Rebel Girl ... i have a question for y''all. what are the girls'' ambitions like where you are? the people i hang out with have a definite plan for their lives, but most of the girls here don''t have many plans beyond getting married, raising children, maybe being a teacher. I honestly don''t know how to answer this question because i hang out with such weird people i don''t think any of them really have a normal list of things they wanna do when they grow up or whatever. um.. most of us want to go to college, makes some money, and move out to the country somewhere where we can make art and raise animals.

We aren't your usual people, so we want to get into something with art and move to some foreign country like taly or england.

I have a lot of hopes and dreams. I do want to go to college and study International Politics and Economics and Middle Eastern Studies w/Arabic. I hope to go into the foriegn service, but if I am not accepted, knowing Arabic and the customs should land me a comfy job in international business. However, my reason for wanting to work in the middle east is not for the money. In the recent war against terrorism whole countries have been destroyed and rebuilt. I want to observe and live the rebuiling proces. Also the area is known as the cradle of civilization and I love history. Other goals include becoming the secretary of state and owning a camel.

I don't really know what to say about this question because nobody knows what the future would be like. I mean.. I want to do some things in my life before I die, but I accepted the fact that it might not even happen. Some people who don't even have a clue what they would want to do could be so successful in the future. My friends and I don't really have a definite plan, but we do have a basic plan. For the rest, we'll just let fate decide what will happen I guess.

I want to go to college, major in business, and possibly open my own chocolate shop. If that doesn't work: Go to college, major in business, and work in a cubicle on computers.

wow, everyone here seems to have such developed ambitions. i always hear about the girls who supposedly want nothing more than to marry their high school sweetheart and have a shitload of kids; where are these girls?
well, i can think of one example. i have a friend named chelsea and she has an e-boyfriend. she's 14 and a rising freshman in alabama; he's 17 and just graduated high school in new york. she wants nothing more than to be with him. in fact, he came down to visit this weekend [it's their first time to meet in person; they were introduced by a mutual friend]. right now they're off having sex in his hotel room, and i'm supposed to be covering for her. he wants her to go back to new york with him. apparently you can get married at 14 in new york [?]. he's going to be a garbage man to support their children. and the sad thing is, she's seriously considering this plan.

love (or what people think is love) can do crazy things to people. being with that guy might give your friend a big sense of security that she can't really find anywhere else, rebel girl. not to say that quitting highschool to marry a 17 year-old garbage man isn't a really stupid decision... cuz it kinda is. does she know what the rent is like in new york??? plus, you just know this guy is gonna wreak... at least try and convince her to hold of running off with him until she gets her highschool diploma.

I would do something about it, because she is going to ******** up her life sooo bad. I did stupid s**t like that when I was the same age, but I never went as far as to abandoning my family for the guy I thought I loved. But he was the worst person in the world to me, he treated my like dirt, and even cheated on me god knows how many times. And even if this guy isn't scum, he still won't be able to support her or any kids they have. Plus having kids so young isn't healthy for her or the kid. And she'll be in for a rude awakening when she realizes she can't have the things she was used to because everything will be going towards rent and kids and food. She'll have nothing. Plus she'll have no social life, that kinda ends when you have a kid, especially if you can't afford everything a child needs. She'll never have it easy because she'll never be able to get a decent job because she won't be able to finish school (at least not easily) and getting a good well paying job is hard with just a high school diploma. It'd be really selfish and greedy if she does this s**t too, if she gives a damn about her friends and family, at least. Tell her parents or someone who can stop this s**t before she does more stupid s**t. If he really cares about her, he'll realize she needs to finish school, and he needs to get either a decent job (not a garbage man) or go to a community college to get some training or a degree in something. If he really loves her, he'll wait for her.

believe me, i'm as disgusted by the entire thing as y'all are. i can't talk her out of it, so i feel that i should at least stick by her.

I'm lucky even if I mess up my life I have hippies to run away to, not as though I'm planning to do that exactly. I want to be an under water welder, it pays super freakin high and I couldn't possibly care less that its very dangerous and life threatening.

funny that you said the last line. i totally agree, but in his words: "two people who are in love can''t wait". except there was a lot more chatspeak.
