They're just easier higher up. Means you don't have to squeeze your fingers as tight when twiddling on the high notes. I guess that makes it slightly harder down low, but most guitar players would prefer it. As a matter of fact, I think most guitars you buy are jumbo frets.

While most guitars available have jumbo frets nowadays, while they do make it a bit easier to get the string down to the fret, I prefer medium frets. I tend to push down fairly hard when I hit notes, and when theres enough space between frets, that's just enough to make me pull my note just sharp enough to sound off.

I know what you mean, sometimes when I'm playing a particularly difficult chord or rush a change from one chord to another chord I find that the notes a little bit too sharp. But I just can't solo on medium frets! Like even something simple like bending I go waaaaaaaay to sharp!

Another thing I've noticed with medium frets (my new acoustic has medium frets) is that slides feel a lot smoother.

Bottom line, jumbo frets make it easier to hit individual notes. Try a few guitars with different fret sizes, and see what you like best.

Connor the archaeologist so... how does it help (say it so that a pot head could get it) im not one!! It doesn't, it's a preference thing. Just most guitarists prefer them. Try one with and one without and see what one you like more.
