Also, Wotcher and I played out this bit on AIM while Gaia was being lame. >.< The rest of the rp will likely be conducted here in the guild.]
Jiora
The sound of circus music filled the fairgrounds. A few clowns and jugglers strolled about, delighting the children present with their antics. One of the animal tamers passed by on the back of an elephant, a lucky pair of children squealing in delight behind her and clinging to the safety ropes around the saddle. A sword swallower pretended to choke on a saber halfway down his throat, drawing horrified gasps from the small crowd watching.
"You're sure he's here, Jaclyn?"
"For the last time yes, Jiora. Now shut up and help look or I'm leaving."
Jiora scowled up at the girl. They'd been wandering around Gaia for what felt like hours only to finally come to a circus, and there didn't seem to be any sign of the unicorn here either. She glanced up at a tug on her hair. "Ow- What?"
"Look," replied Jaclyn. She pointed toward a sign outside one of the smaller tents - a sign that just happened to have a picture of the unicorn they'd been looking for on it.

Arakel stared. Well, if Rune was going to run away, he supposed a circus wouldn't be the last choice. But still...Something didn't seem right. Behind him, Moore trotted along rather happily in his usual ambitious mood. Of course, he could only be seen by the Fa'e and their bonded Guardians, or otherwise people would be staring instead of passing by, completely unaware of his presence. "Moore, will you please? We've come here to get Rune, not mess around." Arakel spoke, a hint of impatience in his voice. He was anxious. He knew Rune was around here somewhere...But where?
"Why don't we just go with the flow? If we wander around long enough, we're bound to find Rune." Moore stepped up beside Arakel, pausing for the first time. "He could be a performer here at the circus. Hey, I would pay to see a unicorn-boy!" Moore spoke sarcastically, glancing around with sharp, green eyes. He was only kidding, of course, but it was a possibility that should not be ruled out.
Arakel didn't answer. He had noticed a small crowd gathering around one of the small exhibit tents. Knowing Moore would follow, Arakel headed toward it, a feeling starting to rise in his chest. Pushing through the crowd, Arakel ignored the protests as he came face-to-face with a sign with a unicorn on it. A unicorn that looked oddly like Rune.
((When I say Guardians, that means Jiora can see Moore too. She is a Guardian. XP And Moore can..."speak" but only Arakel and Rune can understand him. @@; ))

Jiora cursed quite audibly as she was shoved aside, drawing several irate glares from various parents. Jaclyn turned her gaze skyward and took a few wise steps away from her 'friend' - if Jiora was about to cause a scene, she certaintly didn't want to be in the midst of it. Bad enough she was out here looking for a funky horse.
Jiora rose up on her tiptoes, trying in vain to see over the wall of people that had formed between her and the tent when she'd been shoved aside - curse her short stature! She grumbled in irritation, ducking down to slip between a couple who, thankfully, weren't clinging to eachother as most couples did. Ignoring their confused protests, she crept a short distance away and stood again, leaving them to wonder over what had just happened. She threw a brief glance at Arakel, only somewhat distracted by his appearance. It wasn't often that she saw strange blue, horned men with...were those fins? And that...
She stared rather obviously at Moore for several moments, wondering why no one was paying any attention to him. A normal unicorn was worth some amazement too, wasn't it? Were winged ones really that much more amazing?
She shook her head and turned to the fellow at the entrance to the tent, shoving a few bills into his hand and stepping inside. She could wonder about the strange green unicorn later.

Moore, as if he felt Jiora's gaze burning him, turned sharply. Hey, that wasn't good. Random people weren't supposed to be able to see him. "Hey Arakel!" Moore called from the edge of the crowd. He couldn't be seen, but he could still be felt. And if wouldn't be good if all of those people felt this thing in the middle of their group. "Not now, Moore!" Arakel snapped, digging through his pockets for money. Moore hadn't seen the sign yet, but Arakel was frantically searching his pockets. That unicorn looked too much like Rune to just dismiss it.
"But Arakel..." Moore whined from where he was standing, pawing nervously at the ground. "That girl can see me." He said rather meekly, watching as Arakel triumphantly handed the bills over and stepped inside the tent. "And how am I supposed to get in, eh?!" Arakel had dragged him along on this trip and so far it was turning out like crap.

The interior of the tent was rather bare. Plain blue cloth made up the walls, a few golden threads woven in around the entrance in what might have been intended to be an elegant design of some sort. It really looked like little more than something a child might have done in a feeble attempt to make it look pretty. A few electric lamps were scattered here and there to keep it well lit, and a pair of animal tamers were lingering in the corner watching the 'exhibit' warily.
The 'exhibit' was much less than happy with the situation. Rune stood in the center of a makeshift pen, shying away from children and the like who seemed intent on touching him. Someone had fit a halter and bridle over his muzzle, a chain connecting the bit of leather to a stake firmly planted in the ground. He pinned his ears back and shied back from a particularly excited toddler only to stumble too close to a rather amazed woman. She managed to pet his nose for a moment before he darted away from her as well, shrinking back to the center of the pen and looking quite miserable with the situation.
Jiora, however, couldn't see this. The tiny woman was bouncing about the edges of the crowd, trying desperatly to find a way through, or to at least catch a glimpse of the poor unicorn.

There was no doubt about it. That unicorn was Rune. Something, a sixth sense perhaps, confirmed that to Arakel. He wasn't exactly a short person, so he saw over the crowd well enough. He didn't like what he saw. Despite the pain to his webs, Arakel clenched his fists, trying to control the anger that was threatening to build up in him. He didn't know how Rune had been turned into a unicorn, but that didn't matter. That was his brother in there. His twin brother.
As the bouncing woman caught his attention, Arakel frowned. She was trying to break her neck, just to see the pretty unicorn. It made him sick. But here was not the place to confront her. Turning away from Jiora, Arakel leaned against the pen, trying to run a few plans through his mind. None of them struck him as genius. "Rune..." Arakel whispered, resisting the urge to jump straight into the pen and embrace his brother in a hug. No, he needed a plan. A good one.

Rune glanced in Arakel's direction, holding his gaze for only a brief moment before looking away again, distracted by someone in the crowd. Not so much as a faint glimmer of recognition had shone in his eyes when he saw his brother though. To him, Arakel was just another face in the crowd surrounding him.
One of the tamers finally noticed Jiora bouncing around the edge of the crowd. Chuckling softly at the woman he rose to his feet, clearing a path through the crowd to let her close enough to see clearly. She muttered a vague thanks, not quite meaning it. For all she knew he could be one of the bastards that had taken her unicorn in the first place. She just managed to peer over the shoulder of the person in front of her, trying to catch Rune's attention, failing miserably, of course.
She scowled and chewed her lip for a moment, glancing from Rune to the person blocking her view a few times. A brief pause.
She kicked his ankle, stepping swiftly to the left as he turned to see who'd kicked him. The annoyed man decided to place the blame on the unfortunate teen behind him, and Jiora took the distraction as a chance to slip to the front of the crowd. She whistled shortly, drawing the attention of most of the people in the tent, but, more importantly, drawing Rune's attention. He glanced her way and blinked once, rustling his wings a bit before letting out a low whicker, steping just close enough for her to reach out and pat his nose. There was a pause as a few in the crowd took note of the reaction, and then the tent was full of whistling circus goers.
