This was it. This was the day she'd confront Fedha again about her feelings for him. That grey, though she hated him, had wormed his way into her heart. She couldn[t get him out of her mind! She was infatuated by him, driven mad by his scent and even madder by his beautiful eyes.

She herself was coming into her first heat and though she didn't notice the slightly appealing change to her scent, she did feel different. She felt brave, courageous and determined to win herself the lionm she'd had her eye on since he'd been a juvenile.

She followed his scent with her sensitive nose, walking along the sand with ungraceful steps.

"Fedha'Kialio?" She called his full name, as she had always done, her voice sounding hoarse. She was nervous, yes, but she had to do this. She had to get him to love her...somehow.

Fedha yawned and stretched his lanky body, slipping off a large stone slightly submerged in the fine sand of the ocean banks. His tail flicked back and forth as he moved forward, eyes slightly narrowed in a sleepy manner. With the cubs these days it was even harder to get sleep and he found his body was wearing down.

his ears tilted forward and he sighed slightly. Life had become so dull... so meaningless. He hated himself for thinking of it that way though, he was supposed to be content with a family. Right?

Fedha'Kialio... his name drifted into his conciousness and out again like the waves gently lapping at the sandy shores. After a moment his gaze registered on a petite female. He blinked and shook his head to clear his mind from the hazy thoughts that has made him think he was halucinating Ivie before realizing it was really her.

He stopped and just watched her a moment, she was heading a different direction than her, across his path. "Ivie?" He said slowly, realizing he was the only one she could be looking for. He wasn't sure how he felt about her showing up, a little on edge. He'd told her plain and simple last time... he thought he had, anyhow. "What do you want here ivie?" He said, louder and demanding as he took a few steps toward the lioness.

Apparently Ivie was a little too thick-skulled to realise that her chances with Fedha were next to zero. Yet, her feminine heart was strong and determined. She wasn't going to back down without a fight. Besides, she had something working on her side, her special sight. That was what had joined them together in the first place. Maybe she could use that somehow.

Then he came into view and her heart leapt. It seemed no matter how much she wanted to hate him, every time she set eyes on him her heart melted. Was this love or infatuation? It sure did feel like love.

Her heart skipped a beat as he spoke her name and she practically skipped forwards, slowing to a halt a mere three paces away.

"Fedha'Kialio..." Oh how she loved saying his name. "What I want? You already know the answer to that." She peered down meekly at her forepaws, circling a claw idly in the sand.

"I want you." The voice was quiet but not quiet enough for the waves to steal it.

Fedha blinked and his expression became stone. He sat slowly and remained silent for enough time to make the situation very uncomfortable. Though he could argue Ivie had already accomplished that task from her words.

He swallowed his 'what' and his astonishment that had immediately come to mind. "Ivie what is this delusion in your head? You know how I feel and it hasn't changed Ivie..." He said slowly, staring hard at her and trying to keep the panic from spilling onto his visage. What was she playing at?

Oh he hoped Ausi didn't come this way any time soon...

"I.. I have a mate. And children Ivie!" He said suddenly, hoping the comment would sting her.

"Then leave them!" The words were blurted out of her mouth with such force that she could hardly believe it herself. Her feelings for this male had turned her into some clingy monster. Love wasn't supposed to be like this, was it? Her chest heaved as she supressed her sobs. Her eyes filled with tears.

"We can leave this place. Go somewhere else, anywhere else." The desperation caught at her tone only urging her to spill further words. "I love you Fedha'Kialio, I would go with you anywhere." And even as a little voice in her head told her it was useless, she continued. "What makes your mate so special? What makes her better than me? I don't understand how you can love her and not feel anything for me. We're childhood friends. We helped one another. You brought me happiness and security with your words."

She lifted her head up to him slowly. "I could have given you seer children. Cubs for you to teach and help grow in power. I...I still could." She took a slow step forwards.

Fedha's eyes widened and he scooted back slightly. His suprise quickly gave into disgust though. What had he done to Ivie's mind? No... no it wasn't his fault and never would be.

He snarled and stood, his expression becoming dangerously grim. "You are a foolish little girl Ivie!" He snapped. Fine, if she couldn't get the hint though his calm, cold words then he would hurt her. As much as he could! "Ausi is a much more mature... intelligent feline than you could ever wish to be, regardless of your powers. You're foolish to think we were once friends!" He gave a bitter laugh. "We were never anything... I had always been toying with you... for that exact purpose! My curiousity in the power of seeing."

He fell quiet at her offer. So she would play upon his power-lust, would she? "I... I no longer wish for power. Be gone from this land Ivie... you have no place here.." His tone had grown quiet again and for a moment something sad was caught in his expression.

Had he really meant what he said? His mind told him it was completely true. His heart? Perhaps he had felt a certain friendship for the small... innocent lioness before him. But he really couldn't have her causing problems for he and Ausi.

Her chest heaved. Each word he threw at her hit relentlessly against her heart. It was true. She was a foolish little girl. A naive lioness who had grown up too fast, who was trying to be an adult when in her mind and heart she was truly just a child. Ivie would always just be that child and deep down she knew that.

So that was why? She was too innocent to touch Fedha's heart.

Then, in all the emotion she realised, with a sickened heart, who Fedha's mate was. Ausi. That exotic looking female who's heart was pure and beautiful. They had met once prior and become instant friends. Fate, it seemed, had dealt her a terrible blow.

"NO!" She screamed. Partly at Fedha and partly at her own thoughts. How could one of her newest friends turn out to be her greatest enemy? How were they any different? It wasn't fair! It wasn't fair! Ausi had been like her! Innocent. Sweet natured and kind. Wasn't she like that? She always thought so! No, no, no Fedha was lying. He had to be! He just had to.

She advanced on him, her eyes full of pure, blazing emotion. There was anger, despair, fear and grief, each emotion gripping her with it's terrible vice grip. Her tail was held rigid behind her. In fact every muscle in her body was rigid. "Liar." The word was almost a whisper. "You're a liar Fedha!" Her whiskers fluffed outwards. "I know Ausi. She's as sweet and innocent as I am!" She bristled. "I know you. I know you're lying. You can't pretend to be someone's friend. You're just worried. But don't worry. I won't tell her. We can just leave. We can be gone and never return. I love you. I'd give you anything. Please..."

But even as her eyes welled with tears she knew it was useless. She'd never live this down. Never forget the embarrasment of this meeting.

"Do I really mean so little to you? You brought me happiness. You gave me hope when I didn't think there was any. I knew you weren't a happy, innocent then but I loved your mind, how it was so sharp. Okay so my mind is dull and I'm not intelligent but...but..." She inhaled deeply. "I'll make you love me...someday."

Fedha wanted to lash out at her at this point. Not with words as he had been doing, but physically! His lip curled but he kept himself from launching onto her and beating some sense into her. She didn't... really deserve that. "Shut up." He hissed out, in an almost hysterically crazy manner. Spittle flew from his lips and his expression was going a little crazed with out him realizing it. The things she was saying! Half of it made him feel terribly guilty and the other had would have Ausi murdering. "Shut up and leave." He was trying to reign in his emotions, this crazy fancy to either well.. jump her and prove she did not want him to love her... or jump her and... beat sense into her. Both of these things would certainly not go very well.

"Ausi is not like you. Get out!" He finally screamed the last bit at her and as he did so he turned to go, solid in his reasoning it was time to leave.

And her heart broke.

Tears welled and flowed down her face, freely and unrelentlessly. This was it. Over. Hopeless. What did her future have now? She was a failure! A failure never to have cubs or dreams or anything! She'd watch her brother and new siblings grow and have families and she'd be nothing but a miserable lioness.

A lioness who couldn't even woo the one she loved.

Without another word she turned and fled, running as fast as her paws could take her. And she didn't stop, not until her lungs were fit to burst and her legs like jelly.

She had to leave. Find someone. Anyone!

But who? She didn't know anyone...no one who would love her enough to care for her...and she couldn't go back to mother, she was too close to Fedha.

She had to go...far, far away.

Then the thought hit her. And through her tears she smiled, very slightly. Maybe there was hope for a future after all.

Fedha sunk to the ground when Ivie was finally gone, feeling slightly hallow. Good, this was finally over with. His life with Ausi could go on peacefully now. Now that he no longer had to deal with Ivie... couldn't it?
