BIG changes over at Yates racing:

1. Ricky Rudd is retiring, to be replaced with Travis Kvapil in the #88.

2. Robert Yates is retiring from the race team. Doug Yates will run the team now. What's going to happen is the race teams are going to be transferred to Doug Yates' company. The engine program will stay with Robert Yates Racing, which Robert Yates will continue to run.

3. Newman Haas Lanigan is out. Roush Fenway is in.

4. M&M/Mars might also leave at the end of the year.

I'm glad Travis Kvapil got the ride. I think he's got a lot of tallent, he just never got the chance to really show it.

Things are starting to turn around with Roush and Kvapil joining them. They finally started throwing around the idea of sending one of the Roush cars to Yates when the 4 car limit takes effect. I was wondering when someone would clue in and say it.

Right now the condition of Rousch's 5th car points is that Ford and Rousch don't want that to fall into Toyota's hand lol. Its being decided btw No Fear, RYR, and supposedly some other mystery team (rumors are speculating the *mystery* team is Greg Sacks comeback) Awhile back in the summer he said he had a big deal with Ford coming up within the next few years...which could mean eek wow that would be amazing exclaim Ironic enough Greg's son would have the money to form a Nextel..woops I mean Sprint team.

Sad to see Ricky go, he's so awesome. In recent news on jayski.com they're saying Ricky is not sure he will even be back for the rest of the sesaon due to his shoulder injury. Kenny Wallace will be running for him this weekend.

Very happy to hear Travis Kvapil will be taking his place next year! Also his name is being thrown around as to finishing the year out in the car. Which is also on jayski.com....but nothing is for certain, just being thrown around right now. Also on the Travis front they are not for certain if he will be inthe car next year due to sponsorship. Depends if they can secure one for the car next year.

*crosses fingers* they can and the company gets things turned around. Bout time the company gets running well again. Would be really nice if Travis can start off great and David Gilliland can actually start running well and stop wrecking himself and everyone else.

You know what if the Woods and RYR merged...it would save the Woods the weekend struggle to make the race and with Air Force and lil debbie...there is RYR sponsor....the question is would Robert give up the number 88 ...the number that made him famous back in the 70's with the Digard team and old D.W... confused

Ha I like RYR but lets face it he is struggling with 2 teams adding a 3rd or even (shivers) a 4th would just make it worse. Lets focus on finishing with both cars in the top 25 on a weekly basis. Also....why isn't Stephen Leicht in the 88? HE is the r/d for RYR.?

3 or 4 car teams means, more telemetry, more money for research and developement, and a steeper learning curve. That translates into wins. And Stephen Leicht isn't exactly ready for cup racing so far. He's doing ok in the Busch Series, but these days, ok doesn't cut it. He's gonna have to in a few races with cup drivers in competition before he makes his move to cup, or at least get more top 5's.

I think the biggest thing thats happened at Yates is that he gave the #88 2 Hendrick for Dale Earnhardt,Jr.
