Dude. Demo team practice is usually the most fun lesson of the whole week. Also, it's good for fitness, most of it. Fancy tricks make you exersise technique you rarely use but still need to practice.

No offense, but unless what they teach you or have you do in a demo team is practical, its trash. Dancing is for the stage not the streets, unless its break dancing lol.

No they won't work in the streets. But I don't get what you have problems with fancy tricks on stage? Its for entertainment. We're no fighting.

Exhibitions like that are fine, as long as they are done well. Neither of those vids came under that catagory. Sloppy, unoriginal and boring.. Sorry.

Oh and you have something to show for it? I don't see you posting any videos of your Great works of stage production. Please I'd love to see your demo team.

Dont take offence. I was just telling you the truth. That first chick was ok in the first vid, but the rest were sloppy as hell. Sorry. If you were one of those people I appologise but maybe you should take the critisism as a reason to improve your standards, not flip out.
I dont have a video of my demo team. Because a) When I was in my TKD demo team, there was never any videos taken. b) I now attend classes that dont feel the need to put on money spinning shows.

Xfactorlight No they won't work in the streets. But I don't get what you have problems with fancy tricks on stage? Its for entertainment. We're no fighting. Thats the thing, I don't really see the point of a demo that shows moves that are flashy and entertaining, but utterly ineffective in most situations. I know that using moves that actually do work is sometimes boring to watch because they're so easy to do, but honestly you're not showing the true objectives of martial arts by not using those moves. Also if you're looking for entertainment or trying to provide entertainment, go to the movies or join your school's theater activities.

I'd have been more impressed with the demo if I saw some tricking All I saw was basic (and probably made-up, but I don't know) Kata And dude, I HATE tricking

Jae Sung ...join your school's theater activities. I HAVE. Just can't get enough of that drama! Actually, a suprising amount of drama geeks from my area do martial arts, come to think of it... There is nothing wrong with exploiting every medium you possibly can to get up on a stage and entertain people, be it art, a musical or a fancy-pants kick.

duskydawn Jae Sung ...join your school's theater activities. I HAVE. That wasn't necessarily aimed at you, but ok. duskydawn There is nothing wrong with exploiting every medium you possibly can to get up on a stage and entertain people, be it art, a musical or a fancy-pants kick. I know that, but what I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't make people believe that martial arts is all about fighting while doing a back-flip or something like that. Otherwise you get many people disappointed when they find out that tricking won't help them in real situations. Hell, thats how you sometimes get people to think martial arts is full of crap. I will agree that tricking is fun to do, but I would never use those in real or controlled fights.
