The sun was slowly creeping up from it's slumber below the horizon, throwing fingers of pale orange and gold across the washed-out blue and gray of the early morning's sky. The mist was curling upwards from where it had lingered upon the earth throughout the entire night, disappearing like ghosts into the slanting bars of shimmering light that glittered down through the clouds glittering in wisps overhead.
Kiasi, as had become her custom, was out walking by herself as usual, escaping the ruckus of the dens that would occur as soon as the families and their multitude of babies awoke from their night's long slumber. She sighed at the thought of all those cubs, her jaw tightening in the irritation that such things presented themselves in her mind. Her paws worked silently against the earth beneath her feet, muscles rippling over her tiny adult form beneath her golden-brown, neatly kept fur.
However, even as she walked along and thought over all the things that irritated her and drove her crazy, she couldn't help but see Kubwa again in the center of her mind's eye. Lately, thoughts of the rather handsome male had plagued her, making her wonder if there had been more to that meeting than a little natural flirting. She laughed to herself, shaking her head softly and shutting those beautiful navy eyes against the world. It wasn't love-sickness, it was just a little infatuation. As hard as she tried tot ell herself she wasn't in the mood to start playing love games, she couldn't deny the appeal. She opened her eyes again, raising her head a little higher and letting her attention turn to the rising sun.

A pale lion weaved leasurely back and forth as he walked to no where in particular. His mind was focused on the task at hand later that day he would be telling everything he had been keeping in to his family, and he wasn't sure where to start. So much had happened in his secret life, meeting a goddess, having a child with her and helping to raise that child and then coming back; it all seemed like it occured far too fast for his and everyone's own good. Tetemeko was the only creature in his entire life he would truly be selfless for and do everything, and now it was time to tell Tetemeko the truth about his mother, and tell his parents as well.
His mind slipped lazily to the cream colored lioness that he had met on an early morning like this, and he would be lieing if he said his thoughts never drifted in her direction. Almost as if he had willed her to appear she was walking around infront of him. He felt guilty as well telling her that Tete's mother had passed away, and his heart seemed to be living in his paws thinking about it.
Quickly he tried very hard to come up with something witty; he shouted, "We have got to stop meeting like this!" he tried to fake a happy voice, but the concern slpped into it.

Startled out of her thoughts rather suddenly, Kiasi gave a hard jerk as the voice resounded through her ears and echoed slightly in the empty area. She took a good leap backwards, landing awkwardly and more than a little clumsy. For a moment, she was too bewildered to even see who it was that had yelled at her, but she finally got her mind to focus and let those deep, navy eyes find the pale form before her. It almost immediately drew a smile onto her maw, and she began to head in his direction.
"Well, perhaps we're just meant to run into each other, hm? After all, we both seem to be early risers," she said with a little laugh. As she stalked along towards him, her small, lithe little form slinking along, she began to analyze the emotions splashing across his face. It didn't take her long to realize that he just wasn't coming across the same as he had before - but one would have to be blind not realize that. "Are you alright, Kubwa?" she asked calmly, stopping before him and tilting her head.

"I am so sorry for startling you," he smiled a genuine smile from ear to ear, "I think it's fate that we've run into each other." he winked and stepped towards her his dark brown eyes intently focused on her in an intense stare.
Without thinking he breezed forward towards her and rubbed his shoulder against her's, "No, I..I wasn't truthful before. You remember that I said my mother is angry because my lover died? She didn't die..she left Tete with me and I havn't told anyone who the mother is out of fear and I'm just so stupid."
Later in the afternoon Kubwa was supposed to speak to his entire family and tell them just that, but much, much more. He may have had an inkling of feelings for Kiasi but did he want to get her that invovled? Saying Boma'burudi was a goddess would be a big step, especially since most don't believe in them.

Her eyes lingered on his, for the moment entranced by the dark orbs staring down into her ocean-toned pools. The way he brushed past her almost got a flirty comment out of her, as well, probably something along the lines of him not being able to keep himself off of her. She couldn't help it though, watching him get all flustered was kind of cute. However, as he began to speak, the agonized tones in his words wiped the smirk clean off of her little maw. She knew that this wasn't the time to be antagonizing him - especially since he seemed to be confiding something so personal in her.
"Kubwa, that's," she began, but let the words trail off as she tried to think about how he must feel. She couldn't saw she understood his pain, because she'd never had anything remotely similar happen to her - in fact, she led a fairly sheltered life. Furrowing her brows, she glanced at her feet before turning around to look at him. "Kubwa, you shouldn't blame yourself for that. Whoever did that was heartless, and cruel," she whispered, a confused look written across her face and her heart pulsing with a mirror of his own grief, "you told them what you had to do to keep Tete safe."
Of course, Kiasi still assumed that the lioness was mortal. After all, being raised here, belief in any other goddess or god was very minimal. While she didn't believe in any other than the patron of the pridelands, she had still heard all the gossip coming through. It wouldn't be the first time she had heard a crazy story.

He let out a low gutteral groan from deep in his throat and he shivered involuntarily. Her words were a comfort, but they would not subside his guilt for what was happening in his life. For some reason Kiasi's oppinion meant a great deal to him, perhaps it was because she was the first female to just be casual and charming to him, but also intelligent.
"She was cruel, and did not have the heart to face me, she left him with strangers," his voice was pained and strained because he wanted to cry so badly, "I'm sorry, we barely know one another and I'm spilling everything to you. Thank you, though. My son means the world, I'd be so pleased if you would meet him.
The pale lion wanted to curl into a ball and skip out on the family meeting that he had planned himself. But, today he was guilt driven and that meant trying to releave that guilt was the only way to change it.

She frowned as she heard him groan and realized, rather suddenly, that he was breaking down on her. He was spilling his guts out to her, showing her all the emotions that he had built up over the last few weeks, and all she could do for a moment was stare at his back, dumbfounded and lost for words. Then, with a little frown, she decided that he needed someone to comfort him right now, not someone to just mutter a few nice words here and there.
With a little frown, she walked forward and buried her little head against his mane, snuggling against his neck in an effort to comfort him. It felt nice, being close to him, but it was more for his comfort than any other reason. For some reason, with him so upset, it made the gesture more friendly and a lot less awkward than it would have been otherwise. "If she was cruel and as heartless as you say she was, Kubwas, then your son is much better off without her. You wouldn't want him to grow up like that, would you?" His next words, however, caused her to pause. Why would she want to meet a cub? Cubs were annoying. However, because he was so upset, she merely nodded, "of course I will." How was she supposed to know that it would come back to bite her later?
She sighed and shut her eyes, her head still nuzzled against his neck. She would do anything right now to make him feel better, nearly anything at all. For some reason, seeing him so broken down was discomforting, and it made her feel her own version of grief and sadness.

His eye widened and tears burned threatening to spill over as she came forward with her gestures to comfort him. The feel of her made him straighten up slightly, but it could not keep back tears that had, had month coming, a few started to stream down his cheeks as he stayd silent. How can I ever thank you for listen? He thought and decided it wasn't a necessary thing to thank her now.
"I'm sure Tete would be different and I would never w-ant that, I want him to be strong and bold like my family not cowards," he barely whispered the thought.
How awkward would her touch be if this was not a situation where he just needed the feel of someone else, very and the thought of that nearly brought Kubwa's signature blush forward, but he was more thinking of the way she felt and how he thought that if he was to run into anyone else this morning he would feel differently.
"I'm..well, I'm sorry for not being truthful, okay?" he added a little more loudly and stepped into her nuzzling gratefully.

“Of course you would never want him to be different, you’re being as best a father as you know how,” she said quietly, her eyes shut as she kept her head leaned softly into his neck. Although it was more for his comfort than it was anything else, she couldn’t help realizing how nice it felt to simply be so comfortable with him, so close to his body. She didn’t mind giving him this sort of comfort, really. “I’m sure he’ll grow up to be just as strong and brave as you are Kubwa, and it takes someone very strong to go through what you’ve been through,” she said quietly, her deep blue eyes looking slowly up at his handsome face.
“Don’t worry about it,” she said softly at his next words, though she was admittedly a little surprise as he began to return the nuzzle. She simply smiled however and rubbed her face against the soft, thick fur of his mane. This was nice, in a way she hadn’t really realized before. “I’ve heard worse lies than that, and you were doing it to protect your family, right? That can’t be so bad, at least you were worried about you cub,” she purred out quietly, slowly shutting her eyes as she leaned against him. She was glad that he had calmed down at least a little.

Kubwa was shocked at the tenderness of Kiasi, and how she understood so well, he was afraid of loosing yet another friend to the cause of his silly mistakes. The feel of Kiasi's eyes on him and then her neck against him sent silent shivers down nerve endings setting his paws on fire, he was not holding back the Kubwa blush very well because his legs started to turn pink. Turning his head slightly he rested it on hers. He was breathing normally which told him that before he must have been breathing heavily. The return to a normal state helped to level his head and the tears ebbed away slowly, still a few clinging to his fur.
"I hope they understand as well as you, I'm telling them, I have to--today. And that is that," he would have bobbed his head if he wasn't comfortable the way he was.
"How are you, and the many brothers?"

“I’m sure they’ll understand, even if it shocks them a little bit at first, Kubwa. At least you’re brave enough to tell them,” she said quietly, her head perched comfortably against the side of his neck. It was more comforting than she would have imagined, being this close to him, and for some reason it just seemed right – if that made any sense. She purred softly as she felt his head lean onto hers, and found that she would have given anything in the world just to stay like this. Silly Kiasai, what in earth was coming over her?
“Me and my brothers?” she said with a small laugh, her tail flickering as she forced those beautiful, deep blue eyes to glance up at him the best she could. She shrugged softly, shifting her body comfortably against him. “Nothing really, to tell you the truth. I’ve been spending a lot of time on my own, thinking,” she said with a small frown. “I suppose, actually, I’ve been really lonely lately – except for the day that I met the queen’s consort.”

The pale lion could not help but tell she seemed to be happy next to him as well. Boma'burudi came to mind sharply and he had to tare her image out of his mind almost forcefully. She wasn't like Kiasi, she wouldn't leave him she was kind and nice and a friend, nothing else. His train of thought was slightly irational but it worked well for him.
"I hope they believe everything, my mother has it in her head that I stole, Tetemeko, thank goodness Kipanaya, my brother, talked her out of that idea. What young male would steal a cub, it hasn't exactly been fun... I take that back, Tete has been nothing but fun, and a harsh reminder of far too much." He pressed harder against her out of fear of crying again. He wanted to see those big blue eyes staring back into his deep brown ones, but was afraid to move. Silly, how for one moment he finds a friend and now he's cuddling against her, at least she started it this time. Before, he had been with Boma so quickly, such teenage hormones.

“She thought you stole him?” she said rather suddenly, pulling her head back far enough to look up at him with a bit of surprise lingering in the depths of those ocean-hued orbs. “Why on earth would you want to steal a cub, especially when you’re so young yourself?” she made a small ‘tch’ noise with her tongue, shaking her head in a bit of disbelief. “No offense, but I think your mom may be a little crazy.”Why would anyone want to steal a cub? From what she had seen, they made messes, made noise, and never did anything useful. That would be like wishing for the plague, in her opinion.
“I’m sure they’ll understand, just stop worrying about it,” she said quietly, burying her face back against the soft fur of his neck. She really needed to get him on a slightly different subject, away from the thoughts of his family’s disapproval. With a little smile, she shifted so that she could sit down slowly – which inevitably caused her to move her head away from his neck, but it was much more comfortable than standing for so long.
“How is Tete doing?” came her sudden question, figuring it was as good a topic as any, though she could really care less about the cub she had never met.

"Haha, maybe you and Tete would get along!" He said to the Aadil being crazy comment, of course mom was a bit nutty to assume that he stole him. "I left the family for awhile after Tete's birth, I had to track him down, mom assumed I was ashamed of him because I took him from someone else and was trying to keep him as my own. She threatened to get someone to take him away, he looks like me...a little bit, but he didn't get the band around his leg...lions in my family have it I guess."
The sudden coolness from her pulling away pulled him out of any fantasy he had about being with Kiasi, it would be impossible to ask another female to be with him, what if she ran anyways? He looked down and really did feel lost in those blue eyes.
"You're um..well, lovely. What is a pretty girl wandering alone for? Thinking about?"

“Perhaps,” she said hesitantly as he mentioned her getting along with Tete. She never got along with any cubs, usually, especially if they were more prone to being dirty and loud. She just couldn’t handle that type of thing – at least, not for anyone but Kubwa. The thought almost made her laugh, especially after she realized how much she did for him when she knew she wouldn’t have done it for another living soul. Walking through mud and comforting people were certainly not on her typical list of things to do.
“The band?” she said quietly, her eyes flickering down to his pale forelegs and scanning the little marking. It only made her laugh softly and then she gazed back up at him in wonder. “She thinks he’s not yours because he doesn’t have the family band?” she chuckled again, shaking her head as she thought about it. “I have the anchor that runs in the family, but not all of my siblings do. In fact, a lot of them don’t, even though it’s one of the most recognizable family traits.” It was true, she knew a few of her brothers hadn’t gotten the anchor mark that was plastered on her pretty little face.
“I’m usually alone because it’s hard to put up with all my brothers,” she said with a little shrug, gazing slowly out towards the horizon. “That, and I wonder how long it’ll be before I leave my parents and go to be on my own. I mean, I don’t like being alone, so it’s keeping me home for a long time.” She frowned, but immediately replaced it with a weak smile as she glanced back up at his baby-doll brown eyes.
