About Unisus

Name: Unisus *yes, it's my real name sweatdrop *
Age: early 20s
Occupation: Founder of Dreams Aflight, headquarters of watchers.

About my name:
My grandmother was obsessed with her unisus that she asked my mother to name her firstborn daughter after it. My mother was "new age" and believed that unusual first names brought luck to children so she agreed to it. Thus, here I am. I don't mind my name so much, just all the "Is that your real name?" questions get annoying.
My grandmother and I were close, but it wasn't until she knew that she was dying that she gave me her journal and started telling me about the unisus that I was named after.
Her journal is rather tatty now, but I am in the process of typing it up for all to see and understand that these amazing creatures have been around for a very long time.
My inheritance when she died was a nice sum of money with the instructions to "Follow my dreams, whatever kind of wings they have"
I stashed it and almost forgot about it until I saw Choc-Mint...

I had taken up my grandmothers old hobby, laying out on a patch of sun-warmed grass and watching the clouds move across the sky. However, unlike grandmother, I was also watching for any form of a pegasus to cross my vision.
Months had past and I was close to giving up, spending my inheritance on a trip to Europe or Egypt. But I couldn't resist one last time.
A shadow fell across my face. The sun was behind me while I was looking at the sky so I shifted to see what had covered it.
In a complete "I'm so perfect even the sun worships me" pose, hovered a pegasus. It had captured a space between the clouds where the sun was peeking through and seemed to be suning himself in the air. A cloud moved to block the glare of the sun and I saw his colors. Pale green with brown flecks, brown and green mane and tail. I had to look carefully to see his wings, they were so transparent. But I found them to match his hair.
He had obviously grown displeased at the cloud taking away his sunlight and tossing his head, sending his mane rippling behind him, he darted off to most likely find another patch to enjoy.

So now I knew what my grandmother wanted me to do with the money.

The foal circled lazily over a green field dotted with what seemed to be grazing horses. Slowly he let himself start to descend and land beside a winged mare. She didn't even look at him as she continued to look around for the best blades of grass to eat.
"So where have you been?"
"Flying" he replied daringly.
"It was your first fully solo flight and you were gone most of the day. What would have happened if you overtired your wings and couldn't get back?"
The foal looked ashamed before he replied. "But I was fine Mother. My wings feel fine."
She looked at his face, raising an eyebrow at him. "So just where did you go?"
His eyes sparkled at her. "There was a gray field with strange two-legged creatures walking around. I was sunning myself over it."
Concern clouded her face as he spoke about his "gray field"
"I don't want you going back there. I have heard stories, passed down from my grandmother who grew attached to one of the two-legged beings. But they're myths now. None of us really believe in them anymore. In any case, there has been too much talk around here now days that the two-legged beings can't be trusted."
The foal sighed but gave his promise to his mother although in his heart he wanted to go back and look at the two-legged being that he saw enjoying the sun almost as much as he had been.

Meanwhile back in Aekea:

It was small... but the office I had rented was just the right size for a few desks and maybe some telescopes and bookshelves. I sighed to myself. I had a lot of work to do before that could all be brought first, there was so much dust in this small room, it looked as if it had been breeding in there. Rolling up my sleeves and going into my car for the cleaning supplies, I got to work.
A few hours later, it was clean and the supplies I had ordered were outside with a few guys to bring it all in. I couldn't help smiling, I knew Grandmothers money was going to be put to good use.
Once the furniture was all positioned and my laptop all set up, I set my eye to one of the telescopes, hoping to see the foal I had seen earlier but alas, he was nowhere to be seen.
"I'll see you again, I'm sure of it"
I jumped on the phone and made a few phone calls, one to a newspaper to run an advert, another to a printer to create fliers and the last to a friend of mine, Demeter, because I knew this would be something to catch her interest.

I'm not the only one that's noticing it. Demeter came up to me the other day with TrinityTiers journal in hand and pointed out a strange entry in it. It seemed to be from the foal that she was watching yet how could that happen?
The entry in here that seems to be from Choc-Mint unsettled me a bit, but things have been quite for a little while. Judging by the growth rates that I've noted, he must be closing in on being a teenager now. I'm going to have to peer through the telescopes tomorrow if it's a fine day.
I wonder if they realise they're being watched? It would be rather odd if they did.
I wish my grandmother was here for me to ask questions, but she's not so I'll have to make do with learning for myself. At least I have the other watchers around to compare notes with.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Unisus Mountain:

Choc-mint stomped his front right hoof angrily. Mother was being very over protective recently and he was sure it was something to do with his flight over the grey field followed by that run-in with the demonic teenager.
Well, he was a teenager now and he was sure that he could fight with that other one if needed. Yet still, she insisted that he remained within sight of her and refused to let him fly alone.
"I have to get away from her" he thought to himself. "If only for half the day..."
The grey field called to him like never before. Was there something there that was calling him or what it just curiousity? He knew of only one way to find out and that was to go back. Finally he had an idea of how to get away, but it relied on mother being asleep...

It was time to change things.
Mother was starting to talk about moving away from the meadow that they shared with other pegasi in order to find somewhere safer.
Choc-Mint didn't understand why she was so concerned. Sure, there were rumors about foals disappearing but they might of just died from illness. Which was odd in itself, there were usually enough unicorns around to heal sickly foals. It was time to gather some of the braver pegasi together and see what really was going on. It may mean looking over the area where the demonic teen had come from, something he really didn't want to do. But maybe if mother was right, they might have to fly over that grey field again.
But it couldn't be anything to do with those two-legged beings could it? They all seemed so peaceful the few times he had sneaked off to see them.
He had a feeling of foreboding over what he felt must be done. What was he getting himself in for?
