke of the war, he sighed and shook his head, interrupting their introductions. "You don't want to be a part of it. Really. I'm not proud of these scars." He sighed again and looked once more at Rhyme. "If you'd like to join us you can. We are part of the small battles section. You don't really need permission for that. We fight more on the defensive...coming out when one of our own is ambushed. We also travel to villages to keep the peace and to settle nerves."
Melyanna tilted her head and stepped forward, interrupting Tauron, as he had done with them. They did that to each other quite often. It was something that happened when you spent over 100 years together. "Why won't they let you fight? We can use all the help we can get after all. I hear the dragons are on the losing side." Her last words were said with a tone of sadness, but she didn't let it show on her face. Instead, she just waited for his reply.

Rhyme chuckled and bowed back, though his bow was more spritely than graceful. But hey, if you couldn't manage graceful, be cute. Rhyme could do that most days, especially in his Satyr form. "Pleased to meet you, Mel," the "faun" replied, still grinning happily. He rose from his bow, then brushed a stray lock of hair from his face. It wasn't so much a necessary motion as one that seemed to flow from his rising.
I wonder why he's sighing, Rhyme thought, looking up to the dragon. When he commented on the war, though, Rhyme's eyes grew hard. Those eyes looked out of place on one with such a youthful appearance, though there was no questioning their authenticity. "No... I do," the young dragon said quietly, though his gaze remained unwavering. When the older dragon mentioned an alternative way to fight, Rhyme's heart skipped a beat. So there was a way... he thought, his eyes narrowing slightly as he thought of how the recruiter had lied to him.
Melly interrupted them before Rhyme could ask anything else, though. Rhyme had to smile at the way the pair treated eachother. The smile made the hardness in his eyes dissolve as though it had never been. "They told me I was too young, but I wouldn't leave until they gave me something to do. So I'm a messenger - for now," the dragon said pleasantly, choosing to disregard the comment about them being on the loosing side. They would not lose. Rhyme was determined of that.
Such dour thoughts were no good for a first meeting, though. Rhyme pushed them out of his mind for the moment. He would rather worry about making a friend - especially one so beautiful as Mel - than worry over the war, if only for a few minutes. The war had been such a part of Rhyme's life for the past 10 years, though the war had only started recently. That, perhaps, made Rhyme the first fighter in it...
"What was it you were singing before?" Rhyme asked before quickly amending with, "Not the first song, but the second." The dragon let out a little chuckle at the end, then reached up to put his hands behind his head. It was a comfortable position, mostly, but Rhyme knew there was a little piece of him that was also showing off - not that he would admit it. Besides, the comfort came first anyway.

WEN, EARENDIL, AND ALKAR “Let’s take a little break,” Alkar said to his passengers. They had been flying for about an hour, and were about two-thirds of the way to the Uruloki encampment. “See that river down there?” Earendil asked Alkar, who nodded. “let’s land beside it.” Alkar nodded again and swooped gently down toward the river. He landed softly, barely making any noise on the leaf-covered forest floor. Earendil dismounted first, then reached up to help Wenesse down. She, however, jumped off of Alkar and landed lightly on her feet. Earendil smiled but said nothing. “We can stay here for a while, if you want,” Alkar said to his friends. “After all, we’re not in any real hurry.” Earendil settled down against Alkar, who was laying beside the slow-moving river, lazily dabbling his tail in the water. Alkar’s eyes were half-closed, as though he was listening to some hypnotic tune. Suddenly he opened his eyes and looked at his half-elf friend. “Earendil, play my favorite song, please.” Alkar requested. Earendil nodded, took out a piccolo, and began to play a sweet, haunting melody. Alkar sighed deeply and relaxed his eyelids once more. Earendil’s fingers moved deftly over the piccolo’s shaft, never faltering. His eyes were also closed. He loved this tune as much as Alkar. Wen looked at the two of them, one resting against the other, and sighed softly. She padded softly over and lowered herself gracefully to the ground beside Earendil. Wen listened carefully to the piccolo’s voice, and, picking up the refrain, began to sing along in harmony. The whole forest seemed to be still, as though hushed in awe at the beauty of Earendil and Wenesse’s music. Even the birds were quiet. The sun seemed to smile gently down through the trees upon the exquisite scene. Gentle breezes played with Earendil’s and Wenesse’s hair and Alkar’s ear tufts, seemingly in time to the lilting music. Alkar sighed and laid his head down beside Wenesse. As she stroked his muzzle, he thought to himself that there was nothing better than this. This was true, pure joy.
