It is the era of development and colonization in the United States of America. Manifest Destiny has taken effect after the US Civil War and now many people have unwittingly gotten themselves caught up in one of the finest hours of their nation's history. People of many different ethnicities and nationalities have begun to flock west to start a new life: Blacks, Irish, Chinese, Indians and many former easterners are all coming together on the mighty frontier. Though it is a vision which supposedly will bring with it a new life and a new chance at a fortune, the frontier is also a deathly dangerous place. Cowboys and Indians fight each other day by day to survive and get revenge for yesterdays wrongs, greedy railroad bosses influence politics to get more money and bandits who just don't give a hoot rob banks and trains to get their cathouse funds. There are a few men who are truly goodhearted and level-headed, but that is all about to change.

Rough Ridin' Narrator: Sahara City, Nevada. 1880

The people have long lived in harmony, the town operating as a lucritive trade point for cows and other livestock to people out on the frontier. But a storm is brewin' and a'fixin to boil over. Them railroad bosses have finally got their old behinds into gear to build a rail station through the town. So now at least we don't need horses and mules to do our deliverin'. But with them trains has come a rotten buncha varmints with scars n' scalping knives, fixin' to overtake our fair little city and intimidate us off our own land. Methinks that them railroad bosses are in charge of this operation and they just want a hefty chunk of change off of the grazin' land roundabouts here. If they get this land, we'll get the shaft and the Injuns'll get us! We gots to do something about this, this land don't belong to those yellow-bellied bastards! It belongs to us!! All we need is some decent bounty hunters n' lawmen, that oughta send 'em packin' right good!

But some way, I think that this isn't just 'bout grazin' land. Like the Lord has somethin' bigger staked out for us here than some land dispute.

('nuther box still coming!)

CHARACTER LIST

When someone claims a spot, I'll put their name in above the name on this list. MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL OF THIS!

Citizens of Sahara City:
Include but are not limited to

Mill Johnson- A mild-mannered General Store owner. Normally keeps to his daily routine of tending the store, but since the recent events has begun to worry about the safety of his store and his family.

Mary Jane Johnson- Wife to General Store owner Mill. A loving woman and the kindest you would ever meet, even to total strangers. She believes that things can always be resolved without conflict, but when it comes to blows she usually knows which side to pick.

Reverend Joseph- The spiritual advisor and personal friend of almost everyone in Sahara City, he knows the town like the back of his hand. Even though it is already very small. He detests bloodshed and prays constantly to be rid of the bandits so that he may resume preaching gospel in peace.

'ol Doc Grisham- The town doctor. A widower and a former Confederate cavalry soldier, the good doctor lives in penance of his past by helping the good colonists survive. Mending their bones and wrapping their wounds, his work is only done in the evening when he takes five for a nice hand-rolled smoke.

Sherrif Patrick O'Henry- An Irish immigrant from NYC, O'Henry came to Sahara to keep the peace and earn a few bucks doing it. He has a good heart, but the intimidation he gets from the bosses and bandits has turned him to the bottle.

Jenny Gin Jameson- The tough-talking fiery redhead prostitute who operates out of the town's cathouse and saloon. She is definitely not a gentle woman during work hours and knows explicitly how to wield and shoot a shotgun and how to fight with a bowie knife she keeps in her garter. Still, she has a lot of spirit and wishes one day to be seen as a woman worth loving, not one worth paying.

Bad Guys:
Unlike the citizens, the main bad guys ARE limited to

John D. Jethro- The facially battle-scarred railroad boss building rail lines through the town. Not much is known of his past, but he is definitely one greedy son-of-a-gun who will do anything for a fistful of dollars. But word is lately, he's been aiming a little higher. Trying to pick up on something worth more than any currency could ever amount to, rumor has it...

"Blood n' Teeth" Clay- The leader of the posse of bad guys who were hired by Jethro to overthrow the order in Sahara and snatch the land. He is known as an extremely violent man with a stomach for the most horrid things imaginible, including his favorite passtime, scalping.

Note: Whoever takes the role of a main bad guy has the command of that bad guy's underlings, but only Clay is allowed to terrorize the town with his men. Jethro can only use his men to defend himself and that shouldn't have to happen until the townsfolk have probable cause!

And finally, the Good Guys:
The good guy slots should be filled before any custom good guys decide to come in.

Sonny_F
Jedidiah Smith- A rough-riding, fast-talking desperado with a Peacemaker on his hip and heart of gold in his chest. He's been making eyes at Jenny lately, but might not be making any passes at her anytime soon for two reasons. One, the most of what he's seen is her tough-a** nature on the job. Two, O'Henry imprisoned him for a couple days for public drunkenness and disturbing the peace. At the moment, he's in his cell. But hey, who knows?

Rides Horse Bravely- A local Indian warrior, sent to dispatch the white man Jethro who seeks to impede upon his tribe's sacred land, by any means neccessary. He believes guns are weak and dishonorable and uses a bow and tomahawk.

Generic Rules:

1. When you pick a character, post it in the RP so I can take it down.

2. In this game I need people who are devoted to the RPs they join and can keep to the character they pick. Make sure you pick wisely because once you got a character, you got him or her for life.

3. Pick the one you think you can do best.

4. And also as a rule of thumb, try picking out a pre-made character rather than making your own.

5. Oh, and also, there's bound to be some fighting in this game and lots of pain. If you get swung at, then take it like a man! The real Westerners did!

6. And one final thing, don't over-do your character's strength! The West was won by tremendous strife and none of it happened with one fell swoop!
