I must have the crappiest name ever. Jamie is listed with Celtic/gaelic origin, with meaning as 'from the name James.' I looked up James...it's Hebrew in origin with the meaning 'supplanter.'
Found this on other site: NAME ORIGIN MEANING SEX Jamie Scottish Pet form of James used as a woman's name. F Jamie Scottish Variant of Jacob Supplanter. M Jamie Hebrew Supplanter M Jamiel Arabic Handsome. M Jamiel Hebrew Right hand of favor. A Biblical name. M Jamielee Scottish Pet form of James used as a woman's name. F Jamieson Scottish Variant of Jacob Supplanter. M
So..it's origins could have been biblical.

I looked up 'supplant.' 1. To usurp the place of, esp. through intrigue or underhanded tactics. 2. To displace or substitute for (another).

ouch, *fizzle. My name means to be born at christmas, which doesn't make any sense, because I wasn't, and I don't believe in christmas. but also I would say that how your parents name you depends on what they aspire that you become, which usually because of the inevitably rebellious nature of your relationship with them, you will not. ie. my parents named me after a great russian artist, and now I'm going into engineering. ironic? very.

Many names do. I was surprised whenever I looked up all my friends' names... Practically all the descriptions had the words "god" or "prophet" in them. My name, however, means noble. I'm kind of happy it doesn't have a religious background.
