ShivA and I were up and chatting about the latest release, chapter 73. We're both in love with Mello's actual name... am I allowed to reveal it? Well, I might in posts other than first one, so be prepared.
So we thought, what's Near's name? Is it sexy and freaking awesome like Mello's real name is, too? And thus, this topic. Post suggestions for the names of either characters whose names we don't know (AKA L and Near), or just write in new names for characters if you think they're fun and interesting. 3nodding

I think Nizelheim would be a pretty rad name for Near (aah! I like to call him Nia, so typing Near is odd). It would make him seem so... so dark and mysterious.
...and, uhmm, German too, I guess. confused *scritches head*

I like Azrael as a name but I doubt its nears real name.. o_o; but then.. wasnt L's real name Ryuuzaki?

The thing about "L" in japanese is that it could also be "R". Well, not "L" in actuality, because L is L, no matter what, but the letter L can also be read as R when put into romanji. Does this even make sense?! sweatdrop
Well, I'll add those too... hmm... *tries to think of some sexy "L" names*
My name starts with L, but name is not that cool, though it is a bit unusual.
Aggh.. too late.. can't think of any...

It does! I remember cause Rucifuru translated as Lucifer!XD {{<- erk.. the other way around probably, but iI'm too lazy to switch it..}}
It is a cool name though! irs pretty! Mine is an R.. though its really unusual, and could be a guys name..

YES! I just came up with the best name ever for L... although when I say it, I'm probably going to get laughed at more than I can even imagine... but L's name... it should be... it so is...
LEFT!!!
What made me think of this? Well, first I was thinking about the contest on hella-toes.deviantart.com, in which you are supposed to depict L's childhood. Then I thought of how little kids remember left and right by clenching their fists and then sticking out their index finger and thumb. The hand which looks like an "L" is "left", right? Which reminded me of the akamaru in which L points out his fingers in a similar to fashion to illustrate his namesake. Plus, Light=Raito=Right!
TADAAAAH! THE NAME IS PERFECT I TELL YOU! And thus, I'll add this as one of L's possible names... whee Though I wonder if we'll ever really know his name...
