The lioness was feeling much more comfortable in her living situation, and though she had befriended Amleth months before, she still had not had the chance to talk with the king of this pride, to see if someone like her would be accepted here.

She'd find him in due time. For now, she's continue to relax here, unless she was told to otherwise.

Her sky blue eyes were blankly staring at one certain spot, her mind ticking through her past life, what she should try to eat later; normal things. Her hind leg twitched, and she sent it a menacing glare. Stupid scar. She would hope that it'd fade in the future, but for now, it would grace her side like a tick. Only, a very very large tick.

Where had it gone? Ah! There it was!

The little princess pounced forward, kicking up a cloud of dust in the process, making her wrinkle her nose and snuffle the debris out of it. But the mini-cloud quickly settled, leaving the princess only to groan in dismay as she discovered her paws to be empty. It had happened again! She was sure that little critter was laughing at her, her paws being too big and clumsy to pin it down, much to her irritation. And now, it was nowhere to be seen. No matter where she swivelled her crimson eyes, she couldn't find it. Her 'prey' had finally vanished.

With a sigh, Nerissa flopped down on her rump, unladylike as always, blowing a puff of air upwards to get the mane-like growth of fur out of her eyes. Her brother and sister were nowhere to be found, and now there wasn't even a bug around to chase and terrorise. With a moping expression, the little femme glanced around, wondering if anyone was actually in this part of the Graveyard. Though, it seemed unlikely. She'd wandered quite a bit away from where most gathered socially.

The puff of dust that was kicked into the air had attracted Dunia's attention, and her attention soon shifted to what was nearby rather then things from the past. She prayed it wasn't another damned hyena, especially the one that had attacked her. She probably wouldn't be able to hold herself back on trying to kill it for defiling her beautiful body.

She was soon on her feet, cautiously walking over to where the puff of dust had come from. Seeing that it was quickly settling, the first thing she noticed was that there wasn't a huge form there. Okay, no hyena. Then...? She glanced down to see a young little lion, looking quite indignant about something. Well, certainly not what she was expecting!

Nerissa's attention was drawn by the movement she caught out of the corner of her eye. Seeing a lioness standing there, she pushed herself to her feet again, tail flicking behind her as she turned to face the older lion, glancing around her to see if there was anyone else around. After all, this was a part of the Graveyard she didn't know well, and she'd never seen this lioness before. There could be others... and she could be in trouble.

"Who are you?" the smaller femme asked, and though she wasn't exactly comfortable at the moment, her voice was calm. "Are you part of the pride? I haven't seen you before."

Dunia's sky blue eyes watched the young lioness momentarily before offering a small bow to her. Best to be polite to everyone she crossed paths with, just in case.

"I'm Dunia," she said calmly, hoping to come across as a friendly lioness. "I'm living here momentarily, by way of Lady Amleth. I was attacked by hyenas, and she let me heal here. I would like to stay here, but haven't yet asked permission, to be honest."

She had decided that it might be rude to ask for the name of the young lioness before her, so instead just left it at that, and hoped that she would not demand her to leave, or something like that. Even though Dunia was an adult, she knew that she was in a stranger's lands, and chances were that this cub was a member, since it was hard to imagine that a cub could live here by itself.

Hearing the name Amleth, Nerissa immediately allowed herself to relax in Dunia's presence. If her mother allowed the lioness to stay, that meant she wasn't a threat in any way. Issy trusted the judgement of her parents implicitly; with she and her two siblings running around, not to mention other pride members, Nerissa knew neither of them would allow someone dangerous to stay in the lands once they were found out.

She pulled a cheery smile onto her face as she looked up at the much older lioness, her tail swishing behind her. "Oh, that's typical of mama," she replied. "She's really kind to everyone. If you want to stay, though, you have to ask daddy. But I'm sure he'll let you. He's really nice, too."

She sat herself down again, head tilting as she looked up at Dunia. "I'm Nerissa. It's nice to meet you." She left off the 'princess' part, though, because it was unnecessarily formal... and really, only her dad ever called her that out of affection.

Wait...Amleth was her mother? Amleth had let her know that she was the queen, so she had a princess of the pride right in front of her! Well, she just knew how to pick them, didn't she? This would certainly help if she really wanted to stay here for a while. Anywhere but on her own, for life out there was just too hard on one so delicate as she.

Noticing that the cub had left off her title, she gave her a small bow, one that would show some respect, but hopefully no embarass her either. "It is a pleasure," she stated truthfully. "I'm very grateful to your mother, it means more then I could ever put into words."

The lioness paused for a moment before speaking up again. "I must admit, I haven't met with the King yet. Is he kind, like you mother?"

As Dunia bowed to her, obviously realising her position in the pride, the young female let out a giggle. Such formalities seemed a little weird to her, and somewhat amusing, but they never really embarrassed her. The girl was too... well, confident and carefree to get embarrassed by something so small. She wasn't proud or vain, just comfortable with herself and her place in the world.

Nerissa smiled, causing little dimples to appear in her cheeks, and let out a quiet little laugh. "I bet mama didn't even think of that. She just likes to help people. And I know mama doesn't like hyenas much, so it only makes sense that she'd help if you got hurt by some."

The little princess' smile grew to a grin at the mention of her father, and she nodded enthusiastically. "You bet! He's the best daddy in the world!" Her eyes practically glowed at the thought of him; definitely daddy's little girl. "You can't miss him, either," she added, giggling once more. "See these stripes on my back?" Nerissa shifted just slightly to show off the three purple stripes that curved over her spine. "Daddy's all that colour. He's the most colourful thing in the graveyard!"

Dunia's own smile could not hide anymore when she heard the laughter of the child before her. There was just something about the innocent, yet full of life laughter a child could carry. It did fill her with a bit of warmth, and she had only just begun to live her. Perhaps she should try to stick around, then!

The lioness' ear flicked as she listened about her father. Ah, sweet as well, hmm? Well, that would be good to remember once she came across him. A it of worry seemed to make itself at home deep in her stomache. She hoped that she would not have to explain herself, or moreso where she came from, when asking to stay here for a prolonged period of time. There were just some things she would rather let stay in her mind, and never escape again.

She shook off her worries with a grin, amused at the king's alleged colour, though. "Aaah, I see. So I should look for a colourful lion whom stick out in this mostly brown place? I shall be sure to make note of it. You, though, my lady, are surprisingly clean for a home such as this." She leaned forward a bit, genuinely curious. "Care to share your secret?"

Brightly, Nerissa nodded her head. It was always rather hard to miss her daddy when he was wandering through the pride lands. He would have caught attention had he been moving through brighter lands than these, but in such a dark and dusty place, he drew the eye immediately. Her pristine white could draw attention as well, but it just didn't have the same affect as her father's purple. She loved the colour, though; it always made her happy.

Again, she giggled, impulsively looking down at her legs to study her fur. Glancing back up at Dunia, her eyes sparkling with good humour, she gave a wide grin. "My secret?" She leaned closer, in a conspiritorial fashion, as though about to share with the older lioness a secret of epic proportions. "A mother obsessed with keeping her cubs clean, that's my secret." As she leaned back, she wrinkled her nose lightly. "But I like to play in the dirt, 'cause it's fun, so mama needs to clean me often... and I'd rather be playing."

"Aaaah, so that's it~!" The brown lioness laughed brightly at the juvenile cub before her. So the secret wasn't quite a secret technique, but something certainly to keep in mind! "I see that Amleth sure takes good care of you and your sibilings, then! And you must keep her on her toes as well."

Dunia had never really taken the time to speak with cubs before, writing them off as small annoyances that only might grow up into something respectable. Perhaps it was because of her near-death expereince, but she just...seemed to appreciate the life that the cub held in her eyes, and what the future would hold for her. Sure, Dunia had no idea what might happen with Nerissa, but that didn't mean that it wouldn't be good.

"Aaah, I remember bath time. Not the most enjoyable time, is it? But as long as you're having fun while you're playing, that's what matters most, I think," she agreed, giving a very understanding nod.

Issy wrinkled her nose a bit, that bringing a sudden thought to her mind. One she wasn't really too entused to have in there, to be honest. "I'm nothing compared to my sister. She's a damn brat, that's what she is. And she bullies our brother all the time. Stupid girl."

She shook her head with a slight snort. Yeah, it was no secret she and Froth didn't see eye-to-eye on most topics. Like picking on Lysander, for example. Nerissa was firmly against it, while Froth thought it quality entertainment. Quite often the sisters locked horns about this particular subject. But, still, even if her sister was quite the female canine in truth, Nerissa loved her just out of principal, she guessed. And that was what made it even more annoying.

The pale little femme grinned up at her new friend (she liked Dunia enough to think of her that way already, with all the innocence of youth) as she returned that nod, glad to have found someone who shared her pain. "Ugh, I hate it! I don't see the point if I'm just gonna get all dirty again. Mama's tongue might get worn off before I'm all grown up at this rate."

Dunia's ears flicked forward in surprise at the vular words that Nerissa threw against her sister. Wow. So obviously not everything was perfect around here. It seemed extra surprising since Nerissa seemed like such a gentle girl! Well, obviously looks were not everything with this one. She would certainly need to keep that in mind if she planned to stay here.

She really needed to find this Duhushi, the King, and get herself allowed to stay here. That would look bad upon her if she didn't meet with him soon!

Dunia smiled. "Yes, perhaps, but maybe she wants you to look your best. You are the daughter to the queen, after all." She didn't mean to put down why the cub didn't like the baths, but what cub did enjoy their bath? Not many!
PostPosted: Mon Nov 19, 2007 1:45 pm

Nerissa didn't seem to take Dunia's words as putting her dislike of having baths down, shrugging her shoulders slowly. "I suppose that makes sense... I guess just how many times I have to have a bath is what annoys me about it. You can't walk around in this place without getting your feet all dusty, and the rest of you just follows." She scuffed the ground with one paw in demonstration, creating a little puff of dark cloud.

But even if that was how it was in the graveyard, Nerissa never truly complained about it. Perhaps it was because she just knew nothing else, but she loved it where she lived. It may be lacking in pretty scenery to go with the pretty princess, but this little girl would always prefer to be crawling through the muck on her belly after bugs than prancing through a brightly lit field of wild flowers. Call her crazy, but that was just how she'd grown up.

"Well, I guess I have an advantage then, with my coat and everything." She grinned, for once her coat would help her, as then she might not need to keep herself so horribly clean as if she had a white coat, such as Nerissa.

She offered another bow to the little princess girl, still very content with her company, and even moreso her outlook on life. She was just what these lands needed, bright, cheerful, and too cute for words.

"I believe I should go look for your father, though, for I don't want him to find out I was speaking to you, only to not look for him! I would like to make sure that I am welcome here from his own voice, though what you've assured me makes me not worry at all about what he would say."

She offered another smile, followed by a nod. "It's a pleasure, Nerissa, I do hope that I cross paths with you again soon, and we can speak again!"

With that, she took a few slow steps towards where she believed the heart of the pride lived, where she could hopefully find the king and recieve his blessings as well.

(sorry about taking so long. ;;;;;; just wanted to wrap it up, if that's ok with you. >__<;; )
