Ugh, so i hate the new marketplace... For one thing, i don't know how to use it right. I can't ever find the thing to sort it by lowest price. Cause of the stupid tax, the prices are all messed up and i don't know what to list it at. I don't know how to use the exchange and no one responds anyway... >_<;; If only i could just keep using the old marketplace...
I mean, i can understand the admins wanting to take care of inflation, but really with all the people complaining about the tax they should just get rid of it. Nobody wants it, why force it on us, y'know? Find some other way to control inflation.
Anyway, anyone wanna buy my August letter for 14,500? sweatdrop

Eh. No, thanks. I didn't really like the August MCs.
I completely loathe the new MP, as well. Actually, another penguin (Takalian) and I are in the process of creating an anti 2% thread.
Nobody had any complaints about the old MP. Things were easy to find and, although inflation is a b***h, s**t happens. Now, the new MP is nothing but shinyness and buttons. It's full of glitches and it's really confusing.

toxic valentine Anyway, anyone wanna buy my August letter for 14,500? sweatdrop -Glances at her measly 9k- ...dammitall.
and tax is an icky way to add a gold sink. Im not even totally sure how it could possibley help. But then again Im just a user who work 40hrs a week..and when I sit down to browse Gaia I dont want to spend half my time pondering economics. Im sure for a niche group of rabid marketplace people its great fun..but Id rather just avoid the marketplace altogether at this point.

I'll buy your letter for 14.5k, Toxic. I have enough gold now. Send me the trade if it's still for sale. I can also give you tips on the Exchange forum, if you want to learn how to use it. Hey, that does work, Rebel! Thanks! For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to get it to list by lowest "Buy Now" prices. For anyone who is confused on where this button is, say you are buying a Summoning Tome... click on the links below to see how to get it to list by Buy Now. I took screenshots to help. By the way, if anyone wants it to list by "Time Remaining," that button is located further right from the "Buy Now". Link 1Once you do what is above, this will happen: Link 2

ok, here comes a rant (and trust me this rant has been severely condensed):
I am against the marketplace mainly because of the 2% fee. I am against this fee because since the marketplace is so unpredictable, there is no guarantee that this plan will work, or that it won't backfire and in fact increase inflation. The administration supposedly wants to solve the problem of inflation, however, I predict that this fee will only make inflation rates in the marketplace even worse. The reason for this is mainly users now have an incentive to raise their prices by 2% to compensate for this fee in order to receive the amount they originally wanted in return. Because all prices adjust to new prices, all prices have the potential to rise at least 2% to compensate for this charge. This rise in inflation already seems to be occurring. For instance, recently I sold an item at the lowest price in the old marketplace. I checked it's price in the new marketplace and the price had already risen 2k. Not to mention the fact that so many users are against this plan certainly guarantees that this plan will fail. Since the marketplace is user controlled, the administration needs gaian users full support in order for this plan to work. Without user cooperation, prices only have the potential to rise to outrageous sums meaning eventually only a few wealthy users that can afford these high prices will be able to use the marketplace. This was apparently the problem this plan was supposed to prevent, not create.
Also, with so many users claiming they'll use the exchange instead of the marketplace, that only means the marketplace is going to be left deserted and obsolete, with nothing worthy to buy/sell on there. I also think there are far more stable ways the gaia administration could have conducted this same concept without using the marketplace or without possibly increasing inflation. Many of these alternative suggestions have in fact been proposed by users, and have a far better chance of succeeding mainly because they don't risk the possibility of inflation as much as this plan does.
I'm also still wondering why the gaia administration is listening to a user who has only been around since April - I'm referring to Sagger-AT3 the supposed mastermind behind the 2% fee. I'm sorry, but he seems pretty much like a noob, an educated noob, but a noob nonetheless. To me, all that degree that he claims to have simply proves that he's studied, not that he is in any way an expert on gaia economics. In fact he can't even agree with Lanzer on whether or not there is inflation in the marketplace, and he consistently asks gaian users advice on gaia economics, claiming outright that he is clearly unfamiliar with gaia economics. If you don't believe me, simply view his profile and journal. I'm wondering why the gaia administration decided to follow the advice of this employee over the advice of experienced gaian users who have used the marketplace for years.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But that's beside the point. EVERYBODY PLEASE READ THE BELOW STATEMENT. EVEN IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO READ MY PREVIOUS OBJECTIONS, I WOULD LIKE EVERY PENGUIN MEMBER WHO VISITS THIS THREAD TO VIEW THE FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENT:
ok, well it seems to me that a lot of users are against this new marketplace. So, if you choose not to use the new marketplace for whatever reason, i believe there should be a PURPLE PENGUIN EXCHANGE in which purple penguins can buy/sell items. The reason I am proposing this is because I am hesitant over using the exchange mainly due to stories of trade scams. I think a Purple Penguin Exchange will allow for a safe way in which Purple Penguin users can trade items. However, I'm wondering what you guys think of this concept first. If there is enough of an agreement, I'll create a separate thread. However, if there isn't, I'll simply forget this idea ever existed.

@memarcus: The art shops and exchange forum got condensed into one subforum, Barter Square. But if there's enough demand for a separate subforum Im sure the mods will make it.
