It was nice and cool in the shade of the forest, a welcome change from the heat of the sun. Jini wandered amongst the all of the greenery; ducking under branches that hung particularly low, darting around rotten stumps and jumping over fallen trees. She had never gone this far into the forest before. As a cub, it had frightened her. Not even Jini's love of adventure and mischief could have possibly convinced her to even consider stepping into the place. Until now.
She was a beautiful adolescent; bigger and stronger than she ever been. Jini wasn't about to let her slight claustrophobia keep her out of someplace that simply wreaked of undiscovered secrets and untapped potential.
The young lioness yawned and stopped to study a cluster of ants as they methodically wound their way up down a tree. She couldn't help but wonder how they knew what they were doing. Why didn't they bump into each other? Their heads looked much too small for eyes.

For once, Rin was actually inside of the Kusini lands. Lately, she had taken to residing on the very outskirts of the pride, with her... mate? She still wasn't sure what to call Duzi. She knew that she loved him and that he loved her, but they had never really talked about where their relationship stood. Perhaps that was why she was inside of the Kusini lands today. Duzi would worry, but she simply needed to think.
That was how she had found herself at the borders of the forest. Like so many other cubs, she had been afraid to go inside of the forest. She had heard tricklings of stories and it in itself had always seemed frightening. But now she was bigger and even fiestier than before. She could handle it. Besides, she felt it would be the perfect place for her to be alone. Who else would go in there?
Entering the forest, she went slowly at first. She didn't want to get lost so quickly, as she had never before been in there. But soon enough her confidence grew and she was strolling along, looking for a suitable place to lay down and brood over her thoughts. But it seemed that she wasn't alone.
As she walked along, something off to the side caught her eye. She stopped suddenly and turned her eyes, blue eyes settling on the form of her sister Jini. Smirking to herself, she crouched low and hopefully out of sight. Taking great care to avoid anything that would break or rustle and give her away, she slowly made her way towards her sister. When she was within about three feet, she suddenly leaped from her hiding spot and growled playfully. She was aiming to tackle her sister, and hopefully Jini didn't move out of the way.
