So, I know that My Sims comes out for the Wii on the 18th. Is anyone planning on getting it? I really don't know what to think. I want to know what the difference between the Wii version and DS version is-does anyone know-or have any educated guesses? I really enjoy the Sims games, but this one seems so different. I'm just not sure I'll like playing it on the Wii (or the DS). I'm trying to figure out which one I think I'll like better, then I'll buy that one first and maybe the one for the other system later. Any ideas?

I bought the last two Sims games for the DS, and they weren't at all what I expected (in a bad way). Sims 2 for DS was okay, especially for a $20 game, but anyways, it seems like EA has been slacking with the console Sims game, so before I get this game, I am going to read and demo it alot

I've never gotten any Sims game for the DS, so I would have no clue what to expect. The only reason I like my DS so much is I can take it with me or play it right before bed (in bed), where if I'm playing my Wii I have to be out in the living room. I'll probably get it for the Wii though. 3nodding Or follow your lead and do some research first. I guess it will depend on my cash flow.

Sounds good to me. I'm hoping to have enough to buy it when it comes out. If it sucks...oh well-I'm sure I'll get at least SOME fun out of it. Even if it's not long lasting.

Okey Dokey this is what I have
The story is.. MySims revolves around players fixing up a house in their grandparents' rundown town with only a few residents. thats weird because the DS version is about a vacation resort...?? Well anywayy
The features and crap.. Apart from creating a custom Mii-like character, players may also modify their houses and build furniture and appliances using a selection of building blocks. This gives the player more building options, allowing them to create anything from a fridge to a rooftop swimming pool and moving away from the original Sims tradition of ordering furniture from a virtual catalog. There will be up to 80 characters to interact with in the Wii version (30 characters in the Nintendo DS version), including a mad scientist, a magician, a chef, a hair dresser and a florist amongst others. Some of these characters may ask the player to build things for them; for example the chef may request an oven be constructed for him. As with other Sims games, meeting people and forming relationships will be a major gameplay focus. Other features include the ability to grow flowers and plants by planting seeds outside, and extracting "essences" from the player's objects which can be used for decoration
The char custom... The Sims company has strayed away from using there classic kinda-seriously looking characters and replaced them with anime-like, cute, stubby, short characters. Oh yeah one more desription made by the idealist(Emmy Toyonaga) of them being anime like...."super deformed*(Lol). I guess if your going to make a relative of the Miis better make them to be funny and cute huh.
....Thats all I got...enjoy biggrin

I'm getting a little frustrated with store ads. According to Nintendo, it's released on the 18th. GameStop/EBGames says the same thing, but Best Buy says it's not available until the 19th and Target says it's not available until the 20th. I'm hoping it's Tuesday and those are mistakes.

So I just saw a tv commercial for My Sims and it says "In Stores 9/20." Since when are games not available to buy on launch day? It's just a little weird. I still plan on hitting some stores on Tuesday to see if it's out. 3nodding

For most developers, "launch date" actually means "ship date." I went looking for FF III on it's "launch date," and ended up actually getting my hands on it like a week later. because of that, I always wait about a week before trying to buy a new game. Though money usually makes me wait too... Unfortunately it usually ends up coming down to either buying a new game or some random item I need for a class.

Well, I'm going to go out tomorrow anyway and see if anyone has it. I remember when Animal Crossing Wild World came out, I went up to WalMart at midnight on launch just to get it. They had it. Tuesdays is the normal day (for whatever reason) for movies, music and games to come out, so I was a little confused. I know what you mean about shipping though-it still seems to me that since Nintendo's site for it says it's available on whatever day, that's the day you should be able to get it. Imagine if the Wii was only shipped and not available for purchase on launch day-there would have been riots!! whee

A side note, GameFAQs is painted in a MySims ad http://www.gamefaqs.com/ (will probably be gone after Tue, Sept. 18 ) Another side note, I had that parenthesis right after the eight, and it replaced it with an emoticon (oh how those annoy me)

I got it for both, but if you can only get one, get the one on the Wii. They are both fun though.
It doesn't take a whole lot of time to reach 5 stars in your town, but there is still a lot to do. There are certainly some things that I wish were included, like wifi, I don't understand why that isn't in the game. It would have been fun to visit other's towns.
The DS version is a little slower and a little more confusing to figure out what to be doing, but the more you play, the more it seems to come together.
