It was time again to try hunting, as Amadet had had such a hard time with it last time she was particularly determined this time. She was not going to aim so high this time, and go for a simple hare, or something else that was small, but enough to satisfy her hunger for the time being. Having yet to find a suitable target, though, the lioness simply crept along quietly. She was not exactly hiding herself, but she was not obvious about being on the hunt. Her hopes were to spot something in the distance before it spotted her. Much to her disappointment, she couldn't seem to catch the scent of anything tasty.
On the positive side of things, Amadet was a rogue and didn't have much else to occupy her time and attention with so she was more than OK with being patient while hunting. Sooner or later, she would find and catch something.

Kainda was careful as she travelled through this unknown area, looking for a good place to stay for a while. As much as she liked this place it wasn't dominated by maned wolves. Lions, hyenas, and other threats also roamed the lands as well...though some of them were surprisingly friendly. The wolf couldn't be sure which was which straight away though. So when she realised that there was a lion about, after scent checking a zillion times and stopping to listen cautiously, Kainda froze. Hmm...

With a soft breeze came a new scent, and as soon as Amadet sensed it she too came to a stop. It took her a moment to get a good feel for it, and she finally ducked down to try to track the source of it. It wasn't a sure thing, but it was certainly something, and that was a start to any hunt. The ex-princess was no expert huntress, but she had lived on her own long enough to become fair at it, and had thus far managed to keep herself alive.
She found the right general direction, and headed that way as quietly as she could manage- keeping her eyes and nose open.

Soon enough, the brown wolf was on the move as well, trying to circle around the lion. Her big ears swivelled at the smallest sound and Kainda nervousy trotted along. Just into her adult hood, she wasn't an expert at geting away from things, though her journey had taught her much.
Come ooooon. She was a lanky maned wolf, all stick like legs and too much fur. Hopefully if they did come across each other Kainda wouldn't have to explain this. Don't eaaaat meeee....

Amadet soon came to a place where she felt certain whatever she was tracking had stopped, but he wasn't there anymore. It was hard to tell where it had gone from there, and she took as much time as she could without letting it get away entirely. What a waste of efforts that would make this. It was the sound of a rustle in the grass that sent Amadet off one way over the other, and she slowed down to keep herself quiet.

"Wolves don't taste good! Wasting your tiiiime!" Kainda yelled after a few more steps and a very soft rustle behind her. Okay, that was it. She was just going to break out into a run if that didn't work. She was usually a very sensible wolf but the past few days she'd been hunted enough. Would it kill 'em to be friendly?

Amadet came to a complete stop when her prey suddenly shouted out about wolves not tasting good. She was not too surprised to find she'd been found out, sometimes that happened, especially with paranoid beasts. This one had done something bold that the lioness had never encountered before, though. If it was a wolf she was tracking, then she rather reluctantly had to agree with what it called out. Not something she cared much for, as it turned out.
With a small sigh, she stood up straighter, revealing her position and finding that she was actually closer than even the yelling had let one. Not bad, at least.
"Ah, so it is a wolf," she said with a small smirk, "Very bold move, shouting out. If I didn't care what I was hunting, you'd have given yourself away completely."

"Worth a shot. Stunned a hyena last time, was so surprised." Kainda spun around and stood up, studying the lioness. If need be she could still run, and atleast now she knew how much of a chance she had. The cat was a bit close for comfort.

"Then you're very lucky," she commented, still smirking, "And even moreso since I agree with you, don't care much for wolves myself. So you don't have to look so tense." The lioness swished her tail, and glanced off in another direction for a moment before looking back at the wolf.
"I'll even leave you alone," Amadet said in an almost thoughtful way, not expecting she would want to be kept around. She hesitated a moment, though, to re-orient herself and figure out which direction she'd already been in.

"Forgive me if I don't relax straight away. Pays to be on ones toes in these parts even if you've luck." Unseen, hidden by the long grass, she wiggled her toes.
"I've been told we aren't good eating, generally, as I imagine your kind isn't. Desperation or rebirth as a buzzard non-withstanding..." She wrinkled her nose at the thought. Bah. Give her springbok or a small gazelle anyday.

Amadet paused in her looking around for the next place to go in her hunting trip, and looked back to the maned wolf. A rumble in her stomach reminded her that if she wan't going to hunt this creature, moving on soon would be good or she might just change her mind. Perhaps it was better for the wolf to keep her guard up.
"I'd have to agree, from my own distasteful experience," she agreed, "But when you're hungry, sometimes you have to go with what you can find." It was suggestive, but Amadet had decent self control and was definetely not starving. The prospect of hunting and eating soon, however, had her conditioned to feel the hunger moreso than if she was simply off relaxing and doing nothing associated with food.

"If you're not totally adverse to carrion, there's a dead leopard a few trees back. Looks like it fell badly while it was trying to drag a large carcass up to it's larder. I ate some of the prey-meat myself earlier..."
She turned to look over her shoulder the way sh had come from, counting how far back the tree with it's bounty had been. And if she could see any of the sun-cursed vultures circling yet. It also gave her something to do so she didn't make a quip about how cats are supposed to land on their feet. Not break their necks arsing around with food.

The lioness glanced from Kainda to the distance where the wolf indicated the carrion could be located. She didn't bother holding back a short at the comment about the leopard falling from the tree, and indeed saw the irony in it all. At least it would make things much easier for her, especially if she was being nice enough to let this one off.
"That sounds good, I wouldn't have to waste any more time," she thought out loud, taking a nose full of air to see if she could smell it out. It was faint, but it could be..
"I think I'd best do so now, before I change my mind about you," Amadet said with a small smirk, swishing her tail and waiting for some acknowledgement instead of making a sudden movement.

"It's a fair enough trade." She tried to sound brave. Eventually Kainda hoped, she get used to all these threats while on the road. Her desert home had snakes. Not so many lions and hyenas and things.
Let the lioness eat her fill back there. It had been a lucky find for the wolf and she valued her life much more than already-dead meat. Besides, she planned to keep moving. So she lost nothing.
"Before you go - I'm looking for one of your kind. Sandy with gold marks, brown mane, named Muroki. Or Malawa. Have you seen him, please?"

Amadet nodded, and prepared to step forward and around the maned wolf towards what she hoped was a decent (and easy) meal. However, she was stopped with three simple words- 'before you go'. She rested her feet again, looking back at Kainda as she explained who she was looking for.
"I've never met anyone by those names, and don't recall getting a good look at anyone of those colors," she replied with a small shrug. She wasn't a very social lioness in recent times, so she might have seen some lions of those colors in passing but certainly not enough or with enough attention to it to tell the maned wolf anything specific.
