Karana'Mzaana padded through the underbrush of the jungle, the canopy high overhead, she huffed to herself, lost again in the mass of green, even greener then some prideland was that she came across not too long ago. Stupid vines, they caught on her tail as she tried to step over the enlarged exposed roots, though it wasn't working well.
She still didn't know where she was going, what she trying to find or get to.
Life was confusing.
Continuing along she paid no mind to the strange creatures that hissed and squawked at her as she went on her way, her silver eyes were narrowed, her features showed that she was annoyed, by what, she didn't even know.

On a thick branch not far from the ground, a pale figure stood poised. Like a white diety drenched in blood, she stared wide-eyed up at the canopy, but she seemed to be looking beyond reality. Her voice, when it came, was dreamy and sing-song, laced heavily with her madness.
"Bones, bones.... blood and bones. The little birdy cries! Sweep it away, tuck it away, and bring it back in the morning..." She sang to herself as she stared at nothing, eyes as wide open as they could go. The motions of her mouth pulled her lips from her teeth, and if one looked close, they'd catch a hint of extended fangs, fangs far longer than was usual for a lion.
"Double back, turn around, you must not tarry here... The dusk is falling, the night is calling, and her children have come out to play!" Her voice broke off and rose into a terrible shriek of pain and loss, and the thin body went into spasms. The lioness doubled over as her shrieking continued, and she lost her grip on the tree. Her impact with the ground, luckily too close for real damage, cut off the terrible noise she made, and she lay panting, her sides heaving as her eyes stared sightlessly.

Mzaa seemed to be struck by fear that froze her movements, a voice had been traveling upon the wind so gently, and then shrieks had filled the calm breeze sending her thoughts amiss letting fear engorge itself into the conscious part of her mind.
"What the-?" she turned her head back and forth as if to hone in one the sound that came from nowhere and everywhere close by and hidden away by the undergrowth of the massive green before her silver eyes.
"Who's there?!" she called out, almost threateningly, but also in a manner of defense, Mzaa wasn't sure what to expect.

Soft white ears perked as a voice came to them. Shaitani blinked once, then again, before a child-like smile curled over her face. Still, her sides heaved and her eyes stared, but her voice was a close mimic to a sane person's.
"Shaitani is here! Shai fell from the tree to the ground below..." She giggled and wheezed, her blood-dipped tail flicking against the leaf mold. "Shaitani wiggles in the dirt like a grub..." She grumbled, her voice dropping to a discontented hiss. "She is a pale white worm... slime in the dirt, shriek in the night!" Her voice rose on the last to become a shout, and she surged to her feet, her eyes wild as she stared around her.
There were... things, in the jungle. Little squishy things, small feathery fluttery things, and big things that made the ground go thump! She swore she could see them through the leaves of the trees and bushes... crawling and wiggling and dancing around her, yet no one cared enough about poor, crazy Shaitani to invite her to dance with them. Going still, she sniffed in disdain and started her own dance.
White paws touched down lightly on the ground as she bounced and whirled, dancing under the canopy that protected all from the terrible light of the sun. She was beautiful and deadly, and the hint of madness that clung to every motion only seemed to enhance that loveliness.

Mzaa watched her, watch Shaitani as she spoke and as she moved. Mzaa raised a paw as if to move but hesitated as Shatani continued, she watch, almost frozen by watching the red and white pelted female before her. Something didn't feel right, something didn't seem right right then and there. Flicking her tail Mzaa made sure to keep a watch on the stranger, her pelt seeming to be covered in blood, which sent a chill down the black pelted lionesses spine.
"What are...you dancing to Shaitani? I'm Mzaa..." she said softly, watching, waiting, ready to bolt and run if this ever turned for the worst.

Shaitani came to ubrupt halt as the voice called out to her. She had forgotten there was anyone there... so the words took her by suprise. She stared up at the lioness when her eyes found her, an expression of wide-eyed innocence on her face.
"Dancing?" She asked, a confused expression crossing her child-like features. "What is she dancing to? Why... the night! The night, it is alive!" She broke out in a smile as she bounced closer, her motions frisky and playful. "Everything is singing and moving and changing! The darkness is calling!" She laughed as she turned to look about her, the flickering shadows drawing her attention. As her mind was drawn away from this new lioness, her sensibility waned, her lunacy returning as a sort of troubled expression came to her face.
Where had Drakul gone? He always came to her this time of night... Now that she thought about it, she hadn't seen him in days... She frowned. Days? No, weeks... Weeks? When... when was the last time she'd seen him? Confusion reigned over her, and she felt suddenly like she'd lost something, something important.

The night? Darkness calling? Karana'Mzaana quirked a brow at the strange lioness, she seemed more childlike than an adult. So strange! Flicking her tail idly she watched, said nothing, and made sure to keep out of the stranger's way as to not get int he way of dancing to the night. The night, perhaps it meant something greater the the white and red pelted lioness.
Then something seemed to click, or change, and Mzaa wasn't sure whether to press on the matter or turn tail.
"Are you alright? Something trouble you?"

Shaitani's head weaved as she searched the shadows with her eyes, her path meandering in a similar way as she began to pace. She moved in a vaguely circular path, a soft little moan slipping free before she spoke.
"He's gone... gone gone gone... No more to come and visit poor Shaitani in her dark bower." She whimpered, suddenly turning pleading eyes on this stranger. The ivory and blood lioness rushed to the other, getting uncomfortably close as she stared pleadingly up at her. "Please... please, my Drakul, my king, my lover is gone... I must find him, or the lady, the lady will come for me... Please? He... he hasn't supped in far too long, and a child of the darkness must sup, or risk fading away, fading away like the beloved shadows, the lovers of the children, at the sweet, searing touch of dawn..."
Her words rambled, yet managed to keep to the same general theme. An unusual happening for this lioness, it seemed, who couldn't stay coherent for more than a few moments at a time. It was at this stranger's peril to let herself be drawn into it... but there was really no way for her to know about the time-bomb behind such a lovely, pleading face.

Mzaa raised a paw and took a step back, tilting her head in question. What the hell was going on? This lioness stranger seemed to be stranger by the moment, was she plagued by some mental illness that drove her to speech for such things, darkness and children? A king? Was she lost as well? Mzaa wasn't sure to make of the lioness' crazy musings, and she wondered if she should stay any longer then she already had.
"Whats he like? Perhaps If I come across him, I can send him here, would that make you happy?" she asked with silver hues fixated on the stranger.
So strange, adn worrisome she seemed.

Shai's face turned dreamy as she recalled her missing King, tracing over every beloved feature in her mind.
"Dark is he... a son of shadows and dried blood. His form is ever so fair, the kind that would make any lioness sworn. His eyes, they draw you in, capture your soul and hold you bound for all eternity!" She sighed, sounding love-sick. "He is the master and the father, the lover and the king. He is power and danger and pain. You cannot survive meeting with him... I did not." She laughed huskily once, then turned away. As her eyes shifted, she suddenly came back to herself and began to scan the area with a confused expression.
"Where has my toy gone? I swear, I left it just here..." Padding over to a spot in the underbrush that looked like any other spot, she began to scrabble around with her paws, digging into the fallen leaves and dirt as she searched for this 'toy'. Apparently, the other lioness and the topic of their conversation was lost for the moment. Such was the way Shai's mind worked... Like shards of broken glass, each one reflecting a different view and scattered in all directions.

Karana'Mzaana tilted her head at Shaitani and took a few steps back, ears falling back to rest against her head. Such a strange lioness, and this other fellow didn't seem so nice, though she shouldn't be out here alone, though Mzaa didn't think she'd be able to stay in continuous company with this strange red ad white pelted female.
If at least by chance Mzaa came across this king she'd point him in this direction, an then flee away before he seemed to capture her as Shaitani had said.
"I will tell him you are here then, if I see him," Mzaa took a few steps, and glanced at the female, Mzaa shouldn't stay longer, this girl was too unstable for her tastes.
"You'll find your toy I'm sure," before another word was spoken Mzaa darted off, though she glanced back to see if Shaitani had found her toy.
Such a strange girl.

Shaitani perked at mention of her king.
"Yes... yes, send my master to me!" She called after the fleeing lioness, dancing a few jerky steps in that direction before she stopped. Her face crumbled into confusion as memory tickled at her, yet try as she might, she could not grasp it and bring it into focus.
"Oh, dear... What now?" With the other lioness lost from her mind, she turned absently to look around, her tail gently flicking behind her. Where had...? Ah well. Her shoulders lifted in a shrug as she began to hum, picking up her pace into a trot in the other direction, leaving that little bit of jungle to itself.
And just like that, the meeting was gone without a trace, even in the mind of the pale lioness. Perhaps Karana would remember, but it was a frail thing, memory... the meeting between the two was pretty much pointless, and the results would have been the same even if they hadn't met.
Story of Shai's life, really.

Karana'Mzaana kept running until she was sure she had gone a great enough distance away form hte strange lioness. Strange, quite strange. Her pace slowing she yawned as she weaved herself through the undergrowth getting caught now and again, her thoughts dwelled on Shai though, and her lost king. Mzaa wondered if she'd ever see anyone resembling Shai's king, and if so, what might happen.
Only time would tell.
Only time.
