I figured this would be a good way to occupy those of us who keep checking this guild in the misguided hope that people will post on it.
Post pics and info on some of the more interesting and unusual project cars you've seen.
Here's my standards for interesting and unusual.
A 300HP turbo Acura Integra is not really that interesting or unusual, unless you can come up with a reason why. For example, a 300HP turbo 1989 Integra is unusual.
Insane project cars that are built by famous tuning shops don't count, unless there is something about them that makes them truly unique. Tons of horsepower is not that special when you're dealing with people whose entire business revolves around doing just that.
So basically, there has to be something of interest in either the build itself, or the car used in the build.
I'd post a couple now, but I have to go to work. I'll find some when I get home.
Have at it, fellas!

I gots one!!! the toyota Previa, I've seen a lot tuned for drifting, and they perform rather well. I've seen quite a few in japan and the fad caught on in Canada. some of them are gunning at 250+HP The only engine was a 2.4-liter twin-cam 4-cylinder rated at 138 horsepower. A 5-speed manual transmission was standard; a 4-speed automatic optional. The Previa's engine was mounted below the front seats, and later had a s/c put in as an option putting it up to 160-170 i think. Theres a group on the east of the states called Fast Eggs, and theres a group in japan of the same name. I own a corolla as well as a previa(which i need to repair. . .soon, lol) and i like to keep update on what i can do to them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_meHP_ZrliU

Since you mentioned drifting, here's one for ya. This Honda Element, had the engine and drivetrain removed, and was replaced with the C32 engine from the Acura RL. "Upgrades include a full Tein coilover setup, custom intake manifold, Garrett GT28RS turbocharger, Tremac T56 6-speed gearbox, Driveshaft shop custom halfshafts and driveshaft, OMP racing rally seats, and a custom "Drift Attack Orange" paint job." (From EverythingDrift.com) It makes 500HP to the rear wheels. This was a side project done by some of the guys in Honda R&D in their spare time. Honda plans to campaign this car in Formula Drift, once they can find a team to pick it up. Here's some pics: Ha! Top that.

I learned a ton just by being a member on 3Geez. Have you checked that site out? Here's another project. "-bensons 2.0 resleeved GSR block, fully balanced and blue printed by bensons machine, cp pistons, manley rods, 9:1 compression -PnP b16 head/multi angle valve job -ctr cams -hondata i/m gasket -str 68mm t/b -skunk springs/retainers -hondata s200b p30 ecu -LSD cable tranny -full race stage3 GT turbo kit (GT35R) -custom 3 inch exhaust -itr cams -itr manifold A fantastic 409whp at a mere 12psi, at 17psi, it made giant mid range power. Top end dropped off because the injector size are too small. We should have gotten 750cc injectors, but no one expected this amount of power at just 12psi. 486whp could have easily been achieved with 750cc injectors. Possibly just a little over 500whp. Another problem was due to clutch slippage. Again, no one expected these numbers. So a stage3 exedy clutch was opted for. Now we have to get an exedy twin plate with flywheel." This is actually a member on the aforementioned forum, although he doesn't post much anymore. Here're some pics

Oh I know that car, I saw it in an old issue of Modified
Yeah, 3Geez is a Honda site, and of course you've heard of it, it's where I sent you to find the homemade CAI instructions. It's a really fun site for car fans.

Wow. That is one big turbo. Jeebis. That thing must have enough torque to pull down a small building. I wonder if it can even maintain traction. Like ever.
HERE's something you don't see every day:
I'll start with the mod list (Anything by Jabaayfab is something these dudes made themselves. This is not a shop. They make parts in their garage for fun)
Engine 2000 JDM Integra Type R 3” velocity stack intake SMSP Long Tube Tri-Y header 2.5” mandrel Jabaayfab exhaust Toda valvesprings Porflow titanium retainers Buddy Club 3+ camshafts SRR adjustable cam gears Overbored 66 mm throttle body AEBS intake manifold cut and ported Outlaw Engineering gaskets RC 310cc injectors B & M fuel pressure regulator DH racing crank pulley Teflon crank scraper Grounding kit Rocket Motorsports spark plugs Hondata s100 tuned by Steve Sakai 190 whp/130 wtq
Transmission 2000 JDM Integra Type R Factory LSD/4.78 final drive Hasport cable to hydro conversion Clutchmasters flywheel Exedy clutch
Suspension Ground Control Coilovers (450/350) Koni Yellow adjustable struts CRX Si front swaybar Suspension Technique rear swaybar Neuspeed front strut bar Cusco rear strut bar Lovefab crossmember Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings 14” Civic HX wheels 195/60/14 Falken Azenis
Brakes Wilwood 10.2” 4-piston kit CRX Si rear disk swap Axxis Ultimate pads Stainless brake lines Civic EX 15/16” master cylinder Master cylinder brace 40/40 proportioning valve Motul RBF600 fluid
Extras Hasport motor mounts Fluidyne radiator Moroso catchcan Walbro 255 fuel pump 10-94 baffled oil pan Earl’s oil cooler Skunk2 short shifter
Sleeper Stuff 100% original Honda stock exterior Black bumpers Passenger mirror delete (stock) Near stock ride height 100% original Honda stock interior Mint condition vinyl seats Original Civic floormats 4-speed shiftknob on Skunk2 shifter painted black Carbon fiber hood matched to stock paint color
Basically, they took a Civic STD, (the basest of base models, also the lightest) modded the living s**t out of it, and went entirely out of the way to make it look like there had been nothing at all done to it.
A couple examples: The STD does not come with a tachometer, so rather than give anything away by installing one, they wired a shift light inside the right side vent where no one can see it. They retained the original shift knob with the 4-speed layout imprinted on the top. They upgraded to 14" wheels from a Civic HX (great wheels, if you have a Honda, they only weigh 11lbs) and then put stock Civic wheel covers over them so they wouldn't be seen.
Pics in the next post.

Wow, That's cool. I like how he kept the same front end instead of doing the (rather cliche'd) S15 front clip swap.
