Now, I'm no Broncos fan, but what I saw Jay Cutler do yesterday was outstanding. A lineman broke through, and had his arms around Cutler, and Cutler spun off, rolled out, and delivered a strike to Javon Walker. That, and he had a 300 yard game.

His running game and defense also played great. He had a lot of help

That play was just...Elway-like though.

I agree, and not just because I'm a broncos fan. His stats from his first 11 starts are also strikingly close to Favre and Brady.

CUTLER AND FAVRE — THEIR FIRST 11 STARTS
JAY CUTLER, 2006-07
ATT. COMP. PCT. YDS. TD INT RATE
318 201 63.2 2,407 16 13 86.0

BRETT FAVRE, 1992
ATT. COMP. PCT. YDS. TD INT RATE
360 235 65.3 2,490 14 8 89.0

TOM BRADY, 2001
ATT. COMP. PCT. YDS. TD INT RATE
320 212 66.3 2,254 16 9 91.6

and if you look at the rookie QB's from last season, he's doing the best...

THE CLASS OF ‘06 — FIRST 11 STARTS
JAY CUTLER, 2006-07
ATT. COMP. PCT. YDS. TD INT RATE
318 201 63.2 2,407 16 13 86.0
MATT LEINART, 2006
ATT. COMP. PCT. YDS. TD INT RATE
368 208 56.5 2,493 11 11 74.9
VINCE YOUNG, 2006
ATT. COMP. PCT. YDS. TD INT RATE
277 146 52.7 1,656 9 10 66.7
AVERAGES
ATT. COMP. PCT. YDS. TD INT RATE
320.3 185.0 57.5 2,185.3 12.0 11.3 75.9

Jay has the right tools he just needs to learn to use them, and after the events that took place in the KC game on sunday, I think it's safe to say he's learning pretty damn well.

But Cutler has been blessed with a good offensive line, and pretty good receivers.

...Vince Young has horrible receivers, and runs a lot. Leinert has a horrendous offensive line.

And you cannot compare anybody to Favre, Brady, or Elway in about a year of playing.

What happened to Philip Rivers? 1st full year = probowl, 2nd year = pretty bad.

..Cutler does have potential, though.

Exactly.

Cutler has potential, but lacks the poise of one of the Top 10 QB ever.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to make it sound the way it came out. I was just trying to show that Jay has some serious potential, especially when you compare his rookie stats to rookie stats from legendary QBs. Jay has great players to work with, being a QB isn't just about there own skill, although if they have no skill then obviously there gonna suck no matter what kind of players they have to work with. He may still be kind of a rookie but he does look like an Elway in the making. As a Broncos fan, I sure hope he becomes a great QB. Although it will take a lot of hard work and practice, obviously, but if he keeps up what he's doing he'll be a great QB one day.

Top 10 EVER???
There have been quite a few legendary QBs and most wouldn't be in the top 10, obviously he's not gonna be in the top 10 QBs of all time. He might one day, you never know what could happen, but he obviously wont be any time soon.

No problem, I get your comparison.

But Cutler currently has better offensive talent to work with, than Brady and Favre did in their rookie years.

Heck,...Brady pretty much won 3 SuperBowls with almost unknown receivers.

oh lol
sorry, I'm used to people not even aknowledging Elway as a once great QB, let alone a legend. But now that I see what you meant, it makes sense.
