Darkfeather had thought long and hard over his conversation with Setsumi. And after fighting his own stubborness and convincing himself it was his idea... he'd started to set himself up a territory. It wasn't like there was anyone around to challenge him really... and he chose a very spacious spot... a section of the jungle that also included a stretch of beach... where the river dumped into the ocean. That place was rich with fish, and not far upstream was the waterfall.
He even had started to construct himself a nest in a particularly large and old tree for him to roost in at night. But as he laid amidst some banana leaves with his latest catch, he couldn't help but feel that something was still missing. A frown etched onto his maw as he stared pointedly at the horizon.. but not looking at really anything in particular.

How much time had passed? Setsumi wasn't even aware, her thoughts too stretched out over many events. Firstly, and surprisingly, had been a ghostly encounter. Some form of magic, stating it was conjured up by Remus, had declared a mesage from Terasu. Apparently, he had kits of his own now. Well things had gone almost too well for her son since she left. She had seen some shy affections between him and Charity beforehand, but hadn't expected this.
Then her thoughts shifted, landing on her latest situation. Elian. It had been difficult, with her own guilts shuffling back and forth. Until she could no longer lie to herself. They weren't made for each other. And that confession alone to the other had helped her to finally breathe. This vacation hadn't been all real until that moment. Setsumi closed her eyes, enjoying this strained accomplishment with the drizzling sound of the calm river. Now she could finally relax on the inside.

Now, Darkfeather wasn't use to dealing with scents still... but as he caught a wiff of something that smelled familiar, it did get his attention. Rising from his place on the beach and picking up his latest fish catch, he took off into the air. Eventually pinpointing where that familiar scent was coming from.
It was Setsumi, and the avian-like Kitsusagi soon descended nearby, dropping his fish at his paws. A bit of a wry smirk on his muzzle as he observed her next to the river. "You've invaded my territory" said he, looking particularly amused with himself. Obviously, he had no intention of chasing her out of his claimed plot of land.

Setsumi blinked her eyes open, and sat watching the river flow on by. From time to time, she could catch glimpses of fish darting by, enjoying their clean environment. The glimmering surface had darkened for a second, and the kitsu tilted her head slightly. Had that been a reflection? Her ears pinned before she could think any further on it, turning her head to the sudden voice.
She stared blankly for a moment, before grinning at the other. Was that humor in his voice? No way. Playing along, she turned her chin to the air, not bothering to move. "I'm afraid you're mistaken. I was here first." So, he had taken action to the idea. She was just surprised to see him in an open and....dare say cheery mood. Maybe he had found his trainer friend? That was something to consider.

Well perhaps cheery ws too strong a word.. but he was in better spirits. He hadn't found his trainer, but he felt relaxed and in a decent mood today. Either way, Darkfeather smirked at Setsumi's words. "I think not."
Picking up his fish again, Darkfeather moved towards her and dropped it near her. Perhaps it was a peace offering or just a kinda gesture... but either way... it was there for her if she wanted it.
The crested Kitsusagi then sat and looked out at the river, his tails tapping against the ground.

Heh, well cheery was suiting the female just fine. "Oh, well then you can have that side of the river." Blue hair tossed as she glanced over the glassy water to the other end. It was just as fine as this side, no big deal. The smell of fish, outside the cover of water, drew her attention back to the winged kitsu. "Quite the fisherman, aren't you?" She wondered to herself if that was all his diet consisted of.
When he sat, she lifted to sit back, with ears perked back and eyes smiling. "So, how have your days been?"

Darkfeather rolled his eyes and snorted, "How very kind of you" he remarked sarcasticly. And well... yes... he did eat fish a lot. It was his food of choice, and it was what he was best at catching. When he was a Pokemon, his trainer would always provide him with the best fish. He was quite a spoiled bird.
"Quiet" he admitted with a grunt. Apparently it had been too quiet for him. Being alone left him with his own thoughts, and well... those weren't always pleasant. "You're far more interesting to talk to than trees."

Setsumi merely smiled to herself. "You're welcome." It was all in good play, that they were both aware of. Besides, she had no need of this land or river. She'd have to head back out soon enough, with the details handed down to her from realm. She couldn't help but wonder how much time had passed, since that message was made and when it reached her.
Her face lightly scrunched, raising a brow at Darkfeather. "I would certainly hope so." Comparing her to a tree, hah! She leaned forward slightly, tilting her head to be in Darkfeather's view. "But do you remember our first meeting, on that HQ roof?" Tails curled at her side, twitching as they brushed the cold fish. "You might as well have treated me as a tree." Hardly any words had left his maw then, as if he was too good for anything. Let alone speaking to another kitsu.

Ears tilted back at mention of their first meeting. "Yes.. I remember" he grunted, maw creasing in a frown. "I'm not the most personable kitsu.. I... apologize." Cringe. He wasn't one to apologize very often, but it seemed that Setsumi deserved such. She'd treated him well, and Darkfeather... had not exactly returned the favor all too well.
He then side glanced at her, "Tell me.. have you found what you've been looking for out here?" He knew that she pretty much came out here to get away... to get some peace. He wondered if she had achieved that. Darkfeather wasn't even sure of the question himself. It was peaceful.. but he had yet to truely find we he was looking for. Something was missing still.

The femme shook her head with a small grin. "No need to. Just thought to bring it up, seeing you've come some ways." Now he invited himself to the option of chatting. She reached out for a fish, already recognizing the gesture of a shared meal. "And besides, you've brought me fresh lunch."
Her own ears pressed back, along with the feathers behind them. That had been what she was going to ask him. Seems he beat her to it. "Yes, I did." She still felt guilt, but it was outweighed by the comfort she felt. "I was left with no option but to confront it; I guess it was the easiest way in the end." Who knew? Setsumi tossed a smile before turning her attention to the fish. "So now things are all cleared out, and we're better off."

"I see..." he said watching as she decided to partake in the fish. Her words giving him a reason to think for a moment. "What are you going to do next?" he asked. If her reason for coming here was complete, then she probably intended to leave and go back home.
For some reason, the thought of her leaving left him somewhat uneasy. He couldn't put a finger on it, but well... he didn't like the idea. Darkfeather frowned at himself, thinking his emotions were rather irrational... but they were not completely unfamiliar.

A hesitant shrug followed his question. She had her vacation, and now she had more duties to see to at realm. Grandchildren were important, even if it was honestly the last thing she had expected. "I have to meet back with my family in realm. Apparently, my son decided to make me a grandma." Ugh, how that word made her shudder.
She peered over to Dark with her green eyes. "Aren't you going to eat?" Did he always hunt and leave behind his meals? She didn't think that was the case.

"So you're leaving then..." he voiced in conclusion. Although her question brought his attention down to the fish, which he'd almost forgotten about. He paused for a moment before nipping off a small strip of flesh. He was a ravenous eater usually.. but his appetite seemed to be diminished this morning. Brows were furrowed and he seemed to be uncomfortable... as if weighting options in his mind.

Setsumi blinked to that, being it was the blunt definition. She felt like it was old times all over again, when her and Ronan would rest from place to place. Only rarely had they ever have to say goodbye to others. So, that was what bothered the winged male? His only company would be trees.
"Yes." It was the only thing she could come up with to say. She felt tense now, seeing him withdraw back to his stoic behavior. Her own fish was ignored as she felt guilt once more. "You're welcome to tag along, Darkfeather."

Darkfeather sighed heavily, placing a paw on his fish and sinking his claws into it. He stared at the fish intently, as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.
Finally he spoke, "I built a territory here in order to settle down... to have something to protect. However, in truth... something has been missing, I've not felt complete. I think I know now.. its not something but someone that I need. In my past life, I always had someone to protect." All that time, he didn't even look at Setsumi.
"I had hoped you would stay, but if you're intent on leaving... I will go with you." These confessions all felt very undignified and that showed in his expression and posture.
